One thing I like about you and your channel is that you don’t care if the bike is new or 30 years old. I like it because those few who does videos about little bit older bikes for the most part doesn’t make very good quality videos. And the ones who does good quality videos mostly does videos about newer bikes. And I’m that kinda person who likes a little bit older bikes. So by this I mean keep up the good work and don’t stop making videos about older bikes.
And btw that tank by the back fender is the coolant reservoir, the coolant goes to when the bike gets hot, instead of dripping out of the radiators. 👍👍

You know you can heat treat those dents out of the pipe with compressed air. You Seal off the ends and fill it with about 40-50psi and use a blow torch and you should be able to get the dents out. As long as they're not too badly dented.
Great find. I own a 2004 KDX 200. The rattle that you hear after you let off the throttle is normal for the kdx. It's the kips making the noise. Great video 👍

I can promise that you can disregard all the comments saying that your piston is clapped. Out of all 4 kdxs that I’ve owned, every single one rattles like that. A power valve clean will temporarily fix that ticking, but best believe it’ll be back in a few days. It always sounds wayyy worse on camera

If you see oil in there, the guy before you probably thought it was oil injected. But it is NOT! So check your piston 😂 have fun with that power and. Yes that is a coolant bottle. Also the ticking sound is from the KIPS exhaust valve. they make that sound after about 20 hours of riding. the sound only develops once the KIPS valve starts to get gummed up.
Don't listen to all the comments in regards to crank and bearings being shot. If you're are a true KDX fan and know, this is a common sound from the powervalve and in a lot of cases means everything is working correctly. Trust me I know after a full KDX engine teardown.

More than likely he'll do it too let's hope not though cuz he won't have to worry about that wristpin bearing. he's going to blow the motor. The damage on the swing arm is from throwing a chain or chain snapping. The plug in looks like a power lead extension for another accessory like heated grips. Good price but patiently awaiting a compression tester...
@@WillBilly. the kdx is a great bike, they last forever, woods/trail bikes that can keep up with other bikes no problems. The suspension plays well in their environment. It's not a racing bike but has plenty of speed to put a smile on many faces. It's an Enduro. Not everybody does Motocross. However, I've seen these bikes on tracks. Very reliable! I own 2 of them and I've owned over 30+ bikes including the 500s and KDX will always be one of my favorite bikes. You can always update your performance too.
It's not for extra oil. It's for the gas mix. U put straight gas in the tank and the 2 stroke oil in that jug and it mixes it as it feeds into the carburetor
The ticking sound is the power valve. the only time you wont hear that sound from a KDX is about 4 hours after the KIPS valve is cleaned. It is completely normal and wont hurt the bike.

Its the KIPS valve. my KDX made the same sound that disappeared after I cleaned the valve assembly. Look up KIPS rattle on a website called kdxrider.net It comes with the territory of owning a KDX you can even search youtube for kips rattle. @@joshf8097

Turned out that he screwed us over because the oil and water were mixing and he suckered us into pretending to be the super clean workshop guy. We picked up the busted bike from his mansion only to realize that he had screwed us. Anyhow, I guess the wheel turns because I heard he broke his back in an accident a few months later. Still, he sold us a moneypit and it was rather upsetting considering we were poor at the time.

The bike is not oil injected the plastic thing in the back behind thew back plate is a coolant overflow reservoir for when the bike starts to heat up it goes back there or it works where you have to much coolant and it puts more in if you start to run low

This will thrash the cr if it's running good we had kdx 125 kdx 200 and kmx 125,s in UK which all came Road registered in the 90,s kmx were flat but kdx,s were rapid especially the 200

by now it would need a rebuild being 27 years old if never had one as if it was me especially top end as I have just bought a 87 kdx 200 and I am just in the process of rebuilding .its cheaper to buy a new piston kit and gaskets than a blown up piston which takes the cylinder with it being that old
That's a pretty good deal I got one in similar shape for 1000 it didn't have any oil in it for whatever reason but we put oil in it and it's been fine ever since
That bladder at the back under the fender isnt for oil its for coolant so the engine doesnt over heat. DONT run that bike with oil in that bladder it will ruin it badly

On a bike that old with that many hours on it, it is not a good thing that the engine has never been apart. That bike should have atleast 1-2 cranks changed. and alot of pistons. And the scratches on the swingarm does not match up with the rest of the wear on the bike.... So that bike has either a swingarm from a bike with many more hours on it, or the rest of the bike is "refurbished" And you should put some oil in that OIL tank. And put gas with no oil in it on the bike and go for a top speed run. That whuld be an amazing video.

That tank is NOT oil under the rear fender. That is a coolant tank. KDXs do not have oil injection. 32:1 premix in the tank.

Turned out that he screwed us over because the oil and water were mixing and he suckered us into pretending to be the super clean workshop guy. We picked up the busted bike from his mansion only to realize that he had screwed us. Anyhow, I guess the wheel turns because I heard he broke his back in an accident a few months later. Still, he sold us a moneypit and it was rather upsetting considering we were poor at the time.

The bike is not oil injected the plastic thing in the back behind thew back plate is a coolant overflow reservoir for when the bike starts to heat up it goes back there or it works where you have to much coolant and it puts more in if you start to run low

i think in the back of the bike is not oil but coolant reserve in case of bike overheat i know that some kawasaki 2t have that coolant reserve.

This will thrash the cr if it's running good we had kdx 125 kdx 200 and kmx 125,s in UK which all came Road registered in the 90,s kmx were flat but kdx,s were rapid especially the 200
2stroke mx classics I m sure they will race Id think the kdx has different gear ratios than a moto version for a bit more top end

by now it would need a rebuild being 27 years old if never had one as if it was me especially top end as I have just bought a 87 kdx 200 and I am just in the process of rebuilding .its cheaper to buy a new piston kit and gaskets than a blown up piston which takes the cylinder with it being that old
Just because it's 27 Yeats old does not mean it needs a rebuild!! Motor rebuilds are based on hours not years and that bike has very low hours!
That's a pretty good deal I got one in similar shape for 1000 it didn't have any oil in it for whatever reason but we put oil in it and it's been fine ever since

Kdx 200 a fantastic Bike here in Australia they’re Road Legal. Pretty sure that oil tank is for Self mixing.
That bladder at the back under the fender isnt for oil its for coolant so the engine doesnt over heat. DONT run that bike with oil in that bladder it will ruin it badly

On a bike that old with that many hours on it, it is not a good thing that the engine has never been apart. That bike should have atleast 1-2 cranks changed. and alot of pistons. And the scratches on the swingarm does not match up with the rest of the wear on the bike.... So that bike has either a swingarm from a bike with many more hours on it, or the rest of the bike is "refurbished" And you should put some oil in that OIL tank. And put gas with no oil in it on the bike and go for a top speed run. That whuld be an amazing video.

The old kx /dxs always had a noisy pvalve system but the year had the blue Lynn fork setup for some of the best year used on kx kudos man
