    I Really enjoy your shows content, but also the back ground music, and the respectful way you release the fish. Some throw them in the lake like they are garbage. You do a great job! Keep it up!

    The shallow walleye bite is SOOOO overlooked right now. I love ripping jerkbaits through shallow weeds for them.

    Great new edit! It seems like a big bait for throwing into just a couple feet of water but it obviously works great. Does the SD DNR stock walleyes or are they naturally sustainable in that area?

    • @JasonMitchellOutdoors
      @JasonMitchellOutdoors  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Kevin Ahrens they stock these lakes but there is some natural reproduction on some lakes especially with high water. The soft plastics do work really well. Basically just cast and reel.

    Hey there Mr. Mitchell speaking of braid do you know of a good 7foot plus 1 piece spinning rod that the braid doesn’t eat through the eyeholes ? I use 6 lb braid with 8 lb fluoro and after a few months most of my retrieves feel different. Not as smooth when reeling in. You know of n e high quality yet cost effective rods ? The longer the better, one piece

      Jason Mitchell Outdoors just out of curiosity does JM make n e one piece spinning rods longer than 7 ft ? And I will check out your suggestion very shortly. Thank you 🙏

      I have always wanted to get a walleye on topwater. I had one roll up when I was last filming. No takers through. It WILL happen this year...I know it

    • @WheresTheSauce
      @WheresTheSauce 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hobie-Wan Kenobi It was a very freak thing to happen. I was in north Manitoba fishing walleye w/ minnows and jig, (fish on every cast) the tore up pieces of minnow would fall off the dock into the water and BOOM they hit it like bass right at my feet. So I tied a popper just to see if I could get the legendary top water walleye and yep, first cast a nice little 15" eye smashed it LOL.
      Obviously it's not a normal thing, it's very inefficient way to catch walleye,
      You need to find them super aggressive, shallow, and numerous enough that they're stacked on top of each other and competing heavily for food.
      My uncle who spent every summer I'm kenora for the last 30 years said he's only seen walleye like that a few times himself.

    Noob question...I've never owned a boat always shore fish or river...Why do boaters wear bibs? I'd think it would be a natural anchor filling up if one ever ends up in the water

    • @JasonMitchellOutdoors
      @JasonMitchellOutdoors  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      +George Garfunkle we wear bibs or bibs and jacket when it is cold. We also do wear inflatable belts or vests at times as well.

    Did I miss it? What sort of water temps are you talking about for these transitions out of shallow water?

    • @JasonMitchellOutdoors
      @JasonMitchellOutdoors  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +LakeVermilionDreams we haven’t found a magic number when they leave as it really depends on the fishery. On many of these SD Lakes, many of the fish stay shallow for most of the summer. (Less than six feet and relate to weeds.) These shallow rocks will be good for a few more weeks at least but the fish might be a touch deeper than two feet. 3-6 feet most days.

    N e body know of n e good walleye lakes in South Dakota in the Great Lakes area ? I have a fishing kayak and would love to take my kiddo to the Great Lakes area to do some catch and release walleye fishing. ( have family there ) n e knowledge or help would be most appreciated

    • @JasonMitchellOutdoors
      @JasonMitchellOutdoors  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Uncle Wreckum are you referring to the Missouri River? There are great places up and down the river but the big reservoirs might be too big for a kayak. One easy spot that comes to mind would be some of the stilling basins below the dams where you have smaller areas of slack water.

    • @unclewreckum4977
      @unclewreckum4977 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jason Mitchell Outdoors No sir Mr. Mitchell i was told that middle to eastern South Dakota there is the glacial lakes area that have tons of small lakes or ponds that have walleye in them. Guessing around the Webster area. Lakes way to small for a big boat and they may not even have a boat access the small lakes I’m referring to. Thank you so much for the reply and trying to help 🙏

    • @JasonMitchellOutdoors
      @JasonMitchellOutdoors  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Uncle Wreckum yes there are some great little lakes around Webster and beyond. Teeth Lake would be really fun to fish with a kayak when it is open to fishing. Nice walleye and bass managed as a trophy lake.

    Honestly screw scheels! Everything is over priced and you can’t walk 10 ft without someone asking you if you need help finding something

    • @JasonMitchellOutdoors
      @JasonMitchellOutdoors  5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      +Cobra Fish each their own. I have always loved the Scheels stores as I could find things that were hard to find at other places and they do price match. I also like the quality high end items but I also like that service and I like to get questions answered. I also like when they smile and say hi when you walk in the door. There is a place for Scheels and a place for Walmart.

      What’s wrong with Walmart Jason?

    • @JasonMitchellOutdoors
      @JasonMitchellOutdoors  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +Cobra Fish Nothing wrong with either and there is a place for both. Scheels and Walmart are at the exact opposite ends of the spectrum.
