I never met Robert but he is like family to me. The Cure was the most influential band of my teens. So much joy and pain I shared with their music. The first time I fell in love, the first time I lost a love. Riding high on the waves and finding myself at the very bottom. The Cure was the soundtrack for it all. I sang their songs to myself to get through hard times.
I've struggled with heroin addiction for 15 years and bands like The Cure and Joy Division have helped me in the darkest of times. Plainsong is one of my favorites. I've considered suicide before and the powerful music of The Cure and Joy Division saved my life honestly. Thanks for posting this. Today was a tough day. My girlfriend and I have been fighting and I needed something anything to help ease the pain and I found this amazing video. And to you who recorded this thank you so very much I don't think you could ever realize what it has done for me today.
Super Extraordinary incredibly talented 4 decade MAN! FANTASTIC SONG! Robert seems like such an Great guy.. IT'S A PRIVILEGE TO HEAR HIS MUSIC..I HOPE I GET TO SEE THEM..... ROBERT, YOU EMBODY A WARMTH, PEACE, AND TRANQUILITY THAT NO OTHER ARTIST WILL EVER BE ABLE TO TOUCH.
I fully disagree. Some of their best songs came after Disintegration. Trust, Treasure, Bare, Edge of the Deep Green Sea, To Wish Impossible Things, To the Sky, Out of This World, Wrong Number, Ocean, Bloodflowers, The Loudest Sound...Maybe you should have a listen to the songs post-Disintegration. It's possible some of the greatest songs are yet to come.
Was at the gig fantastic concert.Could not get near the front so had to watch it on one of the screens was still awesome. Also big thumbs up to all the fans not one bit of trouble and well organized..Greatest band of all time...
I have LOVED The Cure for over 20 years Tanya, thank you for this! I saw The Cure here in Denver, Colorado 3 years ago. Robert Smith is so cool! And, you are so beautiful! Love your eyes and smile!
You had an amazing view there Tanya, thx for sharing it . Robert's smile is truly overwhelming...such a beautiful man both inside and out. I love The Cure! This was my first Cureshow and it was a wonderful experience and Plainsong is my favorite opener.
Thank you for posting this. It made me cry, in a good way. I just love them. Much to my regret this is the closest I’ll ever come to seeing them perform. This is extra special to me. Thank you again.❤️
Video is so crisp.. thank you for, sharing the video and your experience. I hope to get to see them live one day... been a fan since 1985 and have yet to see them.
You were lucky to bne there for this show because it was a historic moment. You're also lucky there wasn't a mad crush at the front. Here in the statews whenever there is general admission on the floor people start crushing to get close even before the show starts. Luckily They will be playing this show in Glorious HD with 5.1 surround sound at our local theater on July 11th. I already have tickets for me and my wife. It's the next best thing to seeing them live and since they are ignoring the USA again this summer it will have to do. I think Robert will reward the USA when it's time.
They've made a lot of commitments to play at festivals in Europe all summer long. They'll be in Texas and then Pasadena in late summer. I've heard they might add more shows. They'll most likely tour the new album next year and do a world wide tour.
I'm so envious!!! Nothing better than a Cure show... last saw them in Hawaii in 2016 (both shows!) I saw them like 6x in 2016 and I could got to every show... Saw Las Vegas, 2 Hollywood Bowl shows, Shoreline, and both Hawaii shows... great memories! Although next person that talks in my ear during a concert is going to get their ass kicked, almost had to kick someone's ass at the 2nd Hawaii show, but they thought better of it... and I vibed them out of the show, no kidding, they left and didn't come back! I hate stupid drunk people...
I hated....the Cure until 1991. A friend introduced me to Disentigration and my life has never been the same! I have so much history with this cd and the band. No band in the world makes me feel this way. Roberts voice delivers soothing, healing notes and the guitar and bass tones compliment each other and his voice. This music is so Sacred to me now that, I only listen to the cure when I am alone in the Mountains in November and on Dec 15th. (Walking through walls in the heart of December) from Last dance on disentigration. This music makes my heart really heavy because I woman I really loved was with me when I was exploring the cure in the mid 1990's. We went thru it together, well, shes no longer with me, moved on as well as I. But, those feelings are still right there when I listen some 24 years later.
Ditto! Very special and emotional day for me -first saw them in 1980 with my recently deceased younger brother -this time around I was accompanied by my 2 sons There is hope yet!
It’s not as bad as someone clapping out of beat at the wrong tempo ... ok I’ve watched it right thru I see where ur coming from .. sounds like a few people were murdered .. it’s not screams of joy
I was with you while we're waiting for primary entrance in west entrance. The mexican guy 😉 I really loved the concert. My 8th The Cure, but one of the Best. Kind regards
2 weird things about Plainsong live, in recent years: 1. Robert holds the 6 string bass through the whole song, but doesn’t play it. 2. Reeves plays his own 6 string bass, but barely plays it (just the root notes). Around the early 2000’s, Perry used to play a 6 string bass part in-harmony w/ Simon’s part. These are not bad things, or criticism/complaints. Just something I’ve noticed that sparks my curiosity.
Not claiming to be 100% on this but I don't think it's a bass Robert's holding. For this album and a few he plays a baritone guitar. Which is why many guitar parts on Disintegration, Kiss Me, etc. are rather deep sounding.
I personally think it is because whenever they open with plainsong, they follow with pictures of you, so Robert is ready to play straight away , after the " hello "
I had no problem understanding anyone there in 2012 except a dude at waterloo. He asked. Weh ya bone. I asked. Are you asking where im from. Weh ya bone. Are you calling me a bum. I stood up and said i speak english. They had a funny look on their faces.
Tanya ❤️ aparte de lo muy hermosa que eres, que bacan que seas fan de este super grupo. Como quisiera una novia asi. Pictures of You. Saludos!!! desde Perú
I think he's glad to be part of something that offers world tours every few years. And he gets to express his talents in Reeves Gabrels and His Imaginary Friends.
This song didn't really work half way back, the sound levels were all over the place, luckily they sorted it out after a couple of songs - usual mixing desk fuck up.
I thought things sounded a bit "off" at first...That's okay, they're The Cure. And it WAS their anniversary show, so a few fuck ups were allowed. ;-) Anyway, just seeing the guys there doing their parts was exciting. I can even watch this video in silence and still appreciate it. When Simon came out and stood at the edge of the stage to wave at people in the audience...oh my gosh! These guys are class acts. :-) :-) :-)

