Yamaha T7 windscreen rescue on a budget.

  • In this video I detail how I installed the windscreen adjusters to get better wind protection and reduce buffeting on my 2022 Yamaha Tenere 700. After installing the windscreen adjusters I found an issue I really didn't like, both aesthetically and functionally, and that was the huge gap left below the windscreen when it is in the fully lifted position. I created a template and used a sheet of black plastic to cut out a windscreen backplate to protect the display and reduce the wind noise coming through the gapping hole under the windscreen. If you are interested in the template send me an e-mail requesting it. Below are some links to windscreen adjusters.

Great to see an economical way to improve the coverage from the stock screen.
Very nice mod as well! - Frank

Very well done! Great idea and craftmanship on the cover below the windshield. I have had an extension on mine that's worked pretty well but I really like what you've done!!

I have the same buffeting noise on my T7 as well , some people don't have it or they don't notice it . On my youtube channel I have made a video on making the wind shield shorter so the wind would hit you more on the chest . I also ride a Honda ct 125 and at 90 km you don't notice the buffeting noise like on the T7. The T7 is a great bike but I am still a bit unhappy when riding it on the freeway because of that buffeting. Keep up the great T7 videos. 👍

Thanks. I thought about going shorter, and might still try it. Its good to hear your experience. I also need a better, quieter helmet.

I thought about the helmet as well , I was thinking of getting a road helmet to see if that helps , if you ever find a solution to the problem, it would be great to know.

Damn! That is a smart retrofit! If the "pocket" is still too narrow ... buy another deflector and attach one on each SIDE of the screen???
Better yet, or ludicrously yet put a third deflector in the hole beneath the screen.
    I mean, they're cheap, right?
    Yeah ... that'll work!
    ;)

Perfect solution Stuart! $40 and you have side protection 😜 - Frank

I have a Tenere World Raid, the screen is 15mm taller and the side screens are wider, I get no buffeting at all (5'11") with a peaked helmet at anything up to 80mph, I think the problem may not be so much the screen as the side screens, Rally Raid Products do alternative side screens that some have said made a big improvement.

I have seen the Rally Riad side screens. I am considering giving them a try.

Awesome work! I really like the black backing! I will do the same on my Tenere! How thick was your sheet of plastic?
    Thanks!!!

The plastic was maybe 2mm thick. It waste basket plastic thick.

Pretty clever solution. On a side note, I thought you were in the East now? The terrain sure looked West.

I filmed this in New Mexico. T7 is in New Mexico. I go back every month.

Hi Matt, Great video. I just put the windshield adjusters on my T7 and want to fill the gap like you did. I just sent you an email so if you would be kind enough to send me a copy of the template you made, I would really appreciate it.

    What is that black material?

    • @advmatt
      @advmatt  ปีที่แล้ว

It's a soft plastic that I cut to fit behind the windscreen.
