you know what would be super helpful. A good trouble shooting video, with advice on lubricatron, keep the brush running, common problems. Really hard to find anything like this for the Grex brand.

If you have an issue with air blowing out the nozzle even though the trigger is not on, check the slider shift pin. Over years of sitting this had a tiny amount of corrosion on it and was no longer moving freely.
Another tip- that tiny screw also keeps the needle chuck from spinning. So if you don’t screw it in far enough it won’t stop it. That’s what the tiny milled groove is for. It’s shown in the video but not mentioned

Thanks to the video. I bought one from you at the 2012 IPMS Nationals in Orlando. Well it was getting to the point where the trigger was getting stuck and not operating smoothly. Once fully dis-assembled I was able to clean it and now it works smoothly again!

Just bought one, what a nice tool! The black paint that it came with in the kit was spoiled though, all sludgy. Would Grex send me a replacement? :)

I don’t know if you ever updated this model but in my opinion, a more simplified way to take apart and clean would be greatly improved.

Are there any parts of the TG3 that should not be placed in an ultrasonic cleaner? Thanks.

I just bought one with the xtra 0.2mm and 0.5mm needle.I do alot of metallic paints and large scale plastic models mainly cars..I had a bad experience with another brand that always clogs the next day after using metallic paints no matter how meticulously I cleaned it..one day the paint just wont come out so I've had it with that brand...So if i use metallic paints which part should I pay close attention to? Should I use the 0.5mm bore to minimize clogging? Thx.

When re-assembling the airbrush should airbrush lube be applied to the slider assembly before it's re-inserted into the airbrush?

Wondering what is the best cleaning solution for these parts once the airbrush is disassembled.

It depends on what you are using the airbrush for. If you are working with acrylic paints isopropyl alcohol will work fine. If you are using enamels or lacquers then lacquer thinner should do the trick.
However if you are a cake decorator or use the airbrush for body paints then I would not suggest either of the above. In the case of food dyes and such, Vodka or industry appropriate cleaners would be best. As for body paints I have not worked with them so I don't know if isopropyl alcohol is appropriate or will cause paint to react and create s residue that is more difficult to remove.
Best to consult the company who makes the paint or dye for the best answer. So there is no one answer for all products that could be used in an airbrush.

The video also does not show disassembly of the seal and o-ring behind the paint cup. I've had to replace the o-ring several times.

I just got this airbrush, do you need to take this brush down all the way after each use?

Sorry for the extremely late response. I've been traveling extensively over the last year so it's difficult to keep up with responses to our videos. In short the answer is no. I have a video on normal cleaning practices. Here is a link to all our videos, video four talks about regular cleaning, www.grexairbrush.com/ABM.

I realize Brian may not be watching these anymore, but maybe someone at Grex does. This teardown does not cover the needle o-ring and packing seal. Is this something not recommended or only replaceable by manufacturer or rep?

not a full disassemble, as you forgot to take apart the air valve assembly ( what happens if you have an air leak??)- or oil/water contamination in the air line. wish you could do a video on this.

If when the trigger is pulled and paint is spraying immediately, not in the second stage (as it should) then it's most likely a clogged fluid nozzle. I've seen this happen a couple of times before where customers had a similar problem using acrylic paints and not cleaning the fluid nozzle properly. Only flushing the airbrush and not removing the fluid nozzle to clean it from the back side usually causes the problem.
What is happening is the dried paint is not allowing the needle to fully close against the fluid nozzle and it's acting like a filter. As soon as air is initiated it pulls paint through this area and out front of the airbrush. When The fluid nozzle was removed and properly cleaned normal performance was restored.
If you have cleaned the fluid nozzle properly and there still is a problem then it's a wear issue and only parts replacement will correct the problem. If this is the case then I recommend you call our office and we'll get your information and make arrangements for you to send the airbrush to us for repair. Please do not send the airbrush to us without contacting us first as we will not accept it without an RGA# we will provide to you. You can call us at 323-318-2828 or email at info@grexusa.com. Should you email us please include your mailing address and brief description of the issue as well as what kind of paints you use and we'll set up the RGA# for you to include with our address for the shipping label.
