    I hemmed a tank top using this method and it looks really smooth. The stitch is naturally very stretchy too. Thanks so much for this!

    Thank you so much for your excellent demonstration and especially for using contrasting thread and zooming in close on the video. I love both methods, but don’t have any of the stretch adhesive fabric, so I’ll go with the first. Looks like a winner!

    Thank you so much. I couldn't understand why I had so much trouble double folding knit fabric until I watch this. I've watched dozens of hemming by hand tutorials but I've never seen it mentioned in any of them.

    Thank you! Other videos I’ve watched were completely atrocious and I did not learn a thing. Your’s was great and your stitches look beautiful and so uniform and precise! I hope I can do as good of a job on my dress I’m working on. Or even half as good!

    this saved my life! I had just bought this fine stretchy mesh top for summer that was very light and ADORABLE and the hem started to come undone after the first wash 😭 my brother forgot to run it under delicates when he did laundry. Thank you so much!

    Thank you so much for your video, I love hand sewing, but have not sewn for a while, a little rusty so the video was so helpful. I am starting to make and sew some jersey T-shirts for the summer. Thank you again : )

    Just curious because I like to understand why I’m doing things, why shouldn’t we fold over the hem twice on knit fabrics? Won’t it unravel?

    • @briddishlove
      @briddishlove 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I am guessing it's because the doubled up fabric can look bulky with a knit or weigh down a hem in a weird way that would be noticeable on a skirt.

    • @sawong8685
      @sawong8685 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mine did not unravel. Not folding over makes a smoother hem.

      Knit fabric doesn't fray or unravelled when cut. I've multiple knit t-shirts that I've cut of the neck completely or partially for multiple reasons and after multiple washes on a normal cycle they haven't unravelled but the edges do curl up.

    • @sewway

      Why not. Haven't tried before, I have overlock machines

    What is brand of tape you are using?

  • @freedom1557

    Only turning up once? Won't it fray and loosen over time? Turn up 2 x ?

    • @sewway
      @sewway  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The number of layers will not prevent fraying, but will make the hem rough and ugly.

    Finally! Close -up is waaay better. I mean search for a how to hand sew a stretchy fabric and you’ll see what I’m talking about. Some terrible video.
