I stand by everything I said in this video but now (the day after posting) it’s clear to me that I’ve put myself in a place where I’m just trying a bit too hard to be nuanced, balanced and nice. Everything I said in the video is right but I think I should’ve made it more clear that: it’s too expensive for what it is. I’m not very excited about this synth because there’s just not a lot to be excited about. It’s not bad. But it’s just not exciting. Everything doesn’t need to be exciting in the first place. It’s a virtual analog synth from Korg - that’s it. I’ll rethink my video making process and go back to my unscripted, looser format. Still nuanced and reasonable but letting my personal opinions on things shine through more.
BTW, you CAN go straight to each OSC volume level, by holding the 'shift' key whilst turning the 'tune' knob, after selecting which osc you want to change.

I think your comments were RIGHT ON THE MONEY! It's a great little synth. I owned the original one, and yes there are somethings they should have improved upon. An improved arpeggiator, with a couple of user slots, and the big one, reverb & delay at THE SAME TIME!! Maybe they'll be a firmware update coming, but I'm still getting one.
Hmm... it's a re package of a decade old synth £949 its a bit steep for a 37 key synth.. i was expecting around the £600 - £700 mark like the roland gaia 2 .. gonna be a hard sell i thnk.

I once had a king korg(black) and I was able to summon up some great patches over and over. I sold it to afford the Waldorf iridium keyboard. I admit I do miss the simple immediacy of the king Korg. I certainly couldn’t program deep esoteric evolving soundscapes but to be honest, How many songs actually take full advantage of that kind of deep programming. Tge most important aspect of a synth is the QUALITY of its basic components. The oscillators and filters do sound pretty damn good. I have entertained buying another king Korg and if they included the analog tube on the Neo, I’d buy it.

Perfect synth for someone that wants those analog or digital synth timbres to add to their music without the hassle of 'knob per function' analog or 'menu driven parameter' programming digital synths.

It looks very star wars like. While i like it in pictures and video i cant imagine wanting a white shiny synth when i am jaming at night. after all i waitet all day for it to get dark outside. But it looks really nice. Will be a horror to clean after a year i predict. Which reminds me of what lengths i had to go to dim all the Sunlight Level Leds on my Minilogue XD. I tried 3-4 different adhesive Led dim foil until i got them to a level where i dont need to go blind when standing over the synth. Is this one also so bright if you turn off your main home lights?
Hi. Is it possible to create 1 stereo timbre paned hard L & R then stack the 2nd timbre in mono within 1 program / patch ect ? I am thinking for creating stereo bass ? Psytrance. As this seems could be good for stereo bass with all the different oscillators . ? Or possibly assign stereo width to a chorus fx on 1 timbre, keeping the 2nd timbre mono / dry... ?
The KingKorg Neo is an almost identical copy of the KingKorg (just compare the Parameters Guides), more expensive with two important "minuses": the overall Tube effect (a rare specificity of the KingKorg which had the advantage to add warmth to the sound) no longer exists in the NEO and of course this very small keyboard. In summary: KingKorg NEO, pay more to get a little less
$1,000 for the King KORG Neo? A good place to start, eh? Arturia's Minifreak is half the price & includes an analogue filter & AT. Watch the R.R.P. plummet short term.
It reminds me of a Micro Korg (ish) keyboard. I’m aware Korg also released a MicroKorg 2, which makes me question this keyboard… And yes these prices are crazy. $1k to me is like Workstation or full fledged synths prices . All the music gear manufacturers have raised prices considerably on their gear… It’s a weird time with music tech, because do I really need another synth for a bass lead or pad ? What does this device do that others can’t ? At the end of the day the goal is supposed to be to make music. 🤔
Personally, I'd have been happier if they released a VST plugin version of King Korg. The design looks good though, even if it looks like editing will be a pain in the arse.
I like the products from Korg but the price is not right for me. If I want one of the new synthesizers. I'll probably have to wait for a second-hand offer.
1099€... Korg is out of reality! they took the KingKorg, less keys, less material, cheap plastic, take away the "Tube" and push up the price.. In 6 months we will see the real price of this TOY.. (around 500/600€ as the MK1 of Wavestate or Modwave)
The synth trends today are all about power and Korg underdelivers with a high price tag most of the time. Still making stuff like it's 2010. Modwave was powerful, not cheap but disgusting to play
I own an OB-6, I own a Waldorf Iridium keyboard, and a Roland system 8. I’ve owned Moog subsequent, sequential prophet rev2, and many many others, I also owned A KING KORG OG. I have considered buying another but passed to consider other options….now NEO shows up. the king Korg was a hugely misunderstood instrument capable of seriously good tone! The prologue too. I think the difference between digital and analogue is an argument for people who are in some kind of audio cult! Gems like the system 8 and king Korg have proved that some folhh my a are addicted to a NAME……analog. All synths, ALL OF THEM are electronic chip based! It’s as if analog synths are made out of vacuume tubes of some-such! No!!!! They are ALL circuit boards and integrated circuits with processor Chips from Motorola etc. analog modeling has reached a point where it just doesn’t matter anymore….reminds me of women paying huge money to own a Coach Bag! There’s not a goddamn dimes difference between the quality of most purses…..it’s that NAME and the pride of PRICE! how about this novel idea, BUY A OURSE THAT GETS THE JOB DONE! with the money you save BUY TWO!!!! I can buy two digital modeling for the price of just one Oberheim or Moog premium and in the long run, still end up with music worth listening to!!! I hear people say, put on these headphones, you’ll hear there’s a difference! Ok, maybe, now add drums, vocals, and an engineer and what do you get? I think this is the first video of yours I’ve watched, and even though I’m not familiar with your YT personality/style, I felt the obvious lack of real enthusiasm you have for this synth within minutes. It’s too bad - this synth looks fantastic, but honestly it doesn’t seem to sound all that great (from watching a few vids), and the price is a real problem. I mean, Modal Cobalt/Argon 8, anyone (also not perfect - I returned my Cobalt for various reasons, but it was way better than this appears to be IMO, and less expensive to boot)? Minifreak? A half dozen others I’m not thinking of that are actually compelling?

