    The metal tray where water freezes to make ice has a lot of bluish green stains on it. How do I remove those stains? Is this a sign of something I need to be concerned about? Thank you.

      If the affresh cleaning product from the regular cleaning cycle process isn't getting rid of that, try cleaning your ice machine with vinegar as another option. Mix of 10 parts water to one part distilled white vinegar and pour this into the water reservoir, this may help. You may also have to manually try to scrub or brush it. It could also be something in your water like a hard mineral or copper.
      The affresh is supposed to do the same thing without the vinegar smell. I'd try to wipe down the water pan first with some vinegar on a towel, then run a cleaning cycle with the regular cleaner to get rid of the vinegar smell so your ice is back to normal. Hope that helps!

      @@FixMyBleep thank you so much for your quick response. We are on Wellwater, so it’s probably something in our water. I’m going to try the vinegar solution that you mentioned. Hopefully that will work. Thank you again for sharing your knowledge.

    You do the cleaning cycle with the filter on? Or should the filter be changed when using the cleaner? This video was very help. Thanks!

      That's a great question! So I haven't even placed a water filter into this ice machine because it's fed off of our reverse osmosis line but it says you should replace the filter when you are finished running the cleaning cycle. However you can use the device without the filter if needed like I have been. Just didn't make sense for my situation.

      The filter is only for incoming water and the cleaning has nothing to do with inlet water . The unit runs the water from the trough and circulates it over the evap for 20min until harvest then drops onto the cutter grid .

    Even after repeated cleanings, it looks like the water pan has slime in it. How do I remove the pan to scrub it or what can I pour in it to dissolve the slime and prevent in the he future? Thanks.

      If you don't have affresh® ice machine cleaner at home, cleaning your ice machine with vinegar is another option. Make a mix of 10 parts water to one part distilled white vinegar and pour this into the water reservoir, this will remove the slime and keep it from coming back. The affresh is supposed to do the same thing without the vinegar smell. I'd try to wipe down the water pan first with some vinegar on a towel, then run a cleaning cycle with regular cleaner. Hope that helps.

    How long does cleaning cycle typically take?

    • @FixMyBleep
      @FixMyBleep  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Hello, I think it usually runs for about an hour and a half and the light will switch off once the cycle completes. Thanks for the comment!

    Thanks for this video. Should the first few batches made after cleaning be thrown out?

      That's a great question, I had to look it up to be safe but found out that the ice is just fine after running the cleaning solution. Looks like it flushes some water through the unit when it restarts, and I've never noticed a taste or smell after running the cleaning cycle. Thanks for the comment!

    My one year old ice maker has black mold on the upper inside. I don’t think the cleaning agent will get to that. My instructions say to clean the appliance I should remove parts. I don’t think I can attempt that. What do you recommend. Mine is a kitchen aide and looks exactly like yours.

    • @FixMyBleep

      You can try cleaning your ice machine with vinegar, make a mix of 10 parts water to one part distilled white vinegar and carefully try to wipe or scrub the mold out of the unit (remove all of the ice first so you don't contaminate the entire batch). Then maybe just wipe down the ice bin once you are all done so everything is clean and ready to go. You may also want to just hit it with a damp cloth afterwards to remove the vinegar smell once the mold is removed. Hope that helps.

    I went through the cleaning process but now my machine isn't making ice. What else should I do? I turned the machine on but the water isn't coming in. Help!

    • @FixMyBleep

      Make sure you Removed the drain cap, empty cleaning solution, replace cap again, also that your water is still turned on to the unit.
      If it's still not making ice, let's try shutting it off for about a full minute to reset it. (You may need to unplug it) Turn it back on and I hope that helps.

    How do i get needs cleaning light to go away after ive done the cleaning cycle? Also cleaning cycle does not seem to be taking very long at all, 10 minutes or so.

    • @FixMyBleep
      @FixMyBleep  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Be sure the unit is getting shut off with the button, all ice is getting removed, the drain cap is pulled off, all water drained out, cleaner solution added to the pan (with cap back on) At that point you want to push the "Clean" button on the ice maker to start the cleaning cycle.
      The Clean light will stay on during the entire cleaning process, then it will go off, and show "Cleaning Cycle Complete." If it's working correctly.
      Remove drain cap, empty cleaning solution, replace cap. That should be everything.
      If your light still isn't shutting off after all of that, try unplugging the unit for 30 minutes to reset it. I hope that helps.

      You got that right! I grew up with ice trays. I remember when our first side by side fridge/freezer showed up. I was 11 I think.. That was a huge deal! And it had the chilled water tap to. No more jug’s of water in the fridge!
