    I am in Australia and in early 2021 I bought the same Early 2015 Macbook Pro with factory upgrade 256GB SSD & 16GB RAM in mint condition with original box, charger and battery at 80% for only AU$300.00 (US$200.00). It took until Jan 2024 for the original battery to drop 60% health, so I simply bought the iFixit battery and kit so now it has 11 cycles and 98.9% health. Took 2 hours to remove the double sided tapes from the battery and then clean the laptop for the new battery but wasn't as difficult as people say. I absolutely LOVE it and cannot see any reason to replace it until 2030. That's 15 years of useful life!!! Great video and have a wonderful 2024.

      I have one with 8Gb ram, and I am always struggling with heat and fan noise issues. The fan even starts spinning when I am just watching a TH-cam video on Firefox. Is it just me or do you experience it to?

      @@kaleab_27 No fan or heat issues however these need to be physically un dusted once a year. Just remove the back off as it's very easy and because these are so thin and have such tiny fans they clog quickly and will certainly throttle the CPU and ramp up the fans if they are dusty inside.

    $200-$300 sounds like a reasonable value, but I would only jump on one if it was low $200s or less (and in great condition considering its age). Otherwise, M1 MacBook Air used for $500-$600 makes much more sense overall.

    That Force Touch Trackpad is basically what Mac laptops have now. My only issue was lack of recent macOS support without some workarounds that can be a hassle for the casual user. One of the last Mac laptops you could upgrade the internal storage, but not memory (RAM).

    To anyone thinking of buying this, just get the i7/16GB/2.8Ghz version. It's still fast enough for 90% of most consumers. You'll have easy use for the next 2yrs no problem. Maybe even longer if you opt for an OpenCore Legacy patcher if you want to try the latest macOS. Monterey is more than fine and I've stuck with that and still use it myself still. To fix the 'Staingate' screen issue, just use Listerine or baby wipes to get the anti-glare coating off.Prb take about 40-60 mins of wiping if that. Plenty of vids on here for demos...

    I buy, refurbish and resell Macbooks and the 2015 is EXCELLENT. OCLP allows easy upgrade to Sonoma or Sequoia. Linux also runs well. Its easy to dual boot with the intel Macbooks too. The M series Macbooks are fantastic but cost hundreds more and require a VM to dual boot. You can't easily replace the SSD in them as well plus I'm not a fan of USB-C ports.

    • @TerrysTechTips
      @TerrysTechTips  หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I agree the 2015 MacBook Pros were great for those reasons. I did something similar in the past, and still kinda have with re-selling these. I don't install OCLP though on them because I felt like it would be deceptive if I did. The only complaint I had with them is the lack of USB-C ports.

    I have a 13" MBP with 8 GB and a 256 GB SSD. It has enough "horsepower" to run productivity apps as long as you don't run too many at the same time. I usually run two or three applications at a time and and keep an eye on the memory pressure.

    Do you think this laptop would be ok for some basic design tasks ? I am making some print on demand t-shirt designs, but I don't think I am using heavy duty graphic design software.
    Mostly a mix of things like Canva and AI image generation.
    My laptop and phone have both broke at the same time so I really can't break the bank.
    I guess all I really need to know is if the screen will be suitable to present an accurate image of what the designs might look like once they are printed. i.e will the colour and crispness of the screens image work for my needs.
    I hope that makes sense, I am not very tech savvy.
    Thanks.

    I have the same MacBook Pro and l honestly can’t recommend anyone buy these anymore. Spend the extra cash and buy a used M1 MacBook Pro or Air. These machines are nearing 10 years old now and like this video points out are losing support at rapid pace. Now if you still have one then yes these can still be used for everyday basic things like surfing the web and for basic desktop work.

There is zero lag, I watch Prime and Stan movies without a hic cup. I don't play games except for chess, which may take longer than 3 seconds. My point is. I love these old 2013-2015 MacBooks. They really were peak MacBook Pro. Having said, that, the M series switchover by apple has finally made them obsolete in my mind. I bought my wife an m1 air, I myself have a M1 Pro 14inch, m2 air 13inch and an m3 pro 16inch (all base models) and there is just no going back.
