Interesting meditation method which bears some similarities to ancient Taoist and Cha'n practices. Perhaps there was some Chinese influence earlier in the development of the sect.
See Wikipedia: Arhat In Buddhism, an arhat (Sanskrit: अर्हत्) or arahant (Pali: अरहन्त्, 𑀅𑀭𑀳𑀦𑁆𑀢𑁆) is one who has gained insight into the true nature of existence and has achieved Nirvana[1][2] and liberated from the endless cycle of rebirth.
The mantra used traditionally are the words " Samma Arahang " pronounced ( sam-ma-ara-hang) which mean " the purest state by a human, attained the correct way" .

it’s from Pāli language: sammā arahaṁ; sammā means *right* and *arahaṁ* means the highest level of awakening (arhat) :)
