    "impurities" is bullhonk - its just air bubbles in the non clear ice cubes, not dirty water

    Ice from the fridge - Slower freezing thus it has more oxygen in it. It's not impurities. Clear ice - Frozen quickly thus doesn't build up oxygen in it when its freezing. Same water...

    Good video except you left out the main point - reviewing ice makers!! People go to TH-cam not for those questions (that's what folks do when buying) but for product information. Thanks

      We do have other videos reviewing the different ice makers, this video was more on the benefits of having one, sorry if that wasn't clear in the description, but please check out our channel for reviews :)

      @@FBSKitchen No problem. We splurged on a top of the line model for a new kitchen and it was probably the best investment ever. Constant great-tasting ice at any time for any occasion. Take care.

      @@schoms15 We got the same one for both our main house and our place on the beach - Kitchenaide. It's rather expensive but zero problems, fabulous ice and it can churn out about 50 lb / day. You do get what you pay for in the end. Good luck.

    On the 15" ones, some are slightly under and some are exactly 15" Could make the difference of fitting and not fitting. It's been a while but I remember this was an issue when I replaced mine going from GE monogram to U line. Plus the sound of unit should be thought about. U line is like being in a 747, noise is really loud, hate it.

      If you want "high" quality ice that is pure and clear, then you will pay around $1500 or higher for that luxury. Once you experience quality ice like the Scotsman's Gourmet ice, you won't want to be without it.

    The undercounter ice machine provides some great benefits for the smaller cafe, bar, and also in the home or office. These ice machines provide ice on smaller scales.

    Top up ice melt slower because it has the LEAST surface area. ALSO BE AWARE THAT THESE ICE MAKERS MAKE A VERY LOUD NOISE WHEN DROPPING ICE. IF THE ICE MAKER WILL BE CLOSE TO YOUR SLEEPING AREA DO NOT GET THIS TYPE OF ICEMAKER

  • @dankatz5224
    @dankatz5224 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Surely higher surface area means it will melt faster?

    • @JefferyThunder
      @JefferyThunder 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      she is a bit special the bigger ice blocks if broken down will have a higher surface area. if the ice block is bigger it means it will take up more space and have less surface area, this is because the inside of the ice isnt exposed meaning that is not apart of the surface area. along with that we can also talk about the thermal mass of the ice block (when the ice is bigger it sustains the cold more).

    • @dancarter2291
      @dancarter2291 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Dan is correct. I'm not sure what Jeff is saying. Singleton222 may have it backwards. Larger doesn't mean more surface area. Imagine a 1 pound block of wood vs 1 pound of sawdust. The sawdust has more surface area...that's the amount of "material" exposed to the air. Try lighting both on fire with a match. The saw dust will ignite and burn faster than the block of wood. I realize that this comment is 3 years old...it's after 2 in the morning and I'm looking for a new ice maker.

    left out nugget ice

    • @bh4202
      @bh4202 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nugget ice is a different type machine all together. It uses a different principle that produces flaked ice using an auger and then extrudes it through a stainless breaker plate into small nuggets. This ice is not clear ice but excellent for soft drinks. Not good for spirits because of the increased melt rate and dilution factor. These machines are also considerably more expensive.

    i install and repair ice makers you are absolutely wrong when you said people can expect to spend $2,000.00 to $4,000.00 dollars all you need is $300.00 to $700.00 dollars to have an ice maker that can handle a a house party I can prove that, you need to do alot more research.

      @Wheat H You won't find a high quality ice machine that produces pure and clear ice for under $1000.00. Not sure what brands you're installing but I bet they are the cheap and junky Chinese made machines.

    AND by the way. It's an ice MACHINE, not an ice maker

  • @RichardKinch
    @RichardKinch 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Please use the proper appliance terminology. What you are selling is an *ice machine* , not an _ice maker_ . An ice _maker_ is the cheap accessory in a refrigerator-freezer that makes cloudy ice from puddles of water, or the similar undercounter crescent-ice freezers. _Ice makers_ are essentially robotic versions of old-fashioned ice trays. An *ice machine* makes pure, clear ice from flowing liquid water over a freezing plate, and is indeed a costly appliance ($2000 and up) . See my discussion at www.truetex.com/icemachine.htm
