DUDE your shortcut method was SO MUCH EASIER than mine. I manually added "shadps4" to steam than added in quotes the path to the .ini file. Your version as well as how to downgrade the shad version (emudeck has 0.5.1 to 0.5.0 which runs better) was so helpful I was having issues and this solved it.

I had install the update that allows shadps4 via emu deck but when shadps4 is selected and when I click on install it gives me a warning that says error installing shadps4.
Hello! Thank you for the easy to follow tutorial. I’m currently having an issue getting games to launch, the screen becomes all glitched out then crashes. My emudeck directory is on an sd card and I saw another comment saying they were having the same issue. Any help would be appreciated thank you.

Emulator needs more work for that to happen and the Steam Deck being able to run the game at all let alone 30fps is a miracle in and of itself. Hardware will get better over time too.
If you think about it, the PS4 is more powerful than the Steam Deck. Considering the PS4 plays Bloodborne at 30fps while the Deck has to run it through an emulator, expect lesser performance.
@ the Deck has 1.6 TFLOPS vs 1.84 in the PS4. However it goes back to the original answer of it won’t do 60fps through an emulator considering the PS4 only does 30.
Are you talking about the folder for sys modules? That is automatically populated and we must back up our system modules ourselves from our jailbroken ps4.

Does emulation station support shadps4? When I try to run a game says the emulator is missing but I'm able to run the game shortcut from steam. I added it as a non steam game.

I tried it on my arch laptop with a 1060ti and I was getting some... artifacts? Like polygons shooting out of the body, but reloading the area fixed it. I just installed today. I'll let you know how it runs on my deck once the files are done copying over...

Only way it works with modified shadps4 29.12.24 with modified FOV, and it crushed anyway 😢 I feel sorry for my self what I was jumping on a hipe train, streaming from powerful PC is only available option my dudes 😢.

PS3 doesn't run nearly as well on the steam deck in most cases. this is because Sony made the ps3s architecture very hard to penetrate. meanwhile the PS4 is like a proprietary OS. This "emulator" isn't exactly emulating the way a dolphin would, its behaving more like Wine or Proton
Which SteamOS version are you running? And which branch? Stable or Beta? You could try replacing the app image in applications with another one from github linked in the description for 0.5.1 and see if that fixes it. Please stay in touch regarding this, thank you❤️

For anyone curious, make sure to use the build shows in this video as the latest build has stability/performance issues for some reason.
More like completely broken and wont even launch the game at all.

When i go in my shardps4 folder then there is no sys_modules, there is only inputConfig, savedata, config.toml and config.toml.bak. what should I do
Run shadps4 once and it will create the folders.

Nevermind. Figured it out. Had to run the Shadps4 emulator first, and then all those files showed up including the sys modules.
I only see 4 things in shadPS4, not able to find sys_modules
Did you resolve this? All the files for the Shadps4 environment should show up as expected.
Perhaps try a different build with the method shown.

Really confusing because all my emulation stuff is installed on SD Card.

Change the build version if you haven’t already, I am having those issues as well and I have a feeling it’s likely due to that.

We can replace the shadps4 app image as directed in this video just make sure to run it once in desktop mode before going to gaming mode ❤️

When i click: emudeck dextop, the file opens in kate, how do i fix that?
Are you making sure to double click from your downloads folder directly?
In rare cases, we can right click on the file > Properties and make sure "is executable" is checked.

You should be able to update via Settings > System > Update