Oh.....
Yo John. How you doin'?
Great band ! Great music with great lyrics. Timeless is the CURE now.
There is a timeless quality to his voice and the music. Unbelievable!
One of my favourite Cure songs. I'm grateful to Robert for writing such a gorgeous transcendent song. It means the world to me.
Love the slow motion of him smiling, beautiful.

I was there. The sun setting on a glorious summer day to the sound of 40 years of pop genius. What a night
FJM76 me too. It was amazing.
This is the first time I have watched a live video of The Cure playing and I can say that I was actually there. So fricking grateful for you Robert.

Check out the WISH TOUR!!!!
Incredible lineup/!porl and company!!
40 years of musical genius!
10 years of musical quality......very little after disintegration

I’m so madly in love with this band
I have LOVED The Cure for over 20 years Tanya, thank you for this! I saw The Cure here in Denver, Colorado 3 years ago. Robert Smith is so cool!

6 generations have been growing up with this absolutely great band....
That was a nice story. Well worth reading. Thanks
Was there last night, this followed by Pictures of You was one of the most beautiful ways to open a gig I've ever seen
Best band, best concert intro song, and Robert is a pure class act. Genius.
... you make me feel like I'm living at the edge of the world, it's just the way you smile...
many thanks Tanya for this moment , i watch and watch this video 2 times a week
I'm bawling! I love him so much I cannot breathe!

Great!! This is our youth grown beautifully!!! This is the foundation of our big tree!!!!!
Thank you for capturing the moment Robert noticed me in the crowd. It was when you zoomed in on his smile

I like the video you made... I just saw myself behind you 🤣🙌🏼
Great show of best pop rock band of the world!!!!
Je devais ne pas être très loin de la personne qui a filmé, un peu plus derrière, quelle belle journée.
The Cure were phenomenal. The screaming on this video is doing my head in though :( spoils it
Sorry about the screaming, Matt!

Amazing band......👏🙌
Pity the audio quality is terrible! This is one of my favorite songs!
I'm hoping the clear, beautiful picture makes up for the sound. This version has better sound:

The cure were at spartan san jose. Wish tour. I actually jumped the fence for free. Crazy me. Author. Haunts of san jose
It was never about the RV. It was about the pain.
You can hear me screaming. Thank you for capturing the moment robert looked at me and my friends. It was when he did the weird smile thing
