Idk, game was kinda messy and buggy, if it was released by EA or any AAA company would get a 2/10 from reviewers, but as it is an indie game it can get away with the technical issues and some not well done stuff,
Just started playing Outward, and I’m blown away! This game is criminally underrated-hard to believe it’s indie! The complex mechanics and immersive world have me hooked. I can’t wait to see what’s next from the developers!
It's a nice game especially in coop but it really deserves a graphics update, better animations and making melee combat a tad more interesting otherwise the replay value is nice and there are nice mechanics if you give it time.
Problem is the og game was made with two people in mind at most, like two beds in player houses, main quests not affecting the coop player in any way so you have to progress everything in your own playthrough and so on. Kind of stupidly limited.
Pearlbird mask + master merchant attire ftw, or even the Abrassar trainer to give even more speed, legacy pearlbird mask into cutthroat pearlbird mask intolegacy jewel bird mask + Diademe du Gibier meal + drinking water and zooooooooooooooom
These devs seriously need to make an MMO, ignore all the expectations of modern MMO's. Do exactly what you're doing with these games, make it massive, make it hard, make it unforgiving. Everyone is a normal person, no one is the main character... Unless they build themselves up to become the main character.
Characters look way better this time. Not very into the art style, but the mechanics of the first game were super interesting. I'll keep an eye on this.
**Legacy character enters the chat** Rissa Aberdeen: 150 silvers/Tribal Favor or lose your lighthouse home, just like I asked your father/mother before you, and their grandfather/grandmother, and their great grandfather/grandmother even before, basically your entire ancestry since the world exists. "Oh shit, here we go again..."
I looove outward, played it a lot with my partner, can't wait for this one. I hope it keeps the grimey vibe and eastetic from the first one, it really felt like you lived in a real hard world. Something games go to polished in my opinion and then all character is gone
At the moment, only 2-player co-op is confirmed, but it would be nice to have a 4-player co-op option. Atleast we for sure will get a mod to allow that, similar to the one in the first game.
Even in the trailer you can't keep yourself from getting railed by the mobs😂 Hey, even though outward was frustrating and hard, it was also great fun. I'd love to see how the sequel improves upon itself.
If you don't like games that slap you on the face when you start and don't tell you anything about how to get things, don't play it. Otherwise, it's going to be an awesome adventure, trying different things, exploring, and experiencing many other awesome aspects of the game. Game gets easier when you learn it.
This is exactly what the game doesn't need. I swear so many people just don't understand the design intent with this game, it's not about speeding through the world at mach 2, the journey IS the game. If fast travel were to be added, it would completely ruin the game. Same with mount because you could just avoid every encounter. You are supposed to explore, get lost, struggle and eventually reach your destination. There are so many stuff to do in the maps they have designed, people are just not curious enough I swear.
@@Playful2504 Not true at all. There are many items and perks in this game supposed to make you go really fast and skip unecessary things. Only at the beginning it's a tough game leaning more on survival because you wear rags and have crappy weapons, no money and no skills nor recipes to know how to make good potions as force multipliers out of various ingredients (or even meals). But after that? You just travel god speed on full stamina and full stamina regen with at least master merchant boots and pearlbird mask, maybe even the desert meals and that's it. You simply go straight to where you need to go quest wise unless you need to do a side quest or a dungeon for a specific item for a build. That's especially since the quests are timed and can be failed that way, which is an interesting mechanic forcing you to stay on tracks instead of the Skyrim syndrome of "You have now 200 sidequests to finish in your journal, good luck keeping track of everything". You don't want to loot everything at this point unless really short on money but even then there are easy ways to make money when you know where all the palladium is, farming mana stones and hackmanite, the good ingredients to make valuable potions, the rich iron veins to get valuable gems, even defeating the Light Mender Lich to get every week said valuable resources to sell/craft, various enemies dropping say Occult Remains which can sell good and so on. Or you just go to the dungeons clear them easily with a solid build and gear and rush to the ornate chests which can be repeated for good loot. The game rewards exploring and replaying it or having knowledge of it and no resource in this game is exactly useless, but you want to focus things for your character's needs and interests. Now I never carry a pot or alchemy kit with me and just do everything at home before going because it's just unecessary weight in the backpack. So in practice, this game really does need a mount, not fast travel though. A mount to reach a new area without loading screens. I'd love to see the journey between say Cierzo and the Marsh, or the Enmerkar Forest and the Desert. Something smooth like that, just a world built in a single chunk, bigger to still require camping and backpacking outdoors, all with a mount, instead of using three travel rations all for a loading screen. That kills the immersion and is very much an outdated thing to do on a technical level.
@@Doomguy-777 Alright you got me in the first half, I do agree with you actually because an experienced enough player will absolutely know where everything he needs is, and rush to acquire Master trader set or pearlbird mask etc... which is stuff I use all the time in my playthroughs. But these things are designed to make you faster, not exactly to "skip" stuff in this game. You can abuse them to outrun every mob basically, but that's not the intent. It does allow you to go search for the things you're looking for faster tho. And for the mount to travel between zones I really like the idea, unfortunately I'm not sure if this is something that they can do from a practical standpoint (removing loading screens), but the concept is very nice. The only issue is that if you have a mount to travel between zones, what would justify you not being able to use in to travel across zones also ?
@@Playful2504 The idea is in dungeons you shouldn't be able to bring said mounts along. Shouldn't be too hard to do. Or make it so the player can't fight from it, or even being knocked off of it by an enemy attack while on it. "But these things are designed to make you faster, not exactly to "skip" stuff in this game. You can abuse them to outrun every mob basically, but that's not the intent. It does allow you to go search for the things you're looking for faster tho." So yes, dungeons shouldn't be skipped most of the time but... Being faster makes everything better because now you don't need to eat, drink and sleep nearly as often, it's an efficient use of your stats and items. This is why Ouward 2 is said to be more "content packed" (we will see if it's true in that sense), because the running in this game is a bit over the top while there is barely anything to do aside a patrol of a couple bandits and a basic chest with just iron scraps in it. And then you realize that camping is mostly to do some repairs, regain some burnt Health/Stamina (but not even, because it's easy to make a bitter spice tea and mineral tea, or any special dish, loading yourself with pungeant paste and Gaberry/Marshmelon spreads/Spiny Meringue before you leave town). I don't even really find a use for alchemy kits and pots when going outside. That's why being fast in this game is a more than just comfort imo, especially since dodging for some bosses is more important than being able to parry or tank hits. If I was wearing my candle plate set all the time without merchant boots and pearlbird mask, it would be very painful to play the game even going in a straight line on the same trails over and over again. So it's up to the devs to find a proper way to make travelling enjoyable. It doesn't have to be easier exactly, but more enjoyable.
The first one was cool, but had a little bit of running simulator vibes. There were also some really tedious mechanics. Hopefully that gets cleaned up without ruining the charm and uniqueness of the game.
Damn… not me teary eyed over a video game release 😭😭😭

