dayum, 9 years have passed since this was launched, since I didn't understand English, since I was a kid and thought this was some kind of removed episode after seeing the animation
The brilliant thing about this song is that it not only coined the phrase "Rainbow Factory" but also set that place up as a terrifying horror story, far before any fan fiction or fan theories did so. Also, it did all this in a subtle way that never expressly *told* what is going on, only leaving it to the audience's imagination, which is the *best* type of horror story.
and that's precisely why I prefer the song to the fanfic. you're left only to speculate what's going on in this Rainbow Factory, while the fanfic is very straightforward in saying "THIS IS WHAT'S GOING PONIES ARE BEING KILLED AND THIS IS HOW THEY KILL THEM"
@@superminer1993 the song is related to the tv show My Little Pony, but obviously puts a much darker twist on it. After the song was released, there was an MLP fan fiction written with the same name that was inspired by the song. I personally haven't read the fanfic, but the gist is the pegasi who work at the Rainbow Factory actually use other ponies to make rainbows by killing them. The story follows the character Scootaloo who eventually gets killed and used to make rainbows by Rainbow Dash, who works there. The song though, never explicitly states what's going on in the Rainbow Factory, it only hints at something darker and more disturbing going on behind the doors
*sniffs the air* yeap is 2011 alright, Friendship is magic was still young, Wii shop channel was still running, Pokemon Black and White are new, the 3DS was in its infancy, ahh now that some crisp nostalgia.
The part that chills me so much in the chorus is the word "factory" because after the word "rainbow" the ear generally expects (especially with the dark and gloomy atmosphere) a vocal transition into a lower pitch, but it's a sharp note that transitions into a natural note that's nearly an octave higher (i believe it's an F#4 that transitions into a D5) and it's totally chilling to me. Even in my head (although I haven't listened to this song in like 7 years) I didn't remember that little detail, so I thought it was cool. Sorry if this made no sense, it's nearly five in the morning and my sleep schedule is a Shakespearean tragedy.

Isn't really a banger when you can barely even hear the vocals when they're all garbled and muffled from the music itself. Though the actual music is good a banger song is good everywhere.
Its crazy how important this song is for the brony fandom. Rainbow Factory became one of the core phenomena that defined and directed the early composition of the fandom. 2011 is soon 10 years ago, soon MLP:FiM is gonna be a decade old and the fandom will mean as much to us today as the 2001 memes did for 2011.

FirestarThePegasus Actually the machine is just a meat grinder with an incinerator below. The chopped gibs are burned and the light from the fire is focused through lenses and then prisms, creating the rainbows, which are then condensed in whatever way the pegasi have done into the highly radioactive liquid rainbow light you see in the lower floors. So unless prisms no longer refract white light into red light there should be no shortage of _any_ color, let alone that one. As for the ashes and whatever is left of the skeletons, maybe they get shipped to earth pony farms disguised as compost.

I want to thank WoodenToaster for getting me into this stupid show. Ever since I heard this, I went to watch the show to see what the rainbow factory was. Only in the journey of trying to find it, I found the love in the show inside of my heart. It could be a bit of a dramatic push from trying to find out a machine that kills ponies for rainbows due to a treaty Celestia made to liking a show where the most evil thing is a pony insect named Chrysalis...QUEEN Chrysalis, my bad. To the many days I know waste rewatching, to the hundreds of dollars I've donated and sunk into the show's merchandise and donations, I thank YOU WoodenToaster. Thank you for introducing me to this oddly addicting show called "My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic"
When everyone is talking about nostalgia but you only just found this song Edit: If another one of you people reply to this about when you discovered the song and how much I've missed or whatever along those lines I'm gonna lose my shit
Deep in the pages of history Lies a shadow hiding in a mystery A late night story buried far away Until it once again sees the light of day And when the little colts and fillies turn out all lights And tell a story of a factory as black as night The luxury of rainbows comes at a price Just ignore the screams, and don't think twice
Okay I had an experience. I was listening to Rainbow Factory, and I was apparently playing it louder than I thought because the guys across the intersection started screaming "RAINBOW FACTORYYYYYYYY" and were whipping their heads to the beat. Simple head bobbing is too gentle a description for their enthusiasm.
Ahh The song that has kick started so many peoples love of the show. The song so good it spawn a bazillion remixes, cover, re-imagines and even a sequel. A song so intriguing it has its own lore and theory's about the mystical factory and the practices that go on there. Arguably this has to be the most influential 3:27 ever.

