On Friday, January 28, 2022, I am getting a CT Angiogram of my prostate (with dye) to make an electronic "road map" of my prostate arteries and veins. It will be used as a guide to perform a PAE on me in February 2022 at "The Ohio State University" in Columbus, Ohio. There are about 20 places in the USA that do this procedure. The procedure is very safe, FDA approved and done only by Interventional Radiologists, (not Urologists). I am 76 years old and been fighting BPH for 20 years. I have seen a ton of positive research on the PAE procedure. Ready to go! Wish me luck! Go Buckeyes!

This actually sounds quite awesome - wonder if we have that procedure available where I live!
I have a huge suspicion that my Prostata is enlarged!
Suffered for a long time with Prostatitis due to my ADHD meds!
Now the pain is gone, but I still have to get op and pee every 2 hour or so….
I know for a fact that it isn’t Diabetes Melitus …

Is the prostrate still vascularized post-ablation of the prostate artery? I'm wondering is it getting perfused with collateral arteries and how might the procedure affect long term function.

The blood supply is cut only to about 80%. Ischemia and not infarction is our goal! Long term data over 6-10 years has shows a recurrence rate of about 30%. This is not unusual with other more invasive surgeries too.

I did this in June 2021. Better than I was but not as good as I thought I’d be. Looking into Aqua Ablation.

Is cancer screening necessary prior to this procedure? If yes, what needs to be done? Blood work or MRI of the prostate?
    Kindly advise. Thanks.

I would consult your urologist on this. I think you would want to be sure you did not have cancer before you treated the BPH.

My husband had a urolift procedure in 2017. Now encrustation occurred when minerals from the urine deposit on the surface of the indwelling urolift implant. On 3/30/22, he had a cystolitholapaxy procedure to remove the "stone" encrusted on one of the implants. At the follow up visit, the urologist told us that only 50% of the "stone" was removed and my husband have to undergo another cystolitholapaxy procedure to remove the remaining "stone". My husband has low pain threshold, it was exhausting to take care of him postoperatively. He took Norco before bedtime, due to the constant irritation after the procedure. Then the narcotic induced sleep apnea happened, his pulse ox dropped to 88% at one point. It was a sleepless night for me.
In my opinion , I do not recommend urolift procedure, it is a good quick fix but does it worth to go through the potential pain and sufferings in the future?
Will my husband benefit from the PAE procedure now? What could happen to the remains urolift implant?

I also had a calcium stone with the urolift and the urolift failed in a few years. Don't do urolift.

Urologists don’t do this procedure, so when you do this, your urologist won’t get paid.
