I'm a 80 year old bass fisherman and no great on the electronics but your the best when explaining how to operate it so thanks . Keep up the good work.
Thank you for posting this video. It's probably one of the best easy to understand straightforward explanations of what your 2D, downscan, Side Imaging versus forward looking sonar.
Thumbnail is clickbait but content is golden. Thanks for your videos Johnny. PS I understand why the thumbnails are what they are. I’ve always loved the content
Good stuff. Gonna watch the other videos you've linked. I am never quite sure exactly how far behind me something is once I've passed over it with 2D and down imaging mounted on my trolling motor.
Great video Johnny. Thanks for posting. One of the hardest things to do is correctly identify bass that are setup for feeding. I'm going to start paying more attention to my side scan to identify a group of bass. I usually use down imaging and 2D sonar to look for bigger bass. I love your "on-the-water" live feeds when you identifying bass on your electronics. Keep 'em coming! Thanks Johnny!
Great lesson Tyler, Thx! I’m glad the pro’s don’t like you teaching us how to use this information! I don’t call them pros anyway, they just give there subscribers crumbs, they don’t know how to keep subscribers. You do! I’m proud of you! You did a lot of work learning this. Keep the faith brother’👍🥸🙏
I only fish saltwater, but i learn a lot from your educational videos on the electronics.I have a garmin stirker 7 sv and i am just started using fishfinders recently, but watching these videos will help me get real familiar with them hopefully,so keep these coming as they are very helpful.
Johnny. Thanks for the video. Do you have setting for Garmin Echomap UHD units ? Do the settings in GPSMAP 1022XSV comparable with Echomap unit , which is more consumer level price range. If not do you plan to make them in future ?
What are your thoughts on shoot thru hull transducer mounting vs mounted outside. I got tired of breaking them off and mounted mine inside. I fish heavy timber. I can’t see a difference but I’m only running 2D.
Where can I send my helix 5 chirp side and gps? I am new at this and want to scale down so I can spend more time fishing oh yeah I used to be a big bass guy but I’m in my 60s and do more drift fishing for channel cats. I’ve learned much from your videos Thanks Chip 10:09
Hi Jonny, Great videos. Could you double check your humminbird Contour mode off and on. It seems on my unit that if I have center black area representing depth, the bottom side image is just compressed horizontally Therefore I still see a 100 feet of the bottom, not 60 feet. I'd really like to understand that better. Am I missing something? Thank you, Guy
I’ll double check it. Now that you say it, I’m not sure if Contour mode removes the black space (water column) and the adds more range on each side. Good call out!
How do you tell the difference bt a return from a smaller bass in the sonar cone from a big bass on the edge of the cone? Wouldnt the returns be similar?
Yes this can happen. I usually idle over fish twice to make sure I didn’t get a partial scan and also make sure the fish are locked in a specific area. I don’t find that it messes with the fish too much.
Excellent video, a couple of quick questions: If it were your money which brand do you prefer Garmin or Humminbird? And, I fish saltwater in Australia (no Bass fishing) do you have any saltwater specific videos?
In terms of the best overall value, I would get a Lowrance Elite FS. It’s around $1,000 and the imaging is comparable to most Garmin units. I have the top of the line Garmin Unit with a GT56 transducer, so in total it’s around $3,000. The imaging is great, but not that much better than the Lowrance Elite FS. The only other thing to consider is if your console unit networks with your graph in the front of your boat if you have one. I’ll be making a video about my new setup on my boat soon.
Okay, Firstly, I watched the entire video, and I didn't hear anything about why a pro dose not want you to share some information. Secondly, I didn't hear any secret that is a function of someone's unit that is hidden in the menu. I think the video would be better titled "How to use your sonar's settings to identify fish and their size". Just my opinion.
He's just saying this is information that pro anglers understand and he wants to pass it on to you. The title is to get your attention. Don't take it literally.
I like your channel, and like your content and understand why you use the titles.... But i agree with others, this one is too much, no ground breaking info here and i guarantee the pros dont care
Did I say he should only post ground breaking?? If so please show me where. I think "Secret" was a key word in the title. There's nothing in here secret. It's all VERY basic and general information understood by even a decent novice angler. I didn't say it was bad information. Didn't say it was not useful. More like a "beginners guide to electronics" or "basic fish identification tips" but those don't get the clicks. The words "secret" and "pro" was thrown in to mislead and get clicks...I understand why, but I have to draw the line somewhere as would anybody and you can't argue that.

Your content is great. And I will use the information on my journey to learning to use my electronics

Agreed. The thumbnail is just pure CLICKBAIT
Please get rid of the clickbait. It's so beneath the quality of content that you put out.
Good stuff. Gonna watch the other videos you've linked. I am never quite sure exactly how far behind me something is once I've passed over it with 2D and down imaging mounted on my trolling motor.
Excellent video, Jonny!! Best explanation I've seen yet. Your videos keep getting better and better!
Glad you think so!

Excellent show as usual JS
Glad you enjoyed it
Excellent presentation. I still struggle with interpreting my graph; however, I keep practicing. Thank you.
Thanks
Awesome video!!!

Good morning
your video titles are hilarious 🤣 70% of Canadians agree
Excellent video
An another great video , higher return is more scale is on fish , not so hit return means like catfish or whatever it maybe
Wow man. You continue to know em outta the park. Atta boy!
Glad you enjoyed!
Great video keep em coming
Thanks! Will do!

How universal would the humminbird settings be between a solix unit and a helix unit?

Great video! I'm in the market for my first unit and I have a budget of $400-$500, do you have any favorites around this price?
I would get a Lowrance Hook Reveal 7 of 9
@@FishtheMoment Thanks man!! Will look into getting one.
Great video! Thanks us poor folks won’t ever have FFS…😊
Great vid but I don’t think the pros are worried about this video 😂
What a terrible click bait title. Don’t be like Randy and Matt. No clickbait needed. You have top notch content.
👍👍👍👍👍
I feel like the old 2D is easier to see fish and structure than clearvue

Naming is unprofessional. Just assume it’s the ones you watch or don’t watch.
All the ones you don't like.
Probably Randy.
