    This one definitely a grower, when I first listening to it back in 2015 I wasn't really feeling it either. But after listening to it more throughout the years, now I find myself teared up a little bit during the piano part everytime.

    Matt has said that it was the sequel to “Citizen Erased”, and they both have the same types of parts. Heavy instrumentals, soft and stripped back, pretty falsetto and nice chest voice, and piano. I personally like The Globalist better. In my opinion, it’s the ultimate Muse song. It shows off his piano skills, his gorgeous singing, Chris’s bass and guitar, and Dom even does backing vocals live (plus his drumming is great). It also has some of my favorite lyrics, “A trillion memories lost in space and time forevermore”. And the first and last line of the song really ties the story of it together: “You were never truly loved.... I just wanted, I just needed to be loved”. It would’ve been cooler if you’d reacted to the one with Drones after, it really ties together beautifully.
    Anyway, great reaction. This is one of my favorite songs. I’m excited for the next reaction.

    I agree, it's not a banger you want on a playlist, but it it one of my favorites. Especially if you listen to it in situ on the album. The song after this one on the album is Drones and it is one I've been hinting at for you to listen to because it's another crazy Matt song that is not a banger, but unbelievable in it's musicianship. You absolutely must listen to it, especially all together with this one. I don't think they've ever played it live back to back, but honestly, they can NOT play Drones live, but they opened and closed the entire drones tour with it. It was an unbelievable experience that is impossible to express, even in video. Just watch it and then we can discuss it more.

      I just remembered... my grandfather whistled. A lot. I copied him a lot. I'm pretty good at it. When this album came out I tried to learn the whistling part, but it's complicated and I couldn't quite get it. So I bought the sheet music for this song so I could learn it and now I can whistle along. Another reason to love this song. It reminds me of my grandfather.

    Really enjoyed this mate! My girlfriend is a huge Muse fan and in lockdown I’ve been watching loads of Glastonbury live performances to satisfy that want to be at a live gig so this was a good mix for me. Maybe it’s time i get into Muse more myself!

      Aw man thanks for tuning in to the Muse series! I think this was Episode 50 actually! So as you've probably seen over the past year, I've flooded your subscription box with these at least once a week. So apologies for that, but I'm glad you watched and enjoyed haha!

      Should be on every persons bucket list to see muse live at least once in your life . I had the pleasure of seeing them twice live , both in pretty low number small intimate gigs , once at plymouth very early in their career and a few years later at the eden project where they nearly blew the biom's and was absolutely spectacular both visually and acousticaly . Now they only mainly do huge stadiums so the nearest they d play to me would like a 400 mikes away.
      Their live shows are works of art and no other band out there has reinvested so much of thier earnings back into thier shows. Literally once in a lifetime experiece if you can get to one. ❤

    I sort of think about this song like the Drones version of Exogensis symphony but while having the 3 movements they put them in one track on the cd and when they play it live. I don't think I've seen a video of them doing all the parts of exogenesis live (they did part 1 I think when I saw them on the resistance tour).
    This Is some performances though, utterly Epic.

  • @legoboy-ox2kx
    @legoboy-ox2kx 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    The song is basically about the main character from the album's story becoming so resentful of the current society that they rise to power and destroy everything so they can make it how they want, but realize it's not truly what they wanted.
