Wow what a throwback bro, if you watch this and compare it to Claude LeLouche's "C'est un rendezvous" you begin to understand why Claude used a S Class with air suspension to stabilize the camera and threw the sound of a Ferrari over it to make it sound fast 😂 At any rate this is epically classic.
I just commented that this video was what made me dream of getting a Porsche, that sound of the boxer engine is heaven :) Now I am just waiting for january 2025 to start for tax reasons so I can try sell half my stocks that made it big and fulfill my dream of owning a Porsche, plan is to buy a used Cayman 3,4l :)

It's not a 964 Turbo, the car was a 930 Carrera with a tune, and a few Turbo body panels I think. Thanks for the video though, very cool to finally watch it in a decent quality.
@@_-Montana-_ There are very old forum posts about this which I used to base my comment on, there are also a few pictures of the car not from the GIS films. What makes you so sure it's a 964?
Technically: it would be a Carrera 3.2 (930 is code for the Turbo, not used for the Carreras). I recall someone apparently who knew the guys that made this made a post on a forum (a bit sketch, sure) say it was a 3.2.
It was a 964 turbo and a film was a documentary series about illegal street racing. It’s on the wikipedia, but i drove a 930 turbo once and i can tell you it’s a turbo because i can hear when the rpm is rapidly rising. A natural aspirating engine doesn’t sounds like in the video. Once you drive one you will never forget it.
@@NZotyoka81 So in your mind Wikipedia knows better than the actual owner of the car? Take a look at the cover of the DVD that was released, accordion bumpers as opposed to smooth and updated 964 ones, PLEASE google before making comments like this. It's possible it might be a Turbo, but the research I've done (that isn't just opening Wikipedia and reading the first two sentences) leads me to believe it's a tuned Carrera. A lot of people seem to disagree with me, but I have not heard a single respectable source of information mentioned
I don’t have to go after different kind of urban legends. Forums often full with false informations. As i wrote it to you i drove a turbo 911 so i can tell you it’s a turbo. A tuned old air cooled non turbo porsche will never go that fast and not even sounds like this. Anyway i let you in your belives as a “well informed expert”.
Afaik they didn't. When GiS 1 was released in 2000 there wasn't really much usable in that space so I'm quite sure I remember them using "proper" cameras - which of course was quite a bit of work just to get mounted semi securely etc.
Just joy riding :) And the "police" at the beginning was most likely his friends. Still I love this video as you can hear that wonderful boxer engine. This video is what woke up my dream of getting a Porsche, now I planto buy a Porsche Cayman after January 1 2025 for tax reasons, I have enough in stocks to buy a used one and have money to spare :)
Very likely stages as the undercover "cop car" did not have any blue lights. And here even if the police drive is driving unmarked police car to catch speeders unaware they are still in uniform.
Early 20s me when I first saw: this is so awesome! Old ass me: slow the f down!!!!!!!!!!! Also old ass me: holy s, I walked through some of those streets while visiting Stockholm, how cool!!! But seriously, save that stuff for the track. It's very easy to kill someone out for a late/early jog when you're driving like this. Lovely city. Went to Pub Anchor many times, awesome spot. 😂
My favorite is still 5 1/2... Not considered as "genuine" GiS, but also ghost rider himself told GiS (at least those that were considered "original"), were not genuine and produced...

I used to drink mass vodka in my dorm room in college and watch these videos over and over in 2001-2002.

no hysteric screaming or bus noises, just sweet performance

Boy racers. We live by the wheel. That keeps on rollin. Rollin with you
I remember watching this back in early 2000 still Classic legendary 💯
This is the original video I remember and part of why I now have a 911....thanks!!!
Awesome! What generation do you have?

Niceee, just bought my first porsche. It's only a 2.7 cayman.. didn't want to deal with bore scoring issues of the other models..

Gracias, quería volver a ver este video y a ahora esta reescalado! 👍🏻
Someone needs to remaster GIS 2. The best IMO

Fake Police or not - It's a classic anyway! Feels unreal to see in 4K 24 years later!
The Classic.
Reminds me of Claude Lelouch
Thank you sir
Thanks a bunch! Any plans on remastering the second movie as well?
Possibly!

I need to see if I can dig that up.

Was the soundtrack FTP removed due to copywrite?
Note to self if I ever need to chase a Porsche don't use a Volvo 740
I used to watch this on repeat in like 480x260 resolution lol
Remember this will have watched it a few times
Man, its nice to see it in not a mod 2000s rip and reupload to youtube quality...
You upscaled it from your own VHS rip or?
Used @topazlabs AI to enhance a DVD rip.

It's like the swedish foo fighters
Those guys looked like thugs to me, definitely didn't act or look like cops
Either undercovers or staged
Undercover cops look like thugs. If you ever seen one you would know.
Staged for sure...
I was always skeptical about this...

That wasn't the police.. that was good ol fashion highway robbery attempt
I have the original video that is 19 minutes long, and the song is different, NWA's F*** The Police. This is edited.
Miami Vice
They left out the original cooling cracking audio in the end! SUCK!

Ss Ghostrider calls it "Gay in Stockholm" because of how fake it is
The only fake things in Getaway in Stockholm is these undercover cops in this first film and the police van in getaway in Stockholm 7.
What is fake here exactly?

Nope.
Common criminals with no regard of human life.
More like joyriding at a little higher speed then you can in the day when it is crowded full of people and traffic...
get rid of the ridiculous music!
I used to think this was real and not staged.
