Don't feel like you should only buy a tree when it's ready to bloom. Planting a tree in fall would still give it time to settle in and grow strong roots before blooming time in spring. It might be harder to imagine what it will look like, but don't feel like you'd be overpaying for a tree out of blooming season. It's still well worth it. That said, what you bought is a beauty 😍
100% agree. That additional time in the soil before it has to start putting on leaves and flowers will do it so much good. I agree the tree Elise bought was gorgeous.

When I got divorced I did much research and found that two years is the adequate time to get over a loss of a loved one. You need to grieve that loss and heal your heart to make it ready for your true love. 29 is YOUNG! Don’t rush, the right one will come along at the exact right time.
true, I also found time helps (plenty of experience here, too). However, she wasn't married and they didn't really live together (except as a stop-gap measure)... so I don't think she's rushing it. I found that after my divorce I needed to date a lot, especially dating a much wider range of people, not with the future in mind but to get to know the spectrum and myself much better. Then I took a break when I wanted to but I had freed myself of the pressure to find a certain type of person or commitment. There are many ways to find love and happiness.

Your home (much like you) is just getting lovelier and lovelier. I think we were all waiting for you to do something with the garden by the end of summer...knowing that by that time you'd have some ideas for the next year already. Beautiful tree... 😍It would be amazing if you did vlogmas! They wouldn't have to be very long, I realise how much work it would be every day with both shooting and editing... But it would be lovely to share your calm aesthetic during such a stressful part of the year...
FYI - there are different kinds of hydrangea. The 'mophead' and climbing hydrangea you planted will do well in shade. In fact the climber will fill that whole wall in a few years. The other one you bought is a panicle standard and does quite well in sun. If it's not getting enough light there (not enough blooms), definitely move it bc they tolerate it very well. Yes I would love to watch you 24 times in December 😆 I love Vlogmas - here in Australia it's high summer at Christmas time and it just doesn't make sense. When you mentioned Vlogmas, I almost teared up with joy! Your vlogmases have made a big impact on me, and how I appreciate the Christmas season differently now. In the US, the emphasis is on Dec 25 and the parties etc have me exhausted by the time it arrives, so i feel guilty for not enjoying Christmas Day more. You have helped me change that perspective. Last year I got a candle and lit it every day (a very unamerican tradition), counting down and enjoying the whole month as a holiday. It felt much more balanced and enjoyable for me, and not like a stressful rush to one major day. Thank you for a the work you've put into the past vlogmas videos, and for considering doing it again! Your videos of cookie baking, decorating, gift wrapping, and dancing around the tree -- all the Danish traditions -- are very entertaining and informative, and I wouldn't mind seeing your make those videos again. I always love learning more about your country and culture. Again, thank you, Elise! Now I will go back and finish watching the rest of this video. :)

I have that same flowering tree next to my front door, it beautiful when it's in full bloom! When I first toured my house before buying it the previous owners chopped all the branches and leaves down, but it revived itself by summer and turned majestic! I love it!

Hello from Canada! In the province I live we also had an insanely rainy month - broke many records, lots of flooding, very dramatic and at times tragic outcomes.
I know some creators do vlogmas as every other day, which gives a little more breathing room.

I really believe that anyone can paint well just some people don't like it as much, believe they can't or have not been encouraged. It is a hard skill to learn and the seeing small improvements is so rewarding. There is real talent in your work and you are a natural at it.

Your painting skills have greatly improved! As a long time artist myself I recommend getting large tubes of your primary colors, or at least just black and white. As you may realize now these are used the most in mixing and lightening/darkening shades. All my love!

If you want, you could take a branch of your climbing hydrangeas, put a heavy rock on it so it touches the ground and in a year, it will re root into the ground so you can continue to add more hydrangeas to your garden. I do not know if you have azaleas bushes there, but you can do the same with them. ❤ vlogmas would be fantastic, especially the decorating part. Seeing different countries celebrate is fascinating to me. Hope that garden tip helps.
I LOVE vlogmas. I probably watch about 10 or so creators that do it, and love to keep up with everyone. Then if I've missed any, I can catch up on them in the first couple weeks of January, when all the creators are taking a break lmao.

It’s been super rainy here too (especially this week and I just happen to be at a friend’s cabin 😑), I love the idea of having a cherry tree! I wish I had a garden ❤️
Be careful in planting a tree close to the house as the roots can cause damage to the foundation of the house.
Where it's a hydrangea and not a true tree I think it's fine. Hydrangea roots are shallow

I've seen these in my neighbourhood. Beautiful as small trees and no threat to the property. Since Elise discussed it with nursery staff, I imagine they would have discouraged her if the site was wrong. It's bad for business to give bad advice.

Dear Elise, It’s a very perfect time to buy & plant a pruned back cherry tree. When you plant a tree pruned back & bare of greenery & flowers… then when it goes into a well prepared hole, & you add planter soil & nutrients, then all the tree’s new growth will not be used in keeping alive a lot of existing branches full of leaves & flowers which will weaken the entire tree’s growth… but rather a pruned tree & good prepared soil will begin strongly rooting & producing an abundance of extra healthy new growth to establish it permanently! Be very cautious about planting trees in that narrow walkway… unless you want them spreading to take over the entire area over the walkway as well as covering both planting areas beside the walkway.

stopping at 1 minute to say Elise KUDOS to you! Honestly, I love the little meals you cook yourself, these often look like launches too how do you find the oomph to cook for yourself. I spent 16 years cooking for just me and my daughter and I found that difficult now my partner does all the cooking because well I feel I did my time lol. When I'm on my own (every Lunch time and Wednesday dinner time) I always opt for toast or rice cakes because I can't be bothered. I need to find some oomph and I love that you have it. xx