I'm attracted to this on the basis it's a good simple synth. If I had anything similar then I'd not give it a second thought. The aesthetic is what would attract me to this instead of other simple synths... microfreak for instance. Would still have other more innovative synths along in that buy list to go along with this.
At $550 it would make sense, but at $1000 it’s kind of a ‘why’? I guess if you’re buying your first synth and everything in your studio is white you’d pay $1000 for it?
Seems like a great "first synth", I feel like the minilogue or microkorg used to be the ideal starter synth, but you have more sound source options with this one.
@Ra_Sharpness_ Oh, sorry! It’s a digital synth with a technology inside that mimics how an analog circuit sounds and behaves. It’s of course not a perfect 1 to 1 representation of what an analog synth would do. It’s the thing a lot of synth manufacturers did when everybody started loving analog synths again. Still digital though.

I’m thinking “I could get a second hand Hydra Synth for that?” Menus dive-e + the feeling that you really can’t get all that sound design-e with it. I’m not sure I should care about the effects in that I’m sure I have much better in the computer? And all the sorta knob space they dedicate to them? I suppose it’s like you’re creating the sound on the synth.. and all the little details add up to something unique, and that’s how you think about it.. but. I don’t know, if you’re going to spend $1k on a synth, what are you buying it for? For $1k.. I want something to get excited about. I mean there’s so many synths $1000 or less.. that are way exciting for me. It sorta feels like “if you want to use presets, maybe this is for you.”

I don’t know…. It is a good product. But expensive. It’s just not very exciting. It’s useful and practical for sure but… The excitement level isn’t there. The vocoder is great though!

Not worth £1k for a two part synth. Better off buying a decent M1/M2 Mac Mini for that price way more value for money. Just not value for money. Synths are getting worse. Sad really because I love Korg but none of the stuff they brought out is of interest or more importantly value for money.
maybe one day.. for its REAL right price.. (500€, 600 max..).. the same price of a new wavestate or OPSIX MK1... but SURE i'll NEVER for this PRICE..korg is going out of MIND with this and the SILLY WS and OP6 SE..

Honestly… This is not a synth to get excited about, this is a synth to get some usage out of. It’s not very special… But good. I can’t take that away from it😃

Not worth £1k for a two part synth. Better off buying a decent M1/M2 Mac Mini for that price way more value for money. Just not value for money. Synths are getting worse. Sad really because I love Korg but none of the stuff they brought out is of interest or more importantly value for money.
