- It can be driven either seated or from a standing position. Frank Haines had a career with the U.S. Postal Service and now, at age 81, he still drives a postal van - a 1963 Studebaker Zip-Van . He shared it with RIDE-CT. If you enjoy this story, please don't forget to subscribe to RIDE-CT - Classic Cars. To learn more about the Zip-Van, visit classiccars.ride-ct.com.
Frank is a friend of mine. He is as much of a gentleman as he seems in the video.
Great Video, glad I found this channel. I hope Frank enjoys this vehicle the rest of his life.
Very cool! So glad he found it and rescued it and gets to relive his youth.
When the local post office auctioned off their Zip vans I know a guy who put in a bid. He was looking to buy one... he got all of them! Don't know how many he had but I know he used two of them on his farm for storage for many years.
Just out of curiosity, where was this?

I remember those postal vans.
I just came across this old zip van in a field today
I wondered why Studebaker couldn't have won more U.S. gov contracts (to stay in business) especially the ZIP van. AMC under bid them, figures. I can't think of what AMC built that could replace the ZIP. I would love to have one of these.
