Who I used to feel no empathy for (Dooku) is now having the light shed on their backstory and wow, it has definitely changed my perspective on him!

@@nathandts3401 And episode 8 and most of the plot for episode 7. Not to mention battle front 1 and most of 2 faults for Disney for continuing to contract EA.
I can't say much about Mandalorian as I wasn't able to finish the first season yet. Tales of the Jedi was good, Kenobi was mostly good, what I've played of jedi fallen order has been pretty good and Visions was mostly good. The only things I thought were great were Rogue One and to a large extent Solo.
So, while a lot of things have been good or mostly good from an enjoyment perspective, I still fully believe that what separates these good things from the sequel trilogy is that the things outside of the sequel trilogy didn't already stem from what George had directly initiated which is their only advantage.
See now, if George had done S1 of Mandalorian or Kenobi and then Disney came around with S2 for each of them. Everyone would hate season 2 just as much as the sequel trilogy. So, the only reason they have done well, is that we will never know about the alternate reality where George did it better.
Georges original conception for episode 7 (which you can find online) was going to be far better than what Disney did, which leaves little room for doubt about my previous example.
It's just a good thing that they have had good directors come on board recently for a lot of their different projects and that Dave is finally on board with this.

Some Interesting Information Dooku in episode 4 is no longer a member of the order. Yoda told him he would always be welcome. He still had friends there so he was strongly attached to the order even though he wasn't a member of it.
The conversation about Maul intrigued me the most. Dooku literally looks disappointed that the council don't believe in the existence of the Sith. Dooku does not try to "confuse" them and agrees with his apprentice. Count at this moment is still strongly conflicted. It is possible that if the Jedi believed Qui-Gon (showed that they had changed) Dooku would have betrayed Palpatine.
The scene by the tree emotionally destroyed me. This place is especially important to Dooku. It was there that Dooku began his training with Yoda. Dooku spent a lot of time there meditating, training, thinking.
After Qui-Gon's death, he knew that the Jedi could not be saved and they will never change.
Palpatine knew Yadle had followed Dooku. He literally ironically says he has been betrayed. Dooku didn't know that this was his final test. Yadle counted on the support of the best swordsman. They wouldn't stand a chance. Now Dooku could beat Sidious in a lightsabers fight but not in force.
When Yadle uses force. Palpatine covers his face. Many fans say that Palpatine is a vampire :) but in my opinion he covers his face because he is afraid that Yadle will run away.

Dooku isn't jealous, he's wondering if Windu acted the way he did during the episode because he knew he wouldn't get on the council if he stepped out of line. It would show the hypocrisy of the Jedi, due to the fact that Windu was motivated by being on the council

Episode 4 was my favorite tbh. It was very impactful and the duel was really epic. I personally would fall to the dark side aswell the Jedi really have lost their way in the prequels. As Dooku said that he warned them about the coming darkness - he always believed the Sith have survived and was looking for clues, thats how he found out about Palpatine and joined him because he saw the Jedi were dooming themselves, so he started undermining them as we could see with that cool easter egg when he deleted Kamino from the archives.
Btw in episode 3 the planet they were on was Raxus, which later turned into the Separatist capital planet during the Clone Wars where Dooku also held the Separatist senate meetings

In the Canon books Dooku held a council seat at some point. As such, his frustration with Windu here probably didn't come from jealousy, but a sense of betrayal.
Dooku left the Jedi Order years, probably around ten, prior to Episode I: A Phantom Menace. In the last episode here he should essentially only be on a visit, he left years earlier, but is still respected by most of the Jedi up until Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones. One piece of evidence for his non-membership is his use of Syfo-Dias' identity while in the archives, although that could just be an attempt at anonymity.

    • @js3599
      @js3599 ปีที่แล้ว +2

I do not argue or dispute that theory, and I do acknowledge and agree that her crystal will absolutely be corrupted for Sith use, but why would Dooku not use his own kyber crystal that he already has for his own light saber? It is my understanding that Sith collect Kyber crystals anyway, and the best source for them to find them are from dead Jedi, since the Jedi keep location sources of such crystals top secret, making them an incredibly scarce commodity to get hold of.
I am not so sure, however, of just how they keep it so secret with every Jedi needing to secure their own crystals as part of their training. A rite of passage, and not just handed to them. I mean, each Jedi would likely know where they got their own crystals, which is usually shown to be in a Jedi temple... They would surely know which planet they are on at least... and what it looks like. When Jedi such as Dooku and Anakin Skywalker turn to the dark side, I would think those secrets would be turned over to the Sith too...
Sure, dark force wielders may not be able to open Jedi Temples, but they (Certainly the Empire) could use brute force to crack them open to get to the treasures hidden within...

