ISN'T THERE JUST ONE WAY TO PLAY?! I used Charizard on my first kanto playthrough, and leveled up three more Charizards to level 20 for the other 3 regions lol
I used Infernape with U-Turn or Shadow claw (for criting) Close Combat Blaze Kick (for criting) Drain Punch This made him very efficient And yeah......Infernape can learn Drain Punch now. Earlier he could not.
I love using Charizard and I always thought it was pretty efficient contrary to what I always hear others saying. Squirtle does sound like a interesting choice though. Maybe I'll pick that up the next time I'm playing it.
johto starters... in terms of story line i would still consider typhlosion more than meganium. just because all the gyms there are in johto... the bellsprout tower in violet city, falkner flying gym in violet city, it has neutral coverage, then bugsy the bug type where its super effective, then whitney the normal type also neutral, morty the ghost type its again neutral, chuck as a fighting type has a poliwrath which will be troublesome for quilava so thats gonna be bad for it, jasmine's gym is steel type with a steelix which can EQ us, but we can one shot them easily :), then we have pryce the ice type and again typhlosion is super effective there too. but finally we have clair and her dragons against which i would recommend feraligator. I would genuinely not recommend meganium in johto... seriously never. maybe except chuck's poliwrath? except that... nah. and about feraligator... idk i just love feraligator less than typhlosion :). except that... yea i believe being a water type, having access to moves like surf and waterfall, but being super effective against only one gym(clair because of ice type moves) and the champion(again... ice type moves), for me its either 1 or 2 for these reasons alone.
Typhlosion is just made good for johto... It also has coverage to amazing moves... I still remember my first playthrough through heart gold where i just used my typhlosion and my team was like level 80 typhlosion and all other in 40s. I didn't make it past red tho his blastoise messed me up
I'm sorry, but I think Swampert is the best because just the TM, Ice Beam(although it's a physical attacker but that doesn't matter for a story playthrough) and it has coverage for any grass types or possibly any pokemon with a grass type move... although it's a big risk since Team Magma and Aquas Golbat and Crobat are much faster...
so... to sumarize Kanto: Best Choice Squirtle - (worst Bulbasaur) Johto: Best Choice Feraligator - (worst Cyndaquil) Hoenn: Best Choice Torchic - (worst Treecko) Sinnoh: Best Choice Chimchar - (worst Turtwig) Unova: Best Choice Oshawott - (worst Tepig) Conveniently my choices of starters went with the "worst" choices with Kanto, Johto, and Hoenn, while Sinnoh is in the middle of the pack and Unova I pick the best.
Welp since I choose tepig and finished the Unnova using it but yeh It worst I should've gone for oshawott but I choose tepig because I can early EV train it's atk and spe
The intro could've been like you and 2 people standing with Kanto starters and when you come onto the main for the region the other 2 people would leave that would've looked amazing
I like that they changed the IVs for starters, I still have my Venusaur from years ago with a 0 Atk IV stat. 6/0/18/9/9/16 is.. pretty bad. I do have a 31 SpAtk Combusken though, so that's nice.
Speaking of sweeping a tough member of the elite four, I beat the kanto elite 4 with nearly no issues, but could never beat blue/Gary with the team I built for the other 4. Ended up Charge beam/automatize/discharge Klinklang and sweeping with him only 🤣🤣
I only play Unova and Hoenn i agree both. Especially on Unova even you say you can get another mon should not effect the ranking but we can say a player who dont use a Krookodile with moxie is playing the run wrong as it is so good with Stab eq and Crunch, dig and i use dragon claw for coverage. Samurott with access to surf is kinda enough doing the job, i Pick snivy and i dont need him. For me i use Krook, Crobat, Loppuny which i get from the event thung really helps me in the early story. Zebstrika because i love this mon even tho it is not good. Haxarous for dd Outrage and Level 10 sturdy roggenrolla for the elite 4 and up battle for setting up rocks. Krook do all the work for me. On Hoeen i box my Swampart too, and i sometimes need a fighting type move which i get it from breloom but Blaziken will be much better. I dont play the other region.
@@patrouski Zebstrika and Lanturn are really cool electric mon which are not good. I love them both even they are not performinb well especially on story run

I agree with you in your opinion on unova i started with tepig and it was shit frr i struggled alot.... Just finished UNOVA and starting my journey in kanto
i know it's not within the spirit of the video but i think you can almost always skip a water starter because Gyarados is so easy to obtain. If you factor that in to the rankings then everything else gets bumped up 1 spot and water moves to 3rd.
You know whats funny, in unova, THE ONE REGION WHERE YOU CANT GET IT NORMALLY. Someone kind gifted me a level 20 gyarados at the start of my journey on an account i lost

I'm glad we have the same the opinion on torterra being the favorite, but I disagree on its ranking. Torterra has a really decent moveset and enough bulk to keep him in the fight long enough to turn the tide, and with eq and leaf blade STAB moves he can catch quite a few mons off guard. I may be biased but torterra used to run side by side with my primal groudon in the main games and with trick room it's a hard combo to beat and can still find as many uses as other pokemon 🤟
What do you mean interact? With the pokemon? I'm not sure you can. I've tried too. You can add me in game, laznik. I'm not regularly online, but if you want to message me I can help.
I completed hoenn and unova in 3 Pokemon party. For hoenn i solely believe treecko is bad... It might be a good Pokemon but for hoenn playthrough it's bad.. i went with swampert i think it's the best one out there and with a froslass and a breloom i was able to defeat the region. All that matters in story is type matchups... So with unova i went with four pokemon emboar weavile magnezone and gliscor... Despite emboar being a horrible Pokemon because it gets no physical fire stab moves and it being slow... it played out well due to type matchups
They probably won't unfortunately. I'd love to see that too but they exist in a legal gray area where, if gamefreak ever tries to get at them they can make the excuse that "we don't provide the roms, where the users get their roms is on them not us". But adding in post-3D transition regions would require creating a ROM hack that translates that region into either GBA or DS style. The problem being that now they can no longer say "where the player gets the roms is up to them" because now they need to literally instruct players on which specific ROM hack they need and where to get it
@@patrouski wow thats rly expensive Which starter needs hidden ability anyway Blaziken(already banned) serperior infernape feraligatr the other dont matter so much

You say Venasaur is worst then Blastoise because of those 2 gyms? Blastoise literally has similar issues with Misty, Surge and Erika? You also roast the other pokemon for speed but don't for Blastoise lol. Both are absolutely great for the Kanto run and both can easily be replaced with others such as Bellossom or Victreebell and vice versa with Gyarados and Lapras. If anything having a Venasaur makes your rival easier to beat too (Sorry Charizard fans) it also means you can happily add the fossil pokemon since they're both water types :)

a good starting point is to look at a pokémon's base stats, whatever stats are higher is what you'd focus on for your moves and want high iv's in

Why is that gift pokemon and starts always have 15 in every iv stat
For balance purposes, and the same reason they are shiny locked. They don't want people resetting and wasting their time.
