    I canned sweet potatoes one year with maple syrup and orange juice. My family loved them. I'm sure they would love these carrots as well. Yummy

    You can reuse and pressure can with Classico jars? The ones with the pasta sauce? If so, I’m so happy because I’ve been saving those for a while!

    • @HomesteadCorner
      @HomesteadCorner  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes! I have been canning in them for years! I always try to get the ones with the screw top lid. The ones with the lug lids don't fit the standard canning lids. 💓🇺🇸

    Those look good. I may have missed this, but does it matter if the OJ has pulp? What do you prefer?

    • @HomesteadCorner
      @HomesteadCorner  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You can use either. I have texture issues, and I can't drink the pulp, but there is so little in there I cannot tell its there. We always have oj with pulp on hand so I use that most of the time, you really cannot tell. 😉💕🇺🇲

    Hi I know very little on canning. Why did you take the rings off after they came out of the pressure cooker?

    • @HomesteadCorner
      @HomesteadCorner  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Once the jars are cooled down, I usually wait over night, I remove the rings to wash the jars (liquid gets trapped in there and they can stick). I store all my jars without the rings, that way if a seal pops, it cannot reseal, and I will know right away so I can discard it.

  • @cookiemama4

    If your jars are 24 oz and you process for 30 minutes, how long do you process 16 oz pint jars? 30 minutes?
    I'm also trying to figure how many pounds of carrots I would need to fill two racks in the canner, 26 jars. Can anyone help me out? 🤪

    • @cookiemama4
      @cookiemama4 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Right or wrong, I came up with about 20 lbs of carrots for a full canner of 26 pints! 😜

    • @HomesteadCorner
      @HomesteadCorner  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We process pints for 25 minutes and quarts for 30 minutes. A good rule of thumb when ever canning, is a pint or smaller use the pint time, and bigger than a pint to a quart use the quart time. 😉 for 26 pints, I would plan 20 pounds of carrots and at least double the sauce recipe. 💕🇺🇲
