    Whirlpool 4387020 Cutting Grid Wire Kit amzn.to/30nLHIQ
    While diagnosing an ice machine its important to know what it is doing or in some cases not doing. In this particular case the unit was making ice just not cutting it so it seemed like the cooling failed when all it was was just a wire not cutting the slab that it did make.
    This video will show you how to replace that cutting grid. Here is a link below if that happens to be your problem.

    Thanks for this. Mine is now making ice! Mine stopped working a few months before I decided to move. I had no idea they cost $2500-3000. Decided to make the attempt and now it is working as before.

    My unit is not cutting ice but the grid cutter looks and ohms out fine. How do I check the transformer output

    What would cause one to stay on? I took the unit apart to clean it. Plugged it back in and when the unit comes on the cutting grid stays on and gets hot

    What would cause one of these units to be dumping an excessive amount of water?

    Bearded i just checked back, my unit kicks off on the diagnostics test, however i do not see water re circulating to the top to make ice, recirculation pump ohms out good tho and gets power to it, still a bad pump you think?

      Run it in normal mode. Make sure it makes a sheet of ice. If it makes a sheet and just won't cut all you need is the cutting grid. Your diagnostic is different and i believe you are running the clean cycle when you think you are in diagnostics. If the pump is not pumping the water up it could be either you pump or control board. If your pump ohms good make sure is get power down there. I believe i have a video on that as well. th-cam.com/video/PQkR-XFATHo/w-d-xo.html. You may or may not have the same pump. Depends on the age.

    I have an Electrolux but this looks very similar. The grid cutter part is $500-$600, so I'm hoping to do this instead.

    Can I just buy a spool of stainless wire instead of the kit? If so, can you tell me the gauge? 28?

    • @BeardedApplianceRepair
      @BeardedApplianceRepair  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm sure that would work. Not sure the gauge though.

      @@BeardedApplianceRepair I’m thinking it’s more like 20 or 22. I’ll likely try this and comment with the result. Thanks again!

      I bought a spool of 22 gauge stainless wire. $8.99. Restrung the top grid. Looks to have done the trick!

    I have a Ge ZDIS15CSSG and the first sheet of ice is stuck half on the freeze plate and half on the cutter gird. The the machine is stuck in the whishing sound ( like the pump is trying to pump water). Cutter grid wires are perfect and not shorts to ground but it doesn't feel hot and the ice sheet doesn't cut. The machine appears to be clean. Is there a voltage that should be at the cutting grid I could check. Maybe cutting grid isn't hot enough and the ice sheet is freezing to the cutter grid?

    I have this model with only 1 string broken would this be why its not dropping ice?

    • @BeardedApplianceRepair
      @BeardedApplianceRepair  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yep, if one is broken it will not cut the slab into cubes and get stuck there.

      thanks bearded, one more thing on mine the diagnostics seems a bit different than the one in the video, when you press service it just shuts off the diagnostics, if i press on and clean at the same time it runs threw it by itself without having to advance. Should my reservoir stay full of water during normal operation?

    • @BeardedApplianceRepair
      @BeardedApplianceRepair  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      yeah your is just a little bit older. The diagnostics will test everything at the beginning of the clean cycle. During normal operation the reservoir will have water in it yes but it will not stay full. Slowly the level will go down as it makes ice. It also need enough water in it to be able to pump up to the evaporator plate where it freezes.

    The Whirlpool number cutting grid wire is that same as for a Kitchen Aid? Also, do they sell this at other retail brick and mortar stores in Michigan? Thx, great video

      If you have an appliance parts store near you yes. Most decent size cities have at least one parts store. Search around google for appliance part store in your zip code and see what comes up. Will pay a little extra but may get the part quicker.

    I have a vevor 110 Commercial icemachine, it runs cycle but won't harvest the ice. Gets a code e11. Seems like it my be the heat wire. Is there a way to check it before taking it off. Can someone help me out.... Stuck in Delaware

    • @BeardedApplianceRepair
      @BeardedApplianceRepair  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not sure. Looking up the vevor 110 and if it’s the one that comes up in google you don’t have a wire cutting grid. It kinda like a vertical ice tray. The cutting grid in this video cuts the ice into cubes from the sheet of ice it makes. If yours is like the one I’m looking up your problem is elsewhere.
      You still may have a wire grid I just don’t know without the model number.
