  • Dirtbiking up some gnarly single-track trails, found a sick jump, and some epic hillclimbs! This is my 1989 Kawasaki KDX200 2 stroke enduro dirtbike. The headlight bulb came loose inside its housing and was rattling around in there all day haha (I had to wait until back in the garage to deal with the issue). This footage was taken on two separate mountain ranges the same day near Vernon, Okanagan, BC, Canada. I'm using my brand new GoPro Hero 4 with ProShot Helmet mount. I hope you all enjoy the video! Please sub for more Enduro awesomeness!

    Great to see what an older bike can do on some challenging tracks and climbs. Nice job conquering that slick, rocky one. I have a 1988 200 model that, for its age, does well. Picking up a 2003 220 soon.

      The kdx200 was and is the best trail bike

      J What? Agreed 100%!! The kdx series is an awesome series in itself and I wish they never stopped production they’re all great bikes honestly my favorite woods and hill climbing bike is the 87/88 kdx200 (last 2 years of air cooled bikes) I love the air cooled 200s my 220 goes pretty decently though too, as soon as it’ll hurry up and the snow will melt I’ll have a chance to take it on some tight trails to see how it goes compared to the old 200s

      We don't need to see cause we're highly educated in bike design.
      The name KDX clearly states its not designed for trail riding or hill climbs.
      It's not called KHX or KTX. Or KH or KT.
      You're obviously an alternative reality type of person.

    Nice video. I have 3 88 KDX 200's. My white one I bought new and still ride it. Ride safe my 2 wheel friends.

      randy sorensen what do you like so much about the kdx 200?
      I ve got 2 82' kdx 175's I like old air cooled two strokes very easy to work on and they ride like a dream for one of the first generation mono shocks

    • @sandysmith7485
      @sandysmith7485 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      That it's air cooled, like you say it's easy to work on. It's light and nimble and one tough bike. I took my white KDX to Moab last month, no problem for a 30 year old bike and a 60 year old rider. Ride safe my 2 wheel friends.

      If they don't follow professional advice then they're going to hurt themselves real bad.

    • @dreyn7780
      @dreyn7780 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@RustyShakleford1 The professionals took the motocross racing bike and fine tuned it for less wasted energy and more forwards motion and reduced jumping effort and reduced steering effort and more straight line power and braking efficiency.
      They're NOT trail bikes.
      They've been professionally tuned to do 1 job.
      Its a racing bike not a general purpose bike.

    Suzuki '84 PE 175d was most robust bike and could take a beating. 20 ltr gas tank with reserve.Cage to protect headlight. Those bikes hucked back big rocks even with big curved rear fenders.

    Those light assemblies for 84 and 85 kdx were crap. Melted. I put a 1980 kdx 175 headlight fixture on my'85 and it still works today. Has a plunger switch to actually turn off when not needed.

      Thanks Tim! Yeah these KDX's lug like a boss!! I wish Kawasaki still made something like the KDX. 2-stroke's are coming back now tho, maybe in a few years they will!

      Enduro Bandit. I bet they do. likely cost more than I'll be willing to pay and would be completely different
      I bought mine for a song from a friend that had it stored. Looking for a newer one.

    • @endurobandit
      @endurobandit  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I usually do. This bike has no top-end power though!

    • @StilwellMotovlogger
      @StilwellMotovlogger 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      My kdx does, hits the powerband around 3-4 thousand rpm and when its full out she still pulls like a beast. It can also depend on gearing too i guess. I run 13:48

    • @endurobandit
      @endurobandit  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The gearing on mine is too tight for my taste. The powerband hits hard about mid-way but the bike will lose all traction from that point on. On the other hand, the bike has unbelievable lugging power!

  • @ngzcaz
    @ngzcaz 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Wiggle your front wheel side to side when trying to get back down the hill... If its really awkward, get off and grab the front wheel and get it pointed down the hill.. Probably could have made it in second if the rpm's had been a tad higher and or slip the clutch. If it's stock gearing, consider going one less tooth on the CS sprocket. It makes a big difference.. Looks like a good place for ride.. Ride on...

    • @dreyn7780
      @dreyn7780 ปีที่แล้ว

      Wrong.
      Race bikes are tuned professionally for doing lap after lap after lap on controlled tracks.
      Every Aspect of the KDX endurance motocross racing bike IS fine tuned for motocross racing tracks.
      If you want it to ride on trails then you'll have to ask kawasaki to redesign your bike or build you a new different design bike.
      Stop buying the wrong bike.
      Hill slopes ARE linear but KDX gearing is non linear.
      When are you idiots going to shut up with your gossip lies?

  • @calebjohnson1471

    How loud are the stock exhausts on the bikes? Thinking about getting one but I don’t ride in the most rural area ever.

    • @endurobandit
      @endurobandit  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      All I can say is KDX's are way too quiet. For my taste anyway.

    Does it have a powerband,,sounds kinda like a Maytag,,It seems like a KX 250 with an extra tooth or two might make you scream..

    • @endurobandit
      @endurobandit  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It has a powerband for sure. Nothing like a KX250 though haha. I ended up selling this bike and my IT200 a year later and bought a brand new YZ250X. It's much more capable and fun than these old enduros. But the oldies were a good stepping stone for me.

    • @Critical_Stinking
      @Critical_Stinking ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The best powerbands are the purple ones. If yours aren't purple,I suggest an upgrade. They come in packs of 3.

    • @endurobandit
      @endurobandit  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Believe it or not, I was completely pinned for the really steep hills. It doesn't have much of a power hit tbh and the gearing is too darn tight lol. Sold that bike and got a YZ250X.
