    Brilliant. Did the job perfectly without sticking screwdrivers in flywheels etc. Very clever.

    Thank you for the great idea! Since most holder tools are made out of metal most of us would think we would have to make something out of metal to make a DIY tool but you've shown us that would is plenty strong!

    @mrexecutive1 I started out 6 years old handing my father wrenches as he was restoring his '66 GTO (The red convertible at the beginning of many vids) at 14 I bought my own car and did a frame on restoration and from there I have had more formal school and training.

    Good idea. As you know, special tools are the biggest irritation for the backyard mechanic.

    What does the timing mark have to do with anything? Am I missing something? The covers on, all your belts are on and turning the crank is just gonna turn the engine.. what am I missing?

    Can you specify what size the "Harmonic balancer puller" bolts were?

    • @1AAuto
      @1AAuto  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Ryan Kelleher Thanks for watching! Unfortunately we do not have the exact specs on what was used on the vehicle. However you can usually rent a puller tool from local auto parts stores and it will have a selection of bolts to use! 1aauto.com

    Does this work to get the bolt loosened as well? What a pain in the neck this has been... I really prefer not spending 100 bucks on a tool i will only use once.

  • @thewishmastur

    so the pulley mark has to align with the timing mark?

    Tried this and the 2x4 split in two :(

      I ended up using an Arnold 20" universal lawnmower blade which has a "-- o --" hole pattern (slots instead of holes for the two bolts which worked out perfectly for adjustable spacing, but the hole in the middle was too small for a 22MM socket. Let me tell you it took me 3 drills and 4 bits to get the hole large enough and nearly gave up but managed to fit a non-impact socket through my final result. The impact was just a hair too wide. For anyone else trying this, I _highly_ recommend just buying the correct tool as shown on many other videos. I was desperate to get the job done and could not wait the week it was going to take from an online order, but in hindsight, I would have started working on this only after getting the correct tools.

      If you don't get an answer on this, just measure the distance between the holes on your harmonic balancer.