my parents neglecting to supervise my internet use ultimately resulted in me rotting my 10 year-old brain by listening to this song and perusing mlp creepypasta every day, LOL
LennyBoiLovesTH-cam luv, the sound of the music wasn’t an issue. the messages of this song and the creepypasta that went along with it were the problem!
@@draculena Yeah Ik but like its not too bad, stuff that ruins your brain is like genuinely traumatizing things are what do the trick I mean this could kinda change you a bit but not like turn you into a psychopath or anything
LennyBoiLovesTH-cam i think you’re taking my comment a bit too seriously :-/ it’s honestly a light-hearted joke. i’m not suggesting that i accumulated ACTUAL, irreversible psychological damage from this type of stuff. it’s meant to be commentary on parents who don’t monitor their children’s internet usage... i generally don’t think young children should be consuming violent, gorey content-or suggestive content of that nature. however, when thinking about the potential consequences, i’m lucky i didn’t dig further than i did.
@@draculena I know its a joke and Im usually not that person who takes things too seriously its just when people say that it kinda annoys me a bit since people genuinely think that and even in the context of a joke im still slightly irritated and I get the commentary and I agree with it but when people keep saying "Oh it ruins your brain and stuff" even in the context of a joke still kinda gets on my nerves no offense
I'm just now thinking about the sheer ingenuity behind this song. Take the title of the song. "Factory" gives you a mindset of mechanical design to the beat and rhythm. Rainbows are supposed to give off a sense of happiness and peace, which directly contrasts this song entirely. It's something you wouldn't initially think when hearing the word "rainbow," and WoodenToaster (or Glaze) used this to his advantage very well. Also the song is a banger, so that's cool too
TH-cam Yus I mean in real life the word "Rainbow" Is linked to homosexuality which society has deemed "Un-manly" But this song shows that Rainbows can be manly
Can we just talk about how well-made this song is? It's so catchy and everything flows so well together. The lyrics also add to the foreboding and threatening aura of the song, and leave just what it is in the factory that's so dangerous and terrifying to your imagination, letting it run wild with just how horrible the secrets within could be.
You know people hated on us back then (and even now they do) but you can't deny there were a lot and I mean a whole lot of creative people in this fandom who created so many different things, like songs, pictures, videos, memes and even a fandom episode. I'm glad I could experience these things firsthand.
Now a rainbow's tale isn't quite as nice As the story we knew of sugar and spice But a rainbow's easy once you get to know it With the help of the magic of a Pegasus device [Instrumental] Let's delve deeper into rainbow philosophy Far beyond that of Cloudsdale's mythology It's easy to misjudge that floating city With it's alluring decor and social psychology But with all great things comes a great responsibility That of Cloudsdale's being weather stability How, you ask, are they up to the task ? To which the answer is in a simple facility In the rainbow factory Where your fears and horrors come true In the rainbow factory Where not a single soul gets through In the rainbow factory Where your fears and horrors come true [Instrumental] In the rainbow factory Where your fears and horrors come true In the rainbow factory Where not a single soul gets through In the rainbow factory Where your fears and horrors come true In the rainbow factory Where not a single soul gets through...

I was best friends with a girl who was fanatically obsessed with MLP and she was always watching it when I came over to her house. I got this through osmosis but I heard the music she would listen to and I thought it was nothing short of a master piece. This is so nostalgic to me.
Only now do I really truly appreciate just how incredibly creative and unique the MLP fandom was. No other fandom before or since has on their own created so much incredible original content. Being a fan of this show taught me to write fiction, sing, play the piano, animate in after effects, edit videos, create beats, and draw. It got me into podcasts, introduced me to the idea of live streams, let’s plays, Dungeons and Dragons, and game design. This community was really the birth of my creative side after an early childhood of strict military family parenting and being told I should go get a PhD in engineering. I genuinely tear up just thinking about it so just for old times sake, wherever you all are in your lives nowadays, Here’s a brohoof for the long road ahead /)
admittedly, I thought so, too... also, the steam noises and the crack at 3:02 are missing... and all the beats seems weaker... fortunately, BronyDanceParty improved this in his Remix, with an amazing and awesome PMV...

To the many days I know waste rewatching, to the hundreds of dollars I've donated and sunk into the show's merchandise and donations, I thank YOU WoodenToaster. Thank you for introducing me to this oddly addicting show called "My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic"
You too?
That show isn’t stupid... it’s the best
@@thejolosquad4344 you too???
your stupid too
Uh oh kinda cringe but I respect it.
When everyone is talking about nostalgia but you only just found this song
Edit: If another one of you people reply to this about when you discovered the song and how much I've missed or whatever along those lines I'm gonna lose my shit
MEEEE :'(
Yes

