Dhoti is worn in 5 different style. North Indian style, South Indian style, Rajasthani dhoti style and Marathi Dhoti style.
South Indian has two subtypes. What Rick is trying is a typical north indian style.
And bengali dhoti... Its totally different..

For a first attempt with no guidance, this was really, really good. The hard part was the sarees and dhoti in that order of difficulty.
I'm sure many Indians would not be able to achieve this level of competence, especially when it comes to Indians from parts of the country where dhotis are not worn. Looks deceptively easy, but is pretty hard to get s neat drape with the dhoti.