Outward deserves more fame &success. Love that O2 is being done.
Loved split screen on the original
So agreed
Is it not in this one?
If it’s not we riot tf
On steam it says it has split screen and online. So i'd say its in it.
Personally i hate split screen cause it makes my game laggy, i really really need a new pc
Man this came out of nowhere and I’m all in for it!
It was hinted at for a while that Nine Dots was working on some kind of sequel or spiritual successor to Outward.

Can't wait to splitscreen this game. It was a tough journey but that's what made it so fun.
Local Coop?
Oo nice, the first one was really fun, but it felt a bit clunchy sometimes, hope this one improves most of the current mechanics ♡
I'm hoping for a better story. I like the struggle, but I need something to keep me engaged.

Some of the best gaming news in years.
The last sound track slapped. Keep it going!
Wow, my sis is gonna love when she hears there's gonna be a sequel
"my dear simian" - hold on a minute there
Simeon- the ruler of the desert kingdom in the first game
Its just Outward but it's 2. hell yeah
This has the potential to be the best RPG of all time. The first Outward was a rough gem, but the charm and atmosphere of the world was unrivalled
Thank you yes. Loved the first game. Can’t wait to dive into the next game. Cheers Nine Dots!!
Simeon is hella old. He’s pretty old in the first game. 50 years later, he’s still alive somehow. Calixa probably gave him some kind of blessing.
That's because he lives one year per silver coin you gave him for that one skill he taught you and celebrating at the inn drinking to his health lmao
Soundtrack on the first one clapped hard
It had no reason to go that hard but it did, it did for us...
This made my entire year so much better. Feels nostalgic.
Yes!!!!! Outward is in my top 10 games list.
So excited for this. The first is one of my all time favourite games!
The creators of this game are doing God's work. Splitscreen co-op, the feeling of adventure, etc. this is an RPG done right!!