I've known this song since I was 9 lmao
Arctus The Goddess
Nice
this song is like
a decade old...
omg
time flies like crazy
Deep in the pages of history
Lies a shadow hiding in a mystery
A late night story buried far away
Until it once again sees the light of day
And when the little colts and fillies turn out all lights
And tell a story of a factory as black as night
The luxury of rainbows comes at a price
Just ignore the screams, and don't think twice
Pegasus device, oh my I love that song!😃
I'm just passing by in a nostalgia trip
Okay I had an experience. I was listening to Rainbow Factory, and I was apparently playing it louder than I thought because the guys across the intersection started screaming "RAINBOW FACTORYYYYYYYY" and were whipping their heads to the beat. Simple head bobbing is too gentle a description for their enthusiasm.
me when i lie on the internet
So true that would be me and my dad
RAINBOW FACTORYY!!!!
@LittleBigSmoak_ I'll take " I think everything on the internet is a lie because I have no life experience" for 200

WE GETTING NOSTALGIA WITH THIS ONE🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
9 years later, still fantastic.
The simplicity of this song is incredible yet capturing. You did a wonderful job with this Gary.
I forgot about this song for years, and then I found it in a old playlist.
I love it.
In the Rainbow Factory,
Where the fears and horrors comes true,
In the Rainbow Factory,
Where not single soul get though!
I love this song!

my parents neglecting to supervise my internet use ultimately resulted in me rotting my 10 year-old brain by listening to this song and perusing mlp creepypasta every day, LOL
This aint gonna rot your brain m8
Also the song is a banger, so that's cool too
Man, this song is 10 years old already?? Where did all the time go??

I'm not even a fan of MLP but I like this song too
The only place on earth where the word 'Rainbow' is manly.
Team inferno vs team rainbow
The struggle is REAL
But Equestria isn't on Earth which means neither is Cloudsdale. So... Yea...
TH-cam Yus I mean in real life the word "Rainbow" Is linked to homosexuality which society has deemed "Un-manly" But this song shows that Rainbows can be manly
Sonicbolt Oh, ok. :3
And don't forget deadly
This is literally the song that got me into this stuff.
I miss the days when songs were actually good.
Bravo, Woodentoaster!
You know I never knew the fanfic was based off the song. I thought it was the other way around until today.
.
Devv Wheeler I totally agree with you.
I'm not even a brony and I love this! Good on you WoodenToaster!
Yeah!
Am I the only one noticing that this only has 2 million views? This should have like 200 million

Song still goes hard 13 years later
You know people hated on us back then (and even now they do) but you can't deny there were a lot and I mean a whole lot of creative people in this fandom who created so many different things, like songs, pictures, videos, memes and even a fandom episode. I'm glad I could experience these things firsthand.
Now a rainbow's tale isn't quite as nice
As the story we knew of sugar and spice
But a rainbow's easy once you get to know it
With the help of the magic of a Pegasus device
[Instrumental]
Let's delve deeper into rainbow philosophy
Far beyond that of Cloudsdale's mythology
It's easy to misjudge that floating city
With it's alluring decor and social psychology
But with all great things comes a great responsibility
That of Cloudsdale's being weather stability
How, you ask, are they up to the task ?
To which the answer is in a simple facility
In the rainbow factory
Where your fears and horrors come true
In the rainbow factory
Where not a single soul gets through
In the rainbow factory
Where your fears and horrors come true
[Instrumental]
In the rainbow factory
Where your fears and horrors come true
In the rainbow factory
Where not a single soul gets through
In the rainbow factory
Where your fears and horrors come true
In the rainbow factory
Where not a single soul gets through...

Hey Woodentoaster do me a favour...
STOP MAKING ME COME BACK TO LISTEN TO THIS
Woodentoaster: Denied.
No
Pls
😭😭😭
I'm also suffering here
Twelve years.
Wow.
I can't believe my childhood show is over 12 years old.
I still love all the music
I was best friends with a girl who was fanatically obsessed with MLP and she was always watching it when I came over to her house. I got this through osmosis but I heard the music she would listen to and I thought it was nothing short of a master piece. This is so nostalgic to me.
No matter how old this song is and if MLP grimdarks truly die down, I will always love this song to bits and pieces
I genuinely tear up just thinking about it so just for old times sake, wherever you all are in your lives nowadays,
Here’s a brohoof for the long road ahead /)
Gotta say it sounds better with the pistons hammering down.
You mean that giant nutcracker? They got that after Black Mesa liquidated. (Freeman's Mind reference)
admittedly, I thought so, too...
also, the steam noises and the crack at 3:02 are missing...
and all the beats seems weaker...
fortunately, BronyDanceParty improved this in his Remix, with an amazing and awesome PMV...
kryo V-nyl dashy Your English is perfectly fine, there are a couple of mistakes but I've seen natural English speakers who don't even seem to understand verbs.
kryo V-nyl dashy I don't know why people who cant speak English worry so much. They're almost always more fluent in English then people who speak English themselves.
Kehvedna Now now, play nice. If you haven't anything nice to say to the English speakers who can't then you say nothing at all.

It'd been 12 years since mlp started, 11 since this banger dropped, a d like, 7 since I listened to it last, and it still amazing
Прошло 10 лет, а я всё ещё слушаю её почти каждый день...
