    Welcome to my channel. I'm so glad you're here. ☺️
    I'm Kristen Cain... The Simple Stylist. I'm a style and mindset coach who loves to share how simplicity in your wardrobe makes it easier to get dressed and look amazing.
    Today's video is all about what to do when you feel stuck with your style. I know how crummy this feels and I'm digging in to why this happens and how to change things so that you're inspired to get dressed!
    Incredible personal style starts with your THOUGHTS. Having thoughts that support the results you want to create with your style makes all the difference. A single limiting belief can prevent you from having (and wearing) a wardrobe you adore!
    I always love reading your comments and really try to reply to every single one. Thanks for your patience with my response time. 💕
    xx Kristen

    You are completely right in saying that often people know what it is they want to achieve but don’t because something is holding them back. The biggest obstacle for me was overcoming worrying what other people thought of my style - people I knew and strangers - and not fitting in with the style of those around me. It can be particularly hard if you live in a small town or village where most people just don’t bother to look put-together and seem to have just thrown on anything to hand. Sometimes I still have to brace myself if I feel someone is looking at me but at the end of the day I want to be me in the way I dress and the way I live my life, I don’t want to hide or, even worse, imitate someone else.

      Exactly! It can feel uncomfortable to show up looking put-together in a town where few people do. And... you're likely inspiring others to elevate even a touch when they see you dressing authentically! Bravo! 🩵

    Hello Kristen, I just found your channel today and have already watched 3 of your videos. I feel you are speaking to me in this one, (talking about the tangled necklaces,) because i find myself with the knowledge of how to change handbags to match my outfit, but I am just not doing it. Too much trouble! I have 5 lovely handbags, but after getting dressed, the thought of moving the contents of my daily black handbag into the navy one or brown one seems like so much work! I realize it would take less than a minute, but I just grab my black one and go out the door. My brain tells me that the black one is fine, which it is, but I know that sometimes taking the time to change handbags would add more style to my outfit. I also relate to the "wearing a belt" story, trying something new. I decided I no longer wanted to wear eyeliner, but the thought of leaving the house without eyeliner was frightening to my brain. What would people think? After about 2 weeks of forcing myself not to wear eyeliner, this became my new normal and now I never wear it. The reality is that no one cared, no one commented, and my eyes look perfectly fine with just mascara and that's it. I look forward to binge watching all of your previous videos! Wishing you a lovely day!

      I had to get in the habit of changing out my handbag and putting out my jewelry first before getting ready.

      Hello! Thank you so much for your awesome comment! I love it when my videos are 'speaking' to someone who needs the message. Your handbag example is perfect! And the eyeliner!! Bravo for creating a new pattern and teaching your mind that it is safe to go without eyeliner! Same for handbags and belts.
      And... if you should choose to only use the black handbag, that is wonderful... as long as you love your reasons. I never change handbags. ;-) I only own one. That works best for me, not for everyone. Just know what you can change them with your outfit or not... what you want is to eliminate any drama either way. Not making yourself wrong for not changing it. So glad you're here! Thanks for watching. 🩵

    You just reminded me of a book “Minihabits” by Stephen Guise which took me from a non exerciser to someone who automatically goes walking every day and considers herself an exerciser. I must reread it!

    A huge problem for me is finding clothing items that work for my small 5 foot frame. Most of what stores are offering is made for someone larger and quite often it is shapeless. I love colour but to find basic items that aren't blah is impossible. My daughter has an even worse problem at 5'4" and 100 pounds. The vision i have for myself in my head seems an impossible quest.

    Great video. I shared on FB with this note:
    Watch this but interchange style, if that's not your jam, with whatever it is that you're not doing but wish you could.
    Like publishing your book. Creating art. Fixing your car yourself. Building that bookshelf. Getting exercise. Starting a yoga practice. Changing your job.
    So many aha moments and gems in here.

    I have curly hair & spend sooo much time & money on getting it straight...how do u get your hair like that

    • @KristenCainStyle
      @KristenCainStyle  หลายเดือนก่อน

      The most important thing I've realized is that my hair needs to be very damp/wet when I put product in it. My curls look best when I let them completely air dry without touching them. A diffuser works, but doesn't give the same ribbony curls. I use mainly OGX curl products from Target. The products matter less than having the hair being really wet when applying. And scrunching the product in when wet! Good luck!

    I just came across your channel this morning and I am loving your content. Random question… can you tell us about the sweater you’re wearing in this video? A gray v-neck sweater is 100% my jam, but I have struggled to find “just the right one” since I changed sizes from my last favorite.

    • @KristenCainStyle
      @KristenCainStyle  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you! Welcome! That sweater is a thrifted cashmere gem from Charter Club. I think the reason it's so great is because it's two sizes up from what I could likely have purchased new. It's slouchy and easy instead of more fitted like some classic cashmere sweaters. Wishing you luck on your search.

      @@KristenCainStyle Thanks for responding! I just watched your video from 9/23 about the move from Boulder to SLC. As a recent empty nester, I’m so impressed with your ability to embrace change. Hi Kristen, this was such an interesting video! The whole intellectual vs doing it thing. I am happy wih my closet, but what bothers me about it is that ii know I could make it more unpredictable. I love fashion, I have what I think is an assortment of possibilities --that need tweaking. I know I love "different" and "unexpected", because that's my style as a person- the way I think, the way I express myself artistically.
    I love combining textures and patterns, etc in what I wear. I do not like to scream "different" because that's not me.I don't know how to explain it! I hope you can kind of understand what I'm trying to explain. Like I said, ❤video, thought provoking!! ❤
    PS in rereading my comment I'm seeing some "striked out" words that i think I deleted in order to explain myself more clearly. But now I'm in editing and there are no strike throughs. Sorry vjust adding to my confusion 🥸❣️

    Whoa. I knew that I'm a perfectionist before watching this, but I didn't realize it was so significant in all of the ways I feel stuck in my life. Not my husband thank goodness. 😊 But by not committing to a financial planner out of fear, or by continuing to pin ideas of things to sew but not starting because I'm not good at fitting. I'm going to to check out the Stephen Guise books!
