  • This is the line as it looks today. No more level crossings are planned to be removed, but some of these single track sections will be duplicated.

    Platform 3 in Macleod is where the train terminates.

      Perhaps normally, but I’m fairly certain this one ended at Heidelberg, or maybe that is where the driver turned the camera off.

    Pleased to ride in Melbourne trains compare to Brisbane trains. The announcements are minimal in Melbourne .
    In Brisbane they are overwhelming irritable & long with both auto and guard making duplicate announcements, one following the other, The volume is super high so even with head phones and music going , it is impossible to block out. I now often catch the bus to get some respite.

      The Gold Coast tram, which I use once twice a week, it is just as bad. I put in a complaint to GoldLinQ, but got basically a copy and paste response. You have to wonder what idiots are running the show these days. I will save your comment or further ammunition against them. I know they are different operators, but the concept is the same.

    Only time I've ever used Wattle Glen station was when I was playing baseball out there one day. We'd finished and I was walking back to the station when a train actually rattled along. I took off for the station. Luckily the driver must have seen me cause we waited a good 30 seconds for me. Thanks Driver. :)

      It's a part of the signaling - if you look closely you can see the cables next to it. They are commonly found near level crossings as it's a device that splits the track circuit into two sections. see en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Track_circuit

    • @lachlantrainvideos

      tressteleg1 it’s Metro themselves who maintain the track and stations. 20 years ago the stations and track were far worse than they are now. Melbourne seems to take the “If it ain’t broke don’t fix it” approach a lot.

    • @AndrewMarszalek
      @AndrewMarszalek 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@lachlantrainvideos How is that possible? Many look like they haven’t received maintenance in 20+ years. :) Even the quality of the track the trains run over seems to be run down in many areas. If it’s a choice between Sydney’s endless track work on weekends and this in Melbourne, I think I’ll take the Sydney trackwork. :)

      Oops! I mistook what video you were talking about. From my observations from editing these videos, it does seem that certain types of trains are confined to each line. It probably reduces the need to train all drivers to be able to drive all train types, and probably simplifies maintenance. Obviously Hurstbridge is not a Comeng stomping ground.
