@MrSubaru1387 I have a 2013 outback premium. One of you recent videos you said you changed out the headlight bulbs with LED. Could you recommend the correct LED bulb for my outback mentioned above? I’m assuming it’s just a unplug/plug in new bulb kind of thing. No mods needed. Thanks for the info and thanks for the vids!!

Apparently I found that it was only available on limited and touring models on 2015+ MY. Going to locate the harness and buy the buzzer to get it working.
I have an autel MS906BT. My yearly updates or something like $700 per year! That is entirely too much or do it yourselfer. It’s fine for a professional shop but not for a home garage guy.
I have the mp808ts, for a small shop I'm not paying to update it either. I'll just replace it when it gets too old
Can you not still use it like normal for say 2024 and older models, but if a 2025 comes in unless updating may not be able to work with the 2024's right?
@@RuskiMetalhead Correct. I have not updated it in a couple of years so I can only use it up to 2023 or whatever. But it works like normal up to that.

Hi, There is one thing I dont understand with this update fee, is it like a software update (to access more recent car or for more fonction), or is it more of a license like adobe or office, that will stop fonctionning if you dont pay the update fee ?
Hi, the continous updates are both software updates and vehicle coverage updates. It updates also the softwares that operate the different functions. I read on some Autel products description that you can “jump” 1 year of subscription and if you pay the next year it will update everything even with the updates that you missed the previous years

@mrsubaru1387 How does the OTOFIX compare to the TOPDON units you recently spoke about for the DIYer? Thoughts on what’s the better buy over the course time and keeping it updated?
The Phoenix Elite list price is $1800. The OTOFIX is $1000, but there’s a 15% off deal atm. They both do basically the same thing. The Topdon has topology, the OTOFIX doesn’t. As far as the bidirectional controls and data pids, I think they offer the same functionality.
Topdon uses the competing Launch software platform (the core of it is Launch, similar to Thinkcar) and it’s a lot like Android versus Apple. Some people prefer the Launch-style software versus Autel. Personally, there’s no comparison and I’d choose Autel/Otofix. Since both of these models are considered “overseas/global” models versus the US Autel (software is slightly different), Autel / Otofix does a much better job of translating. Topdon for me had some very rough translation issues on certain tests. Topdon, however, would be my pick out if the bunch if you like the Launch software.
One consideration is that some (but not all) Topdon units come with lifetime free updates
Have you played with the Evoscan Ultra yet?
Do you believe I can connect a Hantek Oscilloscope 1008C with this device? Could it be compatible?
@mrsubaru1387 can you still use the scan tool after two years without the updates on anything it was already updated for and older or is the subscription mandatory for use ?
Pretty sure it functions just the same without updating.
Very interesting! It is hard to believe that Autel would allow a company to re-badge and sell their product for a lesser price and still be compatible with all of their accessories and, in particular, software and software updates. It makes one wonder how long this level of association and cooperation will continue!

A weekend guy like myself will buy at this price. Its $500 they wouldn't otherwise get. It's $300/year after two years but it'd be cheaper to replace than resubscribe.
@@charlesstoddard2458exactly. Companies do that all the time. Take for example that one company owns both ryobi and Milwaukee. Both pros amateurs will be buying based on their budget which means the parent company gets a bigger share of the market.

I am curious. Why would one need to update it and pay the hefty update subscription? My car and it's codes won't change, this year, next year, or any year after that. Also, as a programmer myself, I doubt that ANY car mechanic do any programming at all on any cars. Changing some settings/configurations yes, absolutely, programming, highly doubtful. It seems like one of those terms mechanics use to make what they do sound more complicated/difficult than it really is in order to convince the customer that they definitely need a professional mechanic to do the work. I have configured a couple of ABS modules myself and it is not difficult. Just a matter of changing a couple of setting to match the car's specs, that's all.
Thanks for this clarification. I'm personally getting confused whether I should buy a more expensive scan tools. I guess Otofix D1 is suffice.

