This made me cry - adopting an elderly cat when her owner abandoned her was one of the best decisions I ever made. She was 16 at the time and lived with us for 1 and a half wonderful years... during that short time, she won our hearts and she taught us so much. She was partially blind, deaf and had arthritis... we happily carried her up and down the stairs whenever she asked and toward the end, we slept downstairs so we could all be together and she wouldn't have as far to go.... She was pure "LOVE," the sweetest girl with the loudest purr (!!) and the most playful, joyful personality. Her body was old but her heart was young. She died at home with us... curled up into her favorite spot. Her poor heart failed her... her big heart... she left peacefully surrounded by love. All she wanted was to love and be loved. We still love her and miss her so... Our dear Moxie 🐱 ❤️ 2000-2017
I’m glad you gave her a wonderful home :D , plus this video always makes me cry and I think to my self, wondering if that’s how she felt, like no one will ever love her again or care about her :(
Old cats are just amazing. It might take them a bit more to adapt, but then they return kids in no time: We've adopted a 15 yr old grandma cat, and after some months she went back to childhood: playing like a kitten, but still having a fully developed character like an adult. She stayed with us for another 7 amazing years :) Adopt old cats if you can!
All cats deserve loving homes! Old pets still have a lot of love to give you if you ever get the chance! If you’re a less experienced pet owner, older animals might actually be a better option than a younger one because their personalities are fully developed so you’ll know what to expect from them when they come home with you.
thewindsofsong I could not agree with you more! It also should be pointed out that older pets tend to be more calm, and less likely to be overly excitable. I love my older kitties and I would not trade them for the world. 🙏🙏💞❤️
Such a beautiful story. I'm so happy Kozal found his furrever home. I won't deny that I shed tears of sadness for those still waiting. This is why I rescue. It's so worth it.
Always adopt don't buy from breeders but also consider adopting senior cats. I just adopted one, he's 13, and hes the most wonderful cat and I'm so glad I didn't get a kitten like I was going to Seniors can have so much life in them (like my cat) or they can be snuggle bugs or logs. There's something special about senior cats
Kozal was in the cat pen that I sponsor with Cats Protection - was so lovely to hear that Kozal was able to find a new forever home. If you can't have cats of your own but love them anyway, I would really recommend sponsoring a cat pen. You receive frequent updated and photos and you can see back over the past inhabitants of your pen. I've seen 14 cats during the 3 years I've been supporting the pen and its helped me since the loss of my own cat and while I'm unable to have any of my own. www.cats.org.uk/sponsor
I really love this little cartoon. Kozal seems like a real kitty to me. To see him pawing at the window and nobody responding is heartbreaking. Good people have empathy when they see an animal or human in pain or suffering from loneliness. I'm glad Kozal got his Christmas wish at the end of this story. I wish every adoptable animal could be so lucky.
Thanks for your kind words, Dennis :) You can read the real-life Kozal's story at: www.cats.org.uk/news/mature-moggy-kozal-is-inspiration-for-christmas-advert Thanks for watching!
Thank You for the link! I just read about the real life Kozal - he sure is pretty! I learned a new word today, too - MOGGY! :) I know there must be an American equivalent, but it escapes me just now. I have an 8 year old Tuxedo girl cat named Babs, who is the center of my Universe - lol - she is most definitely a "one cat" cat, otherwise she would have several kitty siblings to contend with here. When she passes (WAY down the line I hope), I'm going to look for a pair of bonded seniors. Most years I've had two, and love the interaction. When you are able, check out my facebook page at Dennis Evan Hartnett - lotsa pics of my Babs. :) Thank you again for writing to me - I certainly appreciate it!
Just lovely and very touching - I have three rescued elderly black cats and all had waited a along time for a home. Please, please realise that older cats can make fantastic companions, especially if you don't have the time and patience needed by young cats !