Dooku did not leave the Jedi because of the Dark Side, he left because he lost faith in the Jedi. He created/led the Seperatists without Palpatines instruction. However he fell to the Dark after this.
As you can see in these two (as well as the one from last time) Dooku is right, the Jedi has lost its way, the Jedi are corrupt, had Palpatine not been able to manipulate Dooku then the Seperatists could have been see as a force of good for the galaxy just as Dooku envisioned.

  • @paulkondon

This series adds so much more weight to Dooku's comment in Attack of the Clones, "I wish (Qui-Gon Jinn) were here. I could really use his help." He is still wavering about his commitment to Palpatine's plans, and only really wishes to hurt the Senate and show the people that they don't have to accept the corruption, joining the Separatists instead. Ki-Adi Mundi's comment that Dooku is a political idealist, not a murderer, and Mace Windu's comment that Dooku was not an assassin, as it was not in his character, show how much respect he still held prior to the events on Geonosis. Qui-Gon was Dooku's conscience when he started going astray, and ended up really lost and under Palpatine's sway after Qui-Gon died.

One of the things we often don't consider is how Windu was so devout to his protocol, and yet when he faced off against Palpatine, he decided then to break the protocol right in front of Anakin, whom he was also hard on. Then we see how he criticized Dooku in this episode for not "following protocol." Windu looked really hypocritical to Anakin in EP3 in that moment. What I love about this story arc is we see the same corruption and inconsistency in the Jedi Order that led to both Dooku's and Anakin's fall to the dark side, because the Jedi were no different than the SIth in practice, even though they claimed to have different principles.

I know the game is considered old now, but I think you would enjoy playing the pc game Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. It has a good story line. It and the second installment are both pretty fun too.

In the past few years these animated shows have completely recontextualised Mace Windu as an absolute dick. He was obstinate, orthodox, and a bit full of himself in the prequels but the seventh season of TCW and this short have pretty much turned him into the absolute worst. With him in the upper echelons of the Council it's no wonder the Jedi were wiped out.

Episode IV of Tales of the Jedi is one of the saddest and darkest of any Star Wars. It is also painful to see that Yaddle is dead.
Remember how Obi Wan felt Alderan's destruction, in Episode IV? Do you think Yoda felt the death of Yaddle in the same way?
Maybe one day we shall find out.

notice how in both epsiodes dooku went against the senate and normal jedi procedure and he was right to do so.
dooku realized the curroption of the republic because he cared about the people, but the jedi are brainwashed since they are 4 that emotions are bad and that careing can lead to emotional attachment which leads to the darkside. when it their inability to handle sudden powerful emotions which is the real reason for the fall.
that's also why the jedi don't really like dookus entire line, with the exception of obiwon, they are powerful, emotional, and they care.
the jedi councle (after 8000 years of peace) saw themselves above politics so stayed out of the senates way which allowed corruption to speard like crazy. dooku and so started to exploring the dark side cause if the jedi are wrong about emotions were that also wrong about the darkside? sideous was able to use the corrupting effect of darkside power to twist dooku's wish to help the people into a tool to achieve his desire for war which would weaken the jedi further.
just like how he twisted anikins wish to protect his wife after the jedi failed him (not freeing his mom{they took him cause he was powerfu}, not allowing him to save his mom, him breaking the code by being happily married, visions of his wife dying and the jedi saying just get over it, and the jedi not knowing the palps {the man anikin saw as an incurroptable grandfather figure} was THE sith lord

@@jonathanscott3914 He definitely felt a semblance of familial feeling as he did tell Obi-Wan about Darth Sidious and Count Dooku always seems to respect Obi-Wan in their encounters. It doesn't appear to have extended to Anakin though. Probably as he's been groomed to be Count Dooku's replacement as Sidious' apprentice, and Dooku never meets Ahsoka, who would be his great great granddaughter in this analogy. Although, Obi-Wan is written to be like the older brother of Anakin who was forced to take on the fatherly role and Anakin can also be viewed this way with Ahsoka.

“The Jedi Order’s problem is Yoda. No being can wield that kind of power for centuries without becoming complacent at best or corrupt at worst. He has no idea that it’s overtaken him; he no longer sees all the little cumulative evils that the Republic tolerates and fosters, from slavery to endless wars, and he never asks, “Why are we not acting to stop this?” Live alongside corruption for too long, and you no longer notice the stench. The Jedi cannot help the slaves of Tatooine, but they can help the slavemasters.” Count Dooku to Darth Sidious

This series is a disgusting portrayal of Mace Windu, Miliarians, and the Jedi as a whole. Standard for Filoni media.
Considering the main characters are people who left the Jedi/became Sith I suppose I shouldn’t have been surprised.
Thank goodness the canon nature of this series is questionable. Everyone involved with the production called it a “parable”.

    • @CobraShadowz

I think you missed the point of the prequels if you thought the Jedi were supposed to perfect. The Sith beat them so easily because they had already fallen, no longer following the will of the Force but the corrupt Republic.