I recently purchased the OTOFIX D1 Max from an auction. When I got home and opened the box, the tablet passcode was set and it was not provided. Unfortunately, the phone number for Customer Service hangs up when I call and I'm still awaiting an email response. Any advice or is this going to just be a waiting game
You should be able to reboot it and get into the Android boot logger screen and choose the option to do a factory reset on it. Once you do that it should erase the pin code and bring it back to factory settings
Will any of yhe $60-80 topdon scanners work to reset a 2015 outback rear blind spot sensors?

I wonder if this thing can do the Occupation Detection Module Live data or resetting. Because Subaru is really tricky about that module that few scantool can't pick it and reset that module.

I can’t understand why Autel would do this but as someone who has purchased their equipment for home DIY it’s kind of annoying to see the huge price differences. For example Autels battery testing unit €299, otofix’ unit which is identical is €119.
maybe a new professionell line come up and the old scanners get a new life? Autel for professionel line, otofix for little shops or diy?
@@TruthMatters-fq5sz in regards to the battery tester it’s the same looking unit that does the same job for half the price. Regarding the D1 lite again, far cheaper, does bi directional and also key coding. So that why it doesn’t make sense, you pay less and get more. I just wish I had bought the cheaper kit and gotten more.

I have exact this scan tool, i really dont like that doesnt show all live data, for example at bmw e46 2.0 diesel are not showing MAF sensor values !

Trying to work that out with OTOFIX. The promo code they sent isn’t working. Hopefully they fix it soon. This tool, according to OTOFIX, only works with the AUTEL MP408 scope.

Over the Phoenix MAX I have now? No. Still think the Topdon Phoenix Elite edges it out as well. At any rate it’s a heck of a tool at the price tag.

Will an Autel Maxiflash Elite work with this unit?
I know this videos is of the pro, I can't afford that right now just starting my own shop. I would like to know what your preference may be between the Topdon artidiag900 lite and the otofix D1 lite if you have any opinions. I appreciate it.

Get this if it's really a rebranded ms906 it will run circles around snap on and top don any day. I had topdon Phoenix smart it was a $2400 paper weight most of the bidirectional functions didn't work it was a heaping pile of shit their tech support sucks and will tell you the manufacturer doesn't allow bidirectional functions even though it works on the autel.. I've been using autel years I would buy a snap on before ever considering a top don. That's saying a lot. My ms906bt has not been able to through 1 car out of the 1000's I fixed with it.

From what OTOFIX emailed me spec wise, the Pro is better than the Max.
D1, D1 max, and D1 pro all seem to have the same functionality. The D1 lite does not. The Max and Pro have a bigger/better tablet.

It'll work up to the year it was last updated. I have another autel scanner that hasn't been updated in 3 years. works fine.
nice tool BUT last update on the tool 4.01 not included ALL 2023 subarus (like 2023 Ascent ) ... website say last update 4.10 and should support 2023 Ascent .. but no way to install it ...
contacted suppot the moment i told them its OTOFIX D1 Pro, they stoped respoding... Hm...

Must use cheaper internals than the Autel, capacitor quality, smaller board traces, something to explain the price difference.
Could be a cheaper processor but very well might just use the same boards from the autel since it doesn’t make sense to make different ones. Just a lower profit margins.
If you think about it, if you can sell more products with a slightly lower profit margin to more people, you will still make more money. Most professionals already have a scan tool and they really don’t need another one. They’re probably looking at capitalize on the DIY market where you’re not willing to invest $1000+ on a scan tool but maybe 500.
Think I read the RAM is lower compared to the comparable Autel model
it dont have the j3524 or compatible,,this use for coding,,its about 2 thousand dollars,,i would buy the lite,,,,or i might go for the autel for a couple hundred more has all that stuff,,

Yeah. The AUTEL equivalent has topology. Reached out to OTOFIX to see if you can see topology on the D1 Pro, but haven’t heard back yet.

You need the Otofix Ultra to see topology, all the D1 models have similar functionality, the max and pro are faster and larger than the standard D1.
