Thank you--I'm just starting at a university and we have a Starboard in our classroom. I have ZERO experience with smart boards of any kind so your tutorial was helpful.
Yes, you do need software. Our board, came with a USB drive, attached to the board by a cord, that had the software you needed. I am sure you could also download it. Do a Google search on "Starboard Resource Center" and you should find it.
I should give this link to my math teacher. In math today instead of math it was more of an I.T. Lesson for her. We were telling her how to write on the whiteboard but on a different thing. Does this make any sense to you guys? I think it makes sense.
Technically these boards will work without a projector. However, the only way to see what you are doing is to watch your computer screen. Think of it like a giant digitizing tablet.
Hi, thank you for your video. Could i ask you a question about the board? I was looking at the FX89E1 and I would like to ask if it can be used without a projector or a computer. I would simply like to write up my lessons and memorise them directly on the board so I don’t have to rewrite them. Can I do that on this board? Many thanks, Paul
I no longer have access to this board, however if my memory serves me correctly, it can't do what you want. While you could use it without a projector. It would be awkward. You do need a computer. Without the computer it is just another whiteboard. I am not a Hitachi rep so you might want to send them an email to confirm.
I have this in my classroom but it is not amazing yet. Somebody tell me how to switch the mode. do I need a software after plugging in my laptop? because it is just functioning like a projector only. HELP! there is no espact here
This project was a long time ago and I think it cost about $50,000. But the room we created was more than just the Starboard. However, if you are just looking to do a Starboard with a computer, I would estimated it to be about $3,500. $1,500 for the Starboard, $1,000 for the computer, and $1,00 for wiring, cabling, and installation costs. Hope that helps.
