    You are kicking butt Kelly, 50% is fantastic. I divorced my wife 15 years ago and we did not have children. I was also a lucky guy who did not get financially hurt by divorce which made my wealth journey easy, keep up the great work and great freedom and choice awaits around the corner. Blessings John

    We got out of debt in 2018! It took a year and a half and on was on maternity leave for a few months of that time. And I also was working part time as a high school teacher for a few of those months too! So you are 100% right about income! My husband is a cop and I’m a full time teacher, so we both will never make more that 100,000 individually, but I feel more “rich” now than before.

    You are such an inspiration. I’m working on paying off my debt now, so I can build my retirement fund, and my savings. I can’t wait to be able to have the sinking funds you have. It’s so smart to have money set aside for things like a new computer, car, etc. I just paid off my car payment with my tax money, so that was freeing! I have about 17k of debt to pay off. Slowly but surely, I’ll get there. With help from your videos, of course!

    Child support is a killer and I can't find any financial advice to help those who are paying. I'm still attempting to put towards their future but it's still difficult to budget after almost 50% my gross income, (25% cs, 23% tax) is already used up.

    • @freedominabudget

      I would treat it like any other bill as a fixed expense. Work on lowering your other bills and raising your income. You got this!

    A lot of my cash goes towards debt. Once I get out of debt, 100% of that cash can be saved. If I was willing to shell it out in debt repayment, I should be willing to direct deposit into savings.
    I have been stratigizing how to get the debt paid off. Straight loans vs revolving credit. 15% vs 0 %. Which makes more $ sense for me. Negotiating a better rate than 15% with creditors. Time spent on it is money in the bank.. I pay attention and empower myself with knowledge. Knowledge is also money in the bank. It is not spendable but highly valued.

    Ok, so how do I increase my income without getting married? I make 70K as a Reg. Dietitian FT without benefits. If I get a job with benefits I will only make $60/65K. I have eBay as a side hustle. I'm divorced with 2 children, no child support. This is the most I have ever made. Most in my field make less than I do. Any suggestions on how to make more $$ or save more? I am Debt free except a 0% interest car payment. I am also a regular couponer with a stockpile. I am guilty of buying too much makeup, skincare and clothing because of a sale though.

      Rita Baglin You need a budget. Shop around for your insurance, cut out all unnecessary spending, call cable and cell phone and threaten to switch if they can’t get you a lower plan.

    Do you count sinking funds as part of your savings rate? I struggle to figure mine out as I have savings for a future purchase.

    • @melodiev9253
      @melodiev9253 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I struggle with this as well. I know some people do not include sinking funds in their savings rate because the money will be spent at some point.

    • @freedominabudget
      @freedominabudget  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Great question! Everyone does it different but I personally only count it if its a long term savings, for example I DON'T count the sinking fund money for my property taxes because that is for something specific that I pay yearly rather than monthly. Hope that makes sense. :)

    By the end of the year, I want to be able to save one of our incomes monthly.

    • @freedominabudget
      @freedominabudget  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      LOL! I shop at Khol's too trust me, we just need to be aware of their marketing and make sure we are really getting a good deal! :)
      That's an awesome goal to be saving one income by the end of the year!!

    • @vickieclark5931
      @vickieclark5931 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Kohls does have some great stuff. But yes we have to watch what we are buying when stuff is "on sale" . Michaels is another one. They have 50, 60, & even 70% off their stuff that they have marked up by 100%. Although sometimes you can get a great price on something, you really have to look for them and figure out how much you would pay just by going to Walmart or Target. Marketing can trick us all into thinking we are getting a great deal when we are not.

    Yes she does earn more to save more BUT people, understand she is out there side husseling her butt of to get that cash flow. The "extra" money didn't just appear in her bank account.
    I don't earn the money she does, BUT I make choices based on need, pay attention and keep on it all the time. I just paid of 6 THOUSAND dollars worth of debt last week alone without taking food off my table. It is possible. What are you willing to do/temporarily willing to do without to make it happen??
    Make up your mind to stop making excuses of why you are living pay check to paycheck and make the $$ moves.

    So much truth in this video. I know I still sometimes catch myself thinking that I'll be able to save/achieve more with a higher income, but I also realised in the past couple of months that even on my current income (almost $50k this almost finished tax year) I still have weeks/fortnights that I feel like I'm living as paycheck to paycheck as I was when I was earning $20k per year.
    That wishlist hack is so helpful - I was actually purging one of my store wishlists while listening to the video.

    • @freedominabudget
      @freedominabudget  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Lifestyle creep is so real and so easy to fall into! Right?! Isn’t that wishlist hack helpful?!

    • @lynmorris3453
      @lynmorris3453 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@freedominabudget Exactly. I admit that lifestyle creep has contributed but it also doesn't help that I swear every time my employer gives me a cost of living salary increase, things like rent and insurance etc go up just enough to make the pay rise a waste of time.

      At an income of 10K, you won't be able to save half. As Kelly explained in the video, she had to work on increasing her income by working overtime, working to advance in her career and get a raise, and taking on a side hustle. It was only once she got her income up that she could save half.

    • @dianvandevyver5729

    What does the Bible teach about purpose of marriage and children ?
    Like arrows in the hands of a worrior, so are the children of one's youth.
    Children are a blessing from the Lord, the fruit of the womb are Hus reward. Just putting the Word out there.
