    Ive been sleeping on the floor for 5+ years and it is very uncomfortable for a few days and then it starts to get easier. After a few months it actually feels nicer than sleeping on the bed. I never wake up with back pain and my sleep apnoea completely went away.

      @@BarRookie We both started sleeping on the floor at the same time due to bedbugs coming from a neighboring apartment. We slept in a tent on our bedroom floor while our bed and room were treated. We both agreed after 3 days that we slept more soundly. Not gonna lie,sex is actually much better on the floor too. So I decided to move to an even harder surface, and I googled sleeping on the floor. It's been almost a year now and I enjoy the cold and hard floor so much. The key to getting really good rest when sleeping on the floor is making sure you’re very active and eating about three hours 3 to 4 hours before you’re going to sleep. You have to be active that way when you go to sleep you’re already tired and you won’t have an issue falling asleep. I did landscaping this summer and worked at a grocery store and worked out/played basketball damn near everyday. I used 1 blanket on a carpet as my BED and 2 blankets as my covers. I did this a lot honestly. It was beautiful because when I would wake up I would get straight up there was no morning grog or nothing like that. I also learned to sleep on my back in the process. Because I’m not a back sleeper I had to do a lot of things to make myself tired so when I was sleep on my back I would fall asleep just off the strength that I was very tired. Where I’m staying at rn I prolly slept on the floor like 4 times and a weighted blanket was my cover :)))) GREAT sleep lol.

    I hurt my neck too, but I found a few times that sleeping without a pillow helped loosen up my stiff neck. When I sleep on a thick pillow I can never relax my jaw or my shoulders. I've been trying to sleep on the floor with a yoga mat last few nights again (after straining my neck again...) with just a folded towel, I'm surprised that my jaw and shoulders can relax. I agree the first few days were the hardest (especially on my tail bone), but after a while my body figured out what to do. I think expensive mattresses, pillows and bed frames are a bit of scam!

    • @BarRookie
      @BarRookie  5 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      I really share your opinion, we overcomplicated sleeping when introducing mattresses and pillow. When I talked to my physical therapist about sleeping on the floor, she thought I was crazy XD.
      My greatest challenge with floor sleeping is not getting too cold, because there is no real insulating barrier between your body and the floor. That is something to look out for.
      But thank you so much for sharing your experience and showing me that maybe I'm not that crazy!

    • @estycki

      @@BarRookie I put a fuzzy blanket between me and my yoga mat. Unfortunately I have a hard wood floor so it might be a bit too hard, but the rug in the living room is starting to look rather inviting, I almost fell asleep on it last night. Being on my bedroom floor, my head is like right next to my heater (that was the only space for it) and I actually got too hot, and the buzzing of the heater annoyed me, so I had to turn it off. Also needed to remember to vacuum almost everyday.. you don't notice the clumps of dust and hair until your head is on the floor haahaaaa
      So last night I slept in my normal bed, to take a break and see if I could get a slightly better sleep. My futon mattress is not super soft I figured. Well as it turns out, my lower back started hurting, which it had never hurt before (I always have upper back pain). Something to think about hmmm

    I've been sleeping on the floor for nearly 19yrs, at 23 I just couldn't sleep on my bed anymore, was uncomfortable.
    I'm 6ft & 13stone, & I felt the bed couldn't embrace my weight. I went on the carpet flooring with the extra comfort & a sheet, & I just loved it! I've never suffered from back pain, shoulders etc, however, if you're ill & require to lay in your (floor) bed all day, it's NOT a good idea. Your back will start to hurt, you need to lie on a sofa or bed. But other than that, there's no problem.

