    This is something I tried in the past and it never seems to do much. I guess it's good for removing loud, obvious clicks? But all the smaller things are still very much present and if you keep running the process your audio gets all tinny. Until something better comes around I'm still using the lasso and/or bandaid tool to remove it all manually.

    Mike: This is a terrific tutorial on the use of the Adobe Audition declicker. I use the declicker in iZotope RX 8. Sometimes it doesn't capture all the clicks. The Adobe Audition declicker set in heavy reduction does a wonderful job, especially for stubborn clicks. Thanks for yet another invaluable tutorial.

    Amazing tutorial thanks! I've tried creating a favourite out of the DeClicker to apply to 6000+ audio clips, but it doesn't seem to recognise this as a valid effect to create a favourite from, so just wondering if there's a work-around to DeClicker this many clips in one go? 😅

    • @MikeRussell

      DeClicker needs to scan each audio file and you need to decide whether to do light or heavy restoration for each file.

  • @MotorsportChat

    Hi Mike - another question...should I use the declicker before or after I've applied my EQ and compressor effects? I feel like I can't hear them in the raw audio that well, even though they're obviously there, but once I have applied my EQ and compressor I can then hear the clicking much more. What's best practice? I use audacity.

    • @MikeRussell
      @MikeRussell  3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      I would suggest using it before, "repair" the audio before you go on to process it. EQ and compression may boost the imperfections in audio making it more difficult to remove.

      At the top of the window you'll find the snapping icon, which looks like a horseshoe. If you click this then you'll be able to snap precisely to locations in the waveform.

    @jerimijones7557 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hey Mike, do you have any special tricks/plugins to reduce mouth noise aside from this declicker? I've used it before and there's still some work to be done afterwards. Your audio always sounds super clean. Maybe the mic I'm using makes a difference? (Condenser). Thanks for your videos!

    • @MikeRussell
      @MikeRussell  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hi Jeremi. A condenser mic picks up every little bit of audio. The best advice I can give is to do all you can to eliminate them before recording. Avoid dairy products before recording is a good tip which works for most people and some people find eating an apple immediately before recording works too.
      Once you’ve used the DeClicker you can then use spectral frequency and spot healing to remove any stubborn ones that creep through.

    Hi, great video. got a question though...Do you know of a way to mute every spike in an audio clip (60 mins long) that is, let's say 1/4 of a second long or whatever length you want. What's happening is, someone who is not talking (on their own audio clip) will make random sounds with their mouth or hit the mic or stuff like that. I just want it to be automated is all.

    • @MikeRussell
      @MikeRussell  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Mic positioning is key to ensure each mic only picks up it's user. Beyond that you could look at a noise gate as a way to remove noise bleed.