That is so touching. I have 3 wonderful black and white cats (strays) and used to have a lovely ginger cat who sadly died at 15 of cancer, but I miss him so. Kittens are lovely, as are youngsters, but they are a real worry sometimes if they like being out and about, but older cats seem happier at home. The animation reminds me of me, even down to the red hair! Support Cats Protection!
We have adopted a number of older and elderly cats down the years and each and every one has given us some golden times. We would not wish to have missed out on those times even if some were quite short. Our happy memories will sustain us until we join them
A really sweet, beautiful story. I recently adopted a 17 year old cat....I can't imagine someone just dropping her off at the shelter. She had come with two younger companions, I was told, who were adopted right away, but no one wanted her because of her age. I felt so bad. I saw her on Facebook. She is the sweetest cat and very pretty, surprisingly young looking.....I am so glad that I did this.
That was a lovely animation, I have a beautiful black cat I adopted from cp,she will be 6 in may, 2018, whilst in her first heat she bolted out the door to meet a big black & white tom who kept coming to my house. Needless to say 9 weeks later she gave birth on top of my satin sheets @ 2.25 am one morning, 2 males, and 1 grey/ blue female. I found homes for 2, and kept the little male with the white stripe down his nose, I named him Figaro!! His father visited him and Keisha for a year, played
My oldest cat is almost 20. Recently given a home to an older, abandoned cat who'd been living rough for at least 2 years and a very young kitten. They'll never be cold or hungry again. I support Cats Protection by playing their lottery. Never won a penny yet but it's for a very good cause :)
I don't know where those onion-cutting ninjas are hiding, but something has to be done about them before I run out of tissues. I'll try spraying the corners and under the bed again.
Merry Christmas to everyone at Cats Protection! You've saved so many cats from a life on the streets full of loneliness, hunger and pain. It is wonderful to read of the work you do to protect and enrich the lives of cats in your corner of the world. I hope 2018 is your most successful year yet. Babs says meowy Christmas as well! Love from San Francisco!
I just subscribed to your channel and gone to view your other social media pages I think its beautiful what your organization does. I have adopted both dogs and cats as well as taken in homeless strays since I was little, because I believe every animal should have and deserves a safe and loving home. Your advertisement truly touched my heart. I've watched it twice and I also read the true story behind the advertisement. God Bless you for what do and may it continue to save lives. Happy Christmas
A lost tortoiseshell cat turned up in our garden in Forest Hall in October eating bread thrown out for the birds. It asked my husband for help by howling quietly to his face so we have made an outdoor shelter as it wont stay indoors but will come into the kitchen for some food..
Awww god bless it's so sad I've got one cat she is 8 months and a small chihuahua age 12 years so at the min I can't hv any more but if I do I'm getting a old cat 😘

I cried shamelessly
Sorry we made you cry 😿 Hope you still enjoyed our animation though.

+Cats Protection I enjoyed it cats protection, miss my cat very much, at least he had a home. Good to see that video from the cats side, Thankyou.

The two people that thumbed this down probably need a hug. 😥🐱
I can’t help that I always make my way to the cat that needs me the most 😢❤️
I loved it...and cried...here’s hoping all the Kozal’s of this world could have the same happy ending. God bless them all.

Aww! My cat was 8 when I met him at Cats Protection and still nobody wanted him :( He was in shelter for over 3 years at that point!
I'm so glad he found his forever home, I sponsored Kozal's pen so I'm especially happy for him :)

Very touching...so glad to know it's taken from a real story
What a joyous day it would be if CP had to go out of business due to lack of need. I wish that day would come.
I did indeed bring out the tissues. What a lovely ending, though.
This is a very simple and moving tale.
I literally cried like a baby. What a moving campaign.
I wish more people would take in these little buggers who are older and in need of a good home! sniff sniff i'm crying.
OH MY! you made me cry!! Beautiful.. and so true the older ones have so much to offer..... don't leave an older cat behind...please.