    I fold a fleece blanket so it forms two layers and lie on it. Sleeps with a pillow and a regular blanket. Naked with cozysocks. the socks help to warm and give the feet a snug feeling. The first nights can be terrible, but the body becomes softer and more flexible quite quickly. After a week or so, it feels great to go to bed and over time you no longer want to sleep in a bed

    Sleeping on the floor has been one of the greatest health and well-being choices I have ever made, and I definitely recommend it.
    Have been sleeping on the floor now with some blankets of course for about 4 years and will never go back. (My back and everything is better because of it)
    If I go away somewhere I sleep on a stretcher for hygiene reasons and that’s fantastic. Only used when away on holiday.
    It takes some getting used to sleeping on the floor, however I can assure you now you will be thanking yourself in years to come.

    I’ve been sleeping on a Japanese futon recently (pretty close to floor sleeping) and I’ve noticed I fall asleep super fast and don’t toss and turn anymore. I think because my bones are supporting me my muscles don’t get that lack of circulation feeling :)

      It is crazy that such a simple thing can have such an amazing benefit! What thickness is a japanes futon?

      I recently got a 4" futon too, definitely better than a mattress (that ironically cost 3x more). However pelvis & shoulders still sink in, keen to go even firmer/thinner, 1-2" should be mint.

    • @amusik7
      @amusik7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The interesting thing is that because of the futon you actually are sleeping more deeply. But because its harder than a mattress your body will naturally turn around more during the night, but this is a GOOD thing. The reason you think you toss and turn during sleeping is because the "comfortable" mattress is keeping you half awake and you are just painfully aware of how uncomfortable it is to lay like a mummy in the cocoon of the soft mattress. Your back needs regular movement to keep comfortable and on a hard futon you will do that naturally, without knowing it.

I could afford to buy a bed but shopping gives me anxiety so I always avoid it, postpone it or come up excuses not to do it. So I ended up sleeping on the floor most of my life (periodically using a bed). Now I am 58 still sleeping on normal carped covered on regular bedsheet. Never suffered joint or back ache. So what you are saying make sense to me.

    Truth is, we have no idea what our "ancestors" did or didn't do. They left behind magnificent architectural masterpieces in every major city on earth, so I suspect that they were hardly _hunters and gatherers_ like our _zoo keepers_ want us to believe. The Atlanteans were so far technologically advanced that we still cannot do what they did a thousand years ago. Sadly, we most likely have devolved tremendously over time. ♥But I love your floor sleeping videos. You are an inspiration.

      @@BarRookieThat is, if you believe in evolution, theres been a great deal of false evidence (especially in the 1800s) passed as truth for the evolution argument that people still believe and are in science books today! (Ernst Haeckel's famous embryo drawings for instance, which have been proved to be works of fiction, yet today is still used as proof).
      Theyres even a story of an African young male where the captors filed down his teeth and put him in a zoo with monkeys as the 'missing link' (he later commited suicide), and dont forget the drawings of the faces of 'monkey to man', which has its roots in blatant racism of the white race being the most 'evolved'.

Think about it, our ancestors instinctively done it by squatting back then.Just imagine feeling urge while on the forest and you decide to sit on between two rocks. Must be awkward. And the chance you will find rock formation like that is rare on nature. The most logical way would be just by down squatting on the ground and do the bussiness. Pick some leaves or small smooth rocks or even water if they do between a river to clean the hole. Nowadays, most asian still doing this, hence can squat naturally than Westerners. I have returned to sleeping back in my bed. Just to realise that it does not do me any good (a lot of neck ans shoulder pain). Now because my girlfriend didn't want to continue sleeping on the floor because it would be a waste of money for the bed, we made a compromise.
      I bought tatami mats, which mimic a floor, but they insulate a lot better. And I put my mattress on top of that. This feels a little bit like sleeping on the floor but is still a bit soft.
      But hands down, I would want to go back to floor sleeping. I feel a so much better response of my body against the hard surface.

      The way I do it is just have your arm out in front of you. It is quite natural to sleep on your side even on a hard surface.

    I have been sleeping on hard surface for 26 years approximately... Anyway, my hobby is "survival in extreme conditions"... I follow the raw carnivore diet, that is, almost always eat raw meat and raw offal... and drink fresh blood whenever it is possible, it is the natural energy drink...
