Great band of compounding instruments Where as for me at least roger waters of Pink Floyd spaced everything out, Robert carries a riff then adds to it genius. Anyways reminds me of my depressed graduate years 1999-2003 lol. It’s cool to see the younger generation appreciate the bands from The 70’ and 80’s
The best version of this song they played. I believe Robert got the words slightly mixed up at one point, but who cares. The overall track was brilliant & his guitar solo was spot on.
Tought Schecter did a nice job cloning the bass Robert has used in recent tours....but listening this video I think definetly nothing compares to a Fender Bass VI in Robert's hands!!!
He's used some pretty shit sounding Bass VIs over the years too, which is probably why he had Schecter make the Ultra Cure VI be pretty much a spot on copy electronics-wise. With a hard tail IIRC. as far as the ultra cures go, a slab of wood with 2 humbuckers starts to sound the same as another at some point if it isn't a hollow body or a vintage Gibson or something. That said, he's used th Jazzmasters, which have their own tonal quality, but also Telecasters, he used the Nationals for a bit, the Gretsch Chet Atkins for a bit... He's been kind of all over the map once he put down the Jazzmasters.
I read they used a Schecter Hellcat VI sometime probably around 2004. Don't know the purpose or which songs were recorded or played. An attempt to replace a Fender Bass VI is documented around 2008, when Robert used a sort of golden UltraCure as original instrument for the Dream 4.13 songs and as a replacement of the Fender Bass VI in the "old school songs". Sounded like shit for that purpose! Good thing is that it hasn't been seen around since then. Probably Robert felt deceptioned and Schecter built UltraCure VI as a copy of Fender Bass VI. Not sure if humbuckers are used, looks like single coil actually but they are Seymor Duncan picks. From my point of view moving to Schecter was just a commercial deal. Even Simon's bassess use similar pickups than the Thunderbird ones. They sound cool!
Damn it!! I Said that as the first notes rang out. I had a Schecter guitar i liked very much. I also have a vintage Fender VI cuz of our man Mr. Smith, and it is just a fine instrument. Plus, this is just one of my favorite solos of all time, any song, preferably on VI!! 🥃
@@FLIP238 what are you on about? The bridge is starting to crash? Boris was in the band for about 8 years. Jason has been in the band for 23 now. Give him a fucking break already. I too loved that time period but we can't keep living in days gone by that no longer exist. Nobody is begging for Porl/Pearl to be back anymore. But there are you idiots that won't give up the Boris ghost even though the band was able to play less songs less flexibly back then. My main concern is when Robert made the decision to go to backing tapes after the 1998 tour. That is what you are seeing as the problem, and I see that too. They don't have that total flexibility to jam out anymore. That isn't the fault of Jason, that is the power trip of Robert growing slowly over time.
@@xlightandshadex Maine you ugly as u look. Boris had that unique Sound Jason never reached. After Boris left everything changed more worse. Saw them live in 96 and it was clearly to hear.
@@FLIP238 you, someone hiding behind a no-face no-avatar account shouldn't be casting judgement. Boris was good but stop the fucking love affair already. I saw them in 96, 2000, 2004, and 2008. I also saw them twice in 1992. Once again, get it through your skull, Boris chose to leave. He's not coming back. He played percussion on the acoustic hits. That's it. Keep dreaming. Give up the goddamn ghost after 24 years man.
Today, the last day of summer.
My favorite song.

Reallllly hoping Robert notices how much better the Fender sounds than those crap guitars he has made...love this song so much

Original Fenders VI for studio recording are rare ..they need copies for the tours..
