That is an exquisite knife! The beauty of the pattern all down the tang makes it even better. The work is mesmerizing and obviously tedious and time/labor intensive and the finished piece honors that.
This is the most beautiful knife, what i have ever seen! I'm a knife collector, so i have seen some nice knife, and i'm lucky, because i have lot of nice damascus knife, But this... It's not just a knife. It's a real dream come true.
Thank you for your work, as an 83 year old you make me jealous that I would have loved to do this “art work”, you have great skill and love in what you do are doing, congratulations sir!
I’ve been trying to use my forge today and have to come up with a better anvil/ anvil height. That and figure out a way to hammer more… this isn’t the best hobby to start with lower spine injuries. Maybe once I finish my belt grinder I can do more. I just need a platen and to finish wiring it up. I may just have to find blanks and build from that instead of trying to do the forging. Beautiful work!
Thank you very much! As for the spine, it's really complicated. I already have some problems that bother me... I recently started exercising again, and it has helped a lot. Swimming is a good practice for this.
very nice.. I thought inverted tang was like the tang placed in line with the bottom leading edge of the knife, so how's that going to work.. turned out you wanted to show the same feather patterns on the side.. brilliant job, this.
Hello. Good day to you. You did a great job. What liquid did you use in the tube to make the blade emboss the pattern? Is that engine oil/Lubricant? Thank you
Let me ask a question, what is the little skinny slivers of metal that f falls off the bi!!st as it is passed through the press and occasionally from the billet as you hammer out the shape of tbe blade called and is there a use for them?
Please forgive me, sometimes I lose track of what finger is hitting what touch-key on my keyboard. Any spelling mistakes are typographical errors on my part and not intended to disagree with anyone. TYVM. RGB3
@@cutelariaharpia Recycling is a use, providing you mean putting them together with other fragments of various metals and forming another billet. That is an environmentally positive use of that substance.
Boa tarde! Normalmente não tenho muitas peças disponíveis, então acabei não criando um lugar para isso, faço todas vendas diretamente. Atualmente tenho duas que um cliente disponibilizou. Se quiser chama no 51 998966784 que te mando fotos!
i dont see how he got the pattern on the outside when he didnt cut at a angle and tile his final stack and i learned that from kyle royer the pattern remains withing the centre untill cut on angtle and tilted and pressed/forged together ????
I like the way you use sketches to explain the process. Very useful.
Thanks for watching! I like to show the steps so it's easier to understand.

Very beautiful knife. Love the etched handle. Don’t you do any heat treatment after quenching ? Isn't the blade become too brittle without it ?
Thank you friend!
Yes, I do other heat treatment steps, I just don't show them in the video...
Excelente vídeo! Eu gostaria de saber as duas ligas de aço que você usou e o material do cabo. Tudo ficou lindo demais!
Muito obrigado, Douglas! Nessa faca usei 1084 e 15n20. O material da empunhadura é molar de mamute fossilizado.
Hello. Good day to you. You did a great job. What liquid did you use in the tube to make the blade emboss the pattern? Is that engine oil/Lubricant? Thank you
Hi! I've used ferric chloride, and later manganese phosphate.
Bela peça 😮

These are small pieces of iron oxide and borax that break off during forging.
As far as I know, there is no use for this other than recycling.
@@cutelariaharpia Recycling is a use, providing you mean putting them together with other fragments of various metals and forming another billet. That is an environmentally positive use of that substance.

Me gustó que la parte de la forja se tomara su tiempo y no recortaran esta parte es dónde radica lo más escencial del proceso
Yes, I think it's important to show the complete process so they can understand. Thanks for following along!
