Dream first truck! Almost a sophomore in high school and I would love a truck like this for my first truck to drive around during my high school years! 👌🤘
Of course your from Washington, the coolest of the people live on that side of the states. No harm intended. My parents live in Newport. Can’t wait to visit. They moved from Alaska . Love the truck set up!
Super sweet rig! Just got done doing a full 3" lift on my 04 double cab Taco. Getting a fresh suspension under these trucks is the best upgrade a person can do imo! Oh yeah, enjoy those Federals! They are one of the best extreme 4x4 tires out there! I haven't found anything else that even comes close when when you get into a steep muddy off camber climb. And they're cheap! 😎
I’d love to see more detail on what you trimmed and tubbed to fit 37s! I’m currently refreshing my entire suspension top to bottom like you did (ome, not toytec but same difference, uca’s, lca’s, tre’s, etc). I was planning on 35s but now you got me curious haha! I’d also love to see a video of it driving, from inside and maybe outside, showcasing manners and how it handles obstacles. Also, what gears are you running? Keep up the good work!
Steven Prince Steven Prince I’ll make another video soon with that info, minus obstacles for now, most areas are still closed around me. I’m running stock gears, and it actually drives perfectly fine speed wise, I wouldn’t even re-gear for free honestly, I like where it’s at, maybe I just have a healthy 3.4. Thank you!
Everyday Touge Awesome, I’ll be looking forward to it! My 37’s show up today hahaha! It’ll be a while before they’re actually on, have 3 more rims to source and then I have to cut fenders and tub the firewall. Interesting about your gearing, I imagined it would be nearly unbearable from what is on the forums, but I’m happy to hear its totally drivable on stock gearing, I do think I’m going to re-gear but it might be a while.
I second the information of what exactly needs to be trimmed. I'm on 33's with a 3 in lift and I run when I flex. Also more information on the resr leafs. I'm running ome with expedition add a leaf.
@@Edirty6 you have to tub the pinch weld on the front wheel well. During full stuff and full lock, even 33s destroy the pinch weld. So you need to really tub that pinch weld. There was a guy from canada with a red 1st gen who tubbed the shit out of his, he was the first dude to go 37s on only a 2inch lift, like 10 years ago.
This is really a nice rig! Congratulations! Planning to put new suspension + a 2" lift kit on my 2003 double cab, this just makes me wants it even more.
Sweet looking taco! Look into Bud Built and their skid plates, great quality made right here in North Carolina. They have a lot of bolt on & weld on parts that will help you get that extra protection and finish the look you've got going on.
I'm in Oregon, never changed the plates over. The Tacoma and coupe were both finished and sold in my newer videos. Building a 4th gen 4runner and I'll be starting a 65 mustang build soon too.
I hate manual trucks honestly, they just annoy me on trails, I purposely chose an auto. Race truck sure I'd take a manual, 4x4 daily truck I definitely choose auto.
Yeah, I was on the manual train my whole life with 4x4's. My 04 Taco has an automatic and I have to say it out wheels any manual all day long. The control you gain for technical crawling is amazing! I'll leave the manual for my track cars, an auto in a 4x4 is so much better!
Why did you remove the stock airbox? Those intake tubes and open intake cones are the worst. Smartest thing to keep when wheeling a 5VZ-FE in Washington. Also, do yourself a favor and get a proper skid plate.
I have a 6 inch fabtek and was considering 37s or 35s. How much more stress would 37s cause? Gonna go with 11.5 inch width because I like the skinny look and less weight and stress. Maybe less rubbing?
More stress is relative to how it's used. I can get away with 37's because my Tacoma is rarely taken on hard wheeling trips. If you spend most of your time on pavement and easy trails, 37's shouldn't be a problem. If you wheel often and hard, things will break whether you have 35's or 37's. I'm not sure how the fabtech lift works, but if the cv angles are worse than my 3 inch lift and diff drop, snapping cv's would be pretty easy to do.
@@Trail2Touge69 Hey I looked at my cvs and they seem really straight. Also my 2003 double cab tacoma is 2wd. Would that be even less stress with 37s? I want to go 37s if possible but i dont want to cut anything major like the frame. Also since im going only 11.5 inches wide would I have even more clearance and less cutting to do? Thanks
@@BananaBabys Ya the rear is a straight axle and the the diff should hold 37's fine. The wider the wheel, the farther out it will pull the tires, you'll have less side to side clearance than me with my 17x8.5 wides. My setup is skinny, 11.5 wide is pretty wide, you'll definitely be cutting and plate welding like I did. 11.5 wide with 37's is going to be harder to fit than my setup.
are you wheeling or just mall crawling? If you are wheeling, I'd be more scared of flipping because of the 6 inch lift. Your bracket lift has relocated the front axle, so you won't incur stress on your CV angle. 37's just put more torsional stress on the axles. larger tires and the use of wheel spacers put more stress on the wheel bearings.
I still have it. I'm dealing with some serious health issues at the moment, I should be back in a few weeks or so if everything goes well. Not really able to do much with vehicles at the moment.
Wheels/tires/spacers= $1800. Toytec/Bilstein lift/JBA UCA's/Ball joints/Tie rods/Misc. bushings= $1600. Bumpers/Lighting=$900. CB radio/CD receiver= $300. Intake/Exhaust= $365. Total= About $5,000. It can be done cheaper, but I don't use cheap/china parts, minus the AUXBEAM lighting because they have a good reputation. Everything else was either OEM toyota or top notch aftermarket companies.
Everyday Touge oh I see, looks sweet bro, I have a little manual 2 door 2002 Tacoma my father left behind after passing from cancer and I was thinking on starting a project with the truck, yours gave me inspiration 💯
CLEAN! 1st gen all day

