I tried this today for the first time, and I will be doing it this way from now on! No mess all over the stove, no flipping the individual slices, it is a winner technique! Thank you for sharing!

I like how the pot basically becomes a deep fryer for the bacon in its own oil. I never thought of this before, but now I'm going to try it. Thanks!

The French call that technique “”Confit” cooking meat its own fat. I do it with duck “Duck Confit” to render out the fat. We bake our homemade bacon on a sheet tray with aluminum foil. Easy cleanup. Thanks for sharing

Yes! I have been baking bacon on crinkled foil to catch the grease, loose foil on top, for decades.

I just toss in the bacon (up to 2 lbs) into my large pre-heated pot as it comes out of each 1 lb package. As soon as the bacon gets warm, the pieces separate when I stir them up to break up each piece. Takes about 30 seconds. Don’t know the temp, but in using a stainless steel pot, I have the stove on 3. Medium?

I only have a small saucepan. Do you think it’ll work still. Would I get the same results in a cast iron skillet?

@@whewchile9818 I use a pot because of the tall wall. Minimizes the spatter. I see no reason you can’t use cast iron. Maybe there’s a silicone cover to protect your stove?

@@whewchile9818 I use a pot to minimize the spatter of bacon grease. Ideally, I would use a cast iron skillet when camping. If I had a Lodge pot, I’d use that instead of my wife’s stainless steel pots. Cast iron is so much better.

I love bacon i cooked it that way before but it was because my skillet was dirty and i was to lazy to wash it. Doing it that way all of it at a time sure saves time in the long run plus you have bacon ready to go on burgers and salads and all sorts of stuff thanks for sharing.
