    Thank you for taking the time to prepare this series for us. May you be the instrument of the Lord all the days of your life. After attending church for almost 30yrs. It was just 5 yrs ago after listening to your sermons that I truly understand my faith and what being a Christian really means. I had the map..with all the directions but I was reading it upside down. Amen and thank you Mr Keller. I know that you are not well. I will pray for you and may the Lord give you joy and peace always .

    Thank you, God, for Your sacrifice. You knew I could not keep the Law. You pointed out the Law to me, and then You sacrificed Your only Son to fulfill what I cannot.

    My wife and I have been working through D.A. Carson's, For the Love of God, which we,ve been reading through every year for the last 10 years. Although my wife and I are working through Exodus at the moment, the comments from Dr. Keller coupled with the teaching from Dr. Carson dovetailed for me as if reading scripture for the first time. I truly appreciate rehearing about suzerainty which opened my eyes with regard to when Moses came down from the mountain the first time and threw the tablets down because the covenant was broken. Soli Deo Gloria!

      John MacArthur has called this false teacher out. Satan will have his agents on earth to deceive us. But God will hold him to account for misleading the flock. We need to be as the Bereans.

    So very helpful. I had a seminary professor who said that if we don't understand the book of Deuteronomy, we can't understand the rest of the Old Testament, and I've found that to be so true and helpful! Grateful for you, Dr. Keller.

    Pastor you clearly show us the gospel message and Jesus in each of these old testament books and speak lovingly of God's law and its purpose in our lives. Why do you choose to only follow 9 of the commandments of God's law? The first law given to us is so often the first law discarded and i do not understand why. You state beautifully that following the law does not save us and and purpose of the law is to show us how to love God and each other. Why then do you practice and teach to disregard the Sabbath? God clearly made the day holy and Jesus clearly states the sabbath was made for us, when and why did we change it? God never changed it, why do we let the customs and habits of some men change the holy day God created?

    • @jaminrice
      @jaminrice ปีที่แล้ว

      First and foremost, I'm not trying to start anything here or trying to defend Dr. Keller. I agree with your first sentence 100%, and several others. There are several excellent Gospel In Life teachings about the Sabbath. Have you listened to any of those? I'd be interested in knowing your thoughts. Regarding the Sabbath commandment, though, it's safe to say that no one follows the rest of the commandments, either. We all have other "gods" that we put before God (i.e. self, money, power, success, sex, etc.), and no one loves their neighbor as themselves. The great equalizer is that all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God, and Jesus is the Savior of mankind. He rose on Sunday, and everything changed. He died for us, so we live for him- not by following a list of rules, but by a constant changing of our hearts. That's why many of us are "Sunday people". It's not thinking less of ourselves, but thinking of ourselves less. I realize this probably doesn't satisfy as a response to your comment, and I wish I was more eloquent. The LORD bless you and keep you. Shalom, and Soli Deo Gloria!

    • @lawrencekuhlman9405
      @lawrencekuhlman9405 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jaminrice Thank you for your thoughtful reply. I agree we all fall short of the glory of God for we cannot fully follow His law and that why we need Him as our Savior. This isn’t an excuse to not try and follow them though. The Law is a delight the bible says and is a light unto our feet. Even though Christ was raised on Sunday, it did not change the Law. Jesus himself said not one jot or tittle would change from the law. Changing the day we worship Him seems like a big change without any clear statement from God concerning this. Even in revelations we see the commandments play a large part in identifying the remnant church and once God comes again we will even continue to worship on Sabbath in heaven according to Isiah. Do you feel like many do that God’s law was only in effect for 840 years between Mt Sinai and the cross or do you feel only the Sabbath law was changed? I believe God’s law is eternal, as it is a reflection of His character and show us how to love one another and how to worship God. Even if we are imperfect at following them here on earth, they remain our guiding light.