Killer rig dude. great walk around. thanks.
I like the simplicity of that rear bumper, nice work!
Ive got a stinger on my 1st gen taco too. 😊 3" lift too on 34s.
man, they do look good with 37s!

Bearings were always my problem, with 33 inch tires and a ARB bumper.Nice truck ,I like the bumpers
I put that same aisin timing belt kit about 2 years ago & 10k miles so far it’s been good
Aisin is an OEM manufacturer for Toyota, it's the same ones they use from the factory
Like the front bumper. Looking to make one

Best Player I just sat mine down on 37’s with a 3” OME lift, 882s up front, Dakar’s and AAL in the rear. Going to start chopping things up soon :)

Just got 35s. Waiting on spacers for the front then cutting time ✂
Beautiful truck. Thanks for sharing.
You wheel it all? Curious about how the CVs are doing 37s ha
HI, working on an old Tacoma as well, did you build your bumpers? Very nice!
Awesome truck! I have a 2000 toyota tacoma trd needs some work but definitely have something to aspire thanks to your video
My 99’ has 360,000+ miles and now I’m looking into doing a long travel build 😅
At this point I don't think I'll own anything besides lexus/toyota until I can afford my dream cars lol, they just keep going.
Your exaust is badass
Looking good can you tell me more about your led yellow headlight or steer me in the right Directions for I can get some
That is sweet I have a 03 with 458000 and it still runs good
Cool did tub the inner fender wells? And cut the cab mount?
……… really thoughtful with the bumpers, awesome truck, hey what do you run for a driveline, if stock , do you have vibration? Thanks for your time!
3 years later. How long did the CV last? Wear out or did they snap?
2009 Expedition here with IFS and IRS
Can do 35” but targeting 37”
Need Rock sliders! haha
Love your truck! Where did you get you front and rear bumper?
What front and rear bumper is that it looks sick
I got a 9.5” lift on mine but I need to get rid of my 35” tires and get some 37”
Why do you have a 9.5 inch lift?
you need to get rid of the block lift, stick to a 3 inch lift and you'll be fine. No toyota ever needs more than 3 inches
I want that bumper. Where do I get it???
That's a beautiful truck, I like that simple non-bulky rear bumper for clearance. Where did you order it or was it custom fab?
Where at in Washington? Coupe or hatch boi? Tacoma g over here gotta coupe 😏
And a yota 😳

Did you sell this Tacoma? Post more vids on it!!!

Are those 5100’s on the lowest setting with the toytec coils?
And what did you put around fenders to seal them?
what did you use to line your fenders with after the trim?
I saw the stock radiator. Is everything else stock in your cooling system and what temperature doesbit run at on up hills on a hot day?
The engine and its components are stock, the temp gauge doesn't move regardless of what I'm doing. I also keep the A/C cranked pretty much 24/7.
Regeared the rearend??
How much did you spend on all of that? Just curious
Did you drop the front dif at all? I am planning on doing 3 inch lift to my 01 taco soon and mayber 37's.
Yes, it came with my kit.
Can I get the dimensions of year bumper?
where did you get the Bilstein toyotec lift from?
Toytec
Did you re-gear?
Nope, all stock
You make that rear bumper?
looking to do something similar to my 02’ tacoma... how much about did this run you?

Kody Eyre both bumpers were custom fabricated
What’s your lift kit? I wanna lift and get tires on my 01 Tacoma but I don’t know what to get
toytec is by far the best place to purchase proper 1st gen taco 3rd gen 4runner lifts
Hey bro hope you’re doing well!
Also where did you get your front bar from? How much was it?
The front bumper? It was custom fabricated, the lights are from Auxbeam though.

Rip cv axels

Custom fabricated
did you have to re-gear for 37's?
No, I was perfectly happy with the stock gearing for daily driving.
What wheels are those?
What gearing are you using for the 37s
Stock gears, most likely not going to change them because I like how it drives currently.
I saw you sold this truck but who makes these wheels?? and can you give me your bumper fab guys number if he needs more business? haha fr tho
what gears do you have?
Stock
How does it handle the 37s?
Well every suspension component is new, so it handles them fine. I'm sure the steering components will wear a bit quicker.
how are your cv joints?
Fine, haven't stressed them.
I want 35’s but don’t wanna cut my taco up 😔😔😔😔
