    I quit game dev about half a year ago, but its really nice seeing how well your game is progressing, even though I'm not interested in learning game dev anymore.

    I'm currently a web developer and i'm taking my first steps into the game development world. Its very nice and inspiring see your work and all the progress you've made so far. I know it will take a lot of time for me to achieve this level of knowledge in game dev, but i can say that i'm very happy with this because i am loving the process of learning new things, even though they look so small.
    Keep going man, i can't wait to play your game and also to made one myself.

    I started teaching myself Unreal 5 in August 2021. I plan to release a game by September 2022. It won't be huge, and probably not as intricate as your fantastic 3rd person effort. But I want to release the first one, so I can figure out what I need to know to release more complex games in the future. Your channel is great, and please keep sharing, as it's a real inspiration!

    I would definietly buy a course explaining how to build the systems you describe here , amazing stuff! (Thomas Brush uses this strategy and I think he is doing pretty well)

    This is a pretty good dev log. As a fellow UE dev, you give me some things to think about for my own game. You mentioned previously that you used the Action RPG game and how you needed C++ to setup some aspect of your game, but I see you've mostly been using blueprints. How much of your game is programming/modifying with c++ directly? I like the Action RPG look and feel, but I'm trying to avoid C++ as much as possible.
    Liking your gameplay (e/a)ffect system too. My goal is to have a random weapon generator modular system like Borderlands to make for unexpected combos.
    Looking forward to Q2, good luck with your goal!

      I have modified some of the C++ code and will still have some to change in the inventory and save game code but most of the features I added are in Blueprints. It is just convenient and easier to debug most of the time.
      I will however port some Blueprints to C++ once the systems are finished 😉
      Anyways to answer you question you can use Action RPG with mostly Blueprints but you have to know you way around C++ in case you need to debug something 😉

    Starting to look really nice 👍🏻 One thing I would say is the evade is the same as the standard one in the Action RPG template and it just looks a bit naff - it doesn't move far enough, only in one direction and the animation is too fast to feel good.

      Haha you have a good eye mate!
      Yes that will be changed soon. Actually I created a Movement Ability that the player can change. The default one is the roll but he can unlock a Dash, a Charge... 😉
      I will change the animations soon though 👍

    how did you implement the changing of characters skins or just characters like we buy weapons using souls .Did you write that in c++ or its in blueprints

      It's a bit of both; The character skin is a C++ item and when the player changes the slotted skin in his inventory I update the mesh in blueprints 😉

      @@kistech3839 It's a bit hard to say but here are some tips that might help:
      - Check that all unreal necessary C++ modules are installed. You can do this with the Visual Studio Installer.
      Regenerate Visual Studio files by right clicking your .uproject file.
      - Rebuild your entire solution in Visual Studio, Ctrl+F7.
      Hope this helps 😉

      One of the best channels to learn Unreal with C++ is "reubs" he's got some of the best tutorials and the guy know how to explain stuff.
      You can also check Devslopes, Dev Enabled, Tom Looman and of course the official Unreal Engine channel 😉

    interesting, have you ever thought about using machine learning to make better enemy ai, i'm gonna try to implement that in my game
    edit: ya know the inputs could be the player health and position relative to other enemies and another input can be an array which contains all the enemy ai's that are currently fighting the player, this is cool because the ai could come up with different combat strategies that a human wouldn't have thought of.

    Hey, can I request/ask something? I see that you have Full Controller Support, does that mean that you support PS4 and PS5 controllers natively and most importantly, wirelessly? If not, can you add an option to select the button prompts that the player want to see in your game?
    Yeah, bit of an random question/request, but it drives me crazy when I see Xbox button prompts instead of the Playstation. 😅
    Sometimes games support partially Playstation Controllers. It must be plugged-in via usb, bluetooth won't work(using an third party controller mapper like Steam Big Picture or DS4 fix the wireless issue by simulating an Xbox controller). So if this is the case, having an option to select manually the button prompts to be displayed is a nice thing to have.

    Hello, I found your channel recently, and okay, I’ll make you a deal.
    Recently, I’ve started learning C++ and have been testing the waters with unreal engine 4. I have some bg in 3d modeling and animation, and some exp in unity.
    The deal is this: You provide more in-depth information about certain elements, for example: how to implement weapon animations, cancels, states etc. on a technical level, and I’ll wishlist and guarantee buy the game when it’s done and share it with everyone I know as well.

      Well I really try to put as much technical information as possible in the devlogs without making them 30 min long because youtube doesn't like that 😅
      However there will be more devlogs about specific systems like loot, items, elements...
      And once the game is finished I am planning on creating a complete course on how to make a similar game 😉

    Hi good luck wiht your game I hope what I'm about to say doesn't discourage you because the mechanics look like they could be a lot of fun. The aesthetics look very amateurish to the point I think it will put a lot of people off the game, if you can improve that with the fun looking gameplay I think you'll be onto a winner.

      Art takes a lot of time and I am not an artist, so I had to buy assets and these are the best and most complete I found. I didn't want to get different packs that would end up looking incoherent. So I chose to go with this pack even though it is a bit simplistic.
      I will be trying to get some funding soon and if I manage to, Art will be one of the first thing I invest in and remake 😉
