There are so so many videos already that show how to make flying geese units. This video is really about making flying geese units and then arranging them into the flight pattern block. I was really hoping that this video would go into greater depth on how to join the blocks together to form the quilt (like the title of the video implies). I'm making a quilt like this now and I"m having a lot of trouble joining the rows of blocks because of all the uneven layers in the seam allowances.
I believe that the flying geese are 5" x 10" the long side of the unit is the outer edge of a 10 inch precut square and flying geese are half the height of the width. ie 2 x 4, 3 x 6, 4 x 8.........
Easier said than done on video? I see what you mean. usually I would have, but sewing when a camera is rolling is more difficult than you might think. I'm not sure how Marianne and LIz did it so beautifully on their IPTV series over the years. Sorry to disappoint.
I really like this. Thanks for the video. I wondered if I could make it with a 5" charm square precut instead of the 51/4" square?
tku for this info, looks so much easier than how I was doing same thing.
My daughters age 12 & 8 really eager to learn quilting. I guess they're just like me love to sew.
Love this! What size background block do I use with 8 1/2" block?

I have 2 words for you, Dutchman's Puzzle.
Ah, the days when clear, lighted sewing was the norm!
What size are these flying geese after they have all been cut apart ?

Ok thank you.
Why didnt you sew just inside the line like you suggested?
