My dad died Saturday. Jerry heals my heart like no one else I know. My dad had the mind of a 25 year old, and the body of a brokedown palace. Life is horribly unfair. This one's for you dad. Love you too much. 💔💔💔💔💔
This will be my farewell song. I have loved the Grateful Dead most of my life. I’m 68 and flesh covered broken bones. This song has special meaning to me. Just an old biker goin down the road.
Pure Gold 2024. Nobody does it like Garcia and the Boys. Nothing in the universe is like the music and the scene that's Grateful Dead. See all my friends up at the rivers bend
My father died Sunday morning at 0530. He’d spent 30 years in the US Army special operations units. I’d made made peace years ago. We weren’t close as adults. There is no service due to Covid. He had throat cancer. Odd, I was drawn to this song. One of favorites. Top 10. RIP dad. He wasn’t a fan to my knowledge of TGD. He preferred the Stones, The Who and oddly the Beach Boys. He served this country for a long long time. From JFK to RR. I’m just going to listen to Clarence and Jerry. God speed CSM.
Remembering my good friend yesterday that passed in June. Nearly 40 years of friendship, he will be missed dearly but our shared life/spirit experiences will live on thru us and our loved ones. Thinking of you and your Dad and the Never Forget slogan, especially what they did in not allowing you and your family to celebrate his life due to their lockdowns. Never Forget. Thank you for your service kind sir, I will never forget that it wasn't due to airborne particulate but their closure of small businesses while big boxes remained open.
Put my sweet 8 year old dog down today after a battle with cancer. Took her to the beach one last time yesterday and been playing this on repeat. Know she’s smiling down with Jerry, Brent, and many others. Thank you for this masterpiece to help me cope.
So sorry for your loss. I lost my big brother to it on January 17th. He showed me this wonderful world of music including the Grateful Dead and I still feel a cathartic release listening to these songs. Best wishes to you in your healing, it’s a long road ahead for us.
This is my favorite version! They all Nail IT! Clemon's the icing on the cake! I'm older now.. I've been to many wakes. Reflect with friends... and go home, take a rip or 3... and play this song over and over! Robert Wrote, IMHO. some of their best lyrics.RIP brother man and to Jerry... sucks getting old... but... love you more than words can tell...
Watching this on the morning of bob hunters passing. In my kitchen in the dark. Reflecting on a lifetime of great memories with the boys. And of course Mr hunter. Fare thee well Robert
People rate singers on all sorts of criteria. I’ve never known of a singer who better conveys the sentiment of a song. Jerry can make me FEEL/CRY. What a heartful man.
My Mom has been battling cancer for nearly 10 years. It’s just spread form her thyroid to her lungs to her liver and she has a biopsy tomorrow. That will lay the next course of action. I am so, so sad. She’s my best friend and I’m so scared to lose her. I lover her more than words can tell. This one’s for Mom ❤️
This apperantly is a song alot if us relate to passed loved ones..i took too much E when i was in 20s..im practically incapable of crying..i played and sang this acoustic to my favorite person on earth..my dog of 15 years..in his last few days .. i shed a few years tears then..but hearing it 5 years later..im sadder than when my mother passed..she was 85..time was up..fare ye well..
To rock my soul indeed!!! God how I still yearn to hear that first riff on the guitar, I miss jerry, but I miss these days some of the best before later in mid 90's, and loosing Brent ducked for sure, don't make em this way anymore, happy days to all, One Love... Peace .
My brother- in- law decided to end his year-long, painful fight with the after effects of the g imposed schtick. By the river, he decied to rest. I couldn't be at his vigil my sister had down where he crossed over. But i sent her the song and lyrics and told this was her song from her husband. ----, may you rest in peace.
Brent was such a welcome and awesome addition to the dead.. Soulful gravely voice sounds so good behind Jerry's. Sad he couldn't get out of the bottle ..
"Fare you well my honey, fare you well my only true one. Fare you well, fare you well, I love you more than words can tell, listen to the river sing sweet songs to rock my soul." - - Brokedown Palace, Grateful Dead ❤ ❤ I first met Chrissy in November of 2011. My wife at the time Mizuno asked to have a dog as she needed a reason to go outside as she was battling stage 4 lung cancer. Of course I said yes and we went from shelter to shelter until Mizuno discovered the unwavering love of her newly adopted shih-tzu pup named Chrissy. ❤ Unfortunately Mizuno was only able to enjoy Chrissy's love and affection for 3 months as Mizuno passed away in February of 2012. ❤ I came home from the hospital and Chrissy and I bonded immediately. She was amazing in every way, even the way she knew her way around our home. ❤ And yet a few years later she was diagnosed again, this time with kidney disease. But if she could talk to me she kept saying, let's go Dad. Let's keep living large, together. ❤ Early this spring I noticed more and more changes in her as she began to appear a little weaker as her legs were not as supportive. She always enjoyed our drives when she would sit on my leg while hugging the open driver's side window and let the wind blow back her hair, like Bruce Springsteen sings. ❤ Last Tuesday we made a big change as we moved to Orange County. On the drive down I had Chrissy by the window and I could sense something had changed, she wasn't her usual perky self. The next day she worsened and her sickness began to overtake her. I called a veterinarian and was able to bring her by, and later that day I had to make one of the most difficult decisions of my life - but I knew I had to do it for Chrissy, not for me. And so I decided to send her off to heaven at the young age of 13 1/2. ❤ Thanksgiving was very difficult needless to say. I am forever grateful and thankful for the lovely blessings Chrissy provided me, and I hope she feels the same. I believe both Mizuno & Chrissy are together again dancing on the streets of gold. ❤❤❤ #love #grateful
To timpani 25: How dare you say that the late Clarence Clemmons "sucks" Do you even know who he was? Bruce Springsteen's best friend and band member of many years. You are a negative mean-spirited person and a sad case indeed.
Fun show. I don't know if I'd call it great - but fun. Clarence didn't bring magic like Branford and Hamza, but he did bring a good, old time party feel - which was cool. 1989 started off strong with the L.A. Forum shows in February and kept getting better and better, peaking, I think, with the Warlocks and Brendan Byrne shows. Last truly great Brent show, imo, was 6/16/90 at Shoreline - the Estimated was beyond, and that endless Terrapin was something else entirely. Last truly great Grateful Dead show, imo, was 12/31/90, with Hornsby, Branford and Hamza. Truly great, immortal music! Thanks so much for sharing this video! Michael Turner I think '89 was an underrated year for the Dead. I think the best NE show of the summer was 7/4 in Buffalo. +Michael Turner You should have gone to the 25th anniversary shows with Little Feat in Eugene the next weekend. It was a MUCH better show. Better vibe with the open to the public camping lot scene. Brent sang his last West coast Brokedown Palace on 6/24/90. Kesey banged on Ron Boise's Thunder Machine during Sunday's Space. The new Further bus was in the lot. The Shoreline shows were not as good as the Cal Expo shows the week before, or the Autzen Stadium shows a week after. Just listen to Loser from 6/9/90 Cal Expo. Best Loser ever. 2nd set intensity during the first set...
Jerry closed with brokedown palace when the crowd was still wound up near end of second set. Always looking out for his people - try to chill everyone out before they had to go deal with the cops n traffic n all
The previous show 6-19-1989 was the best of this run. This one gets more pub cause it was broadcast live on Pay per view but the middle show was the one to see.
