I vividly remember the day about 20 years ago when, as a teenager, I was cooking something with my mom: the recipe called for 1 tbsp of Dijon mustard and she just squirted in a bunch of it without measuring. I freaked, being a know-it-all teen, saying that it was way too much. And she went and got the measuring spoons and scooped out the mustard and proved it was pretty much exactly 1 tbsp - totally showed me up, and taught me that you don’t question the magically measuring eye/hands of an experienced cook!!!

I first met Tony Chachere's over 40 years ago when a friend from Louisiana introduced us. At that time, it wasn't available locally and I'd have to get it from friends/family in Texas/Louisiana. Now it can be easily found. Love the stuff, as well as Slap Ya Mama, another Cajun seasoning mix.
I made the Italian Sausage one tonight. I had mild Italian in my freezer and I used my Instant Pot. I sautéed the sausage first and used vegetable broth to deglaze. Then pressure cooked for 15 minutes. After the natural release I then added the cheese. I served it over rice. It was a hit with my boys.
So basically you made a different recipe. Are you also one of those that rates recipes online and writes in the reviews that you changed this and that and added this and omitted that and rated it 5 stars? 🙄
New to your channel, loving the content and can relate alot. Have used most of the tactics/ ideas over the 24 years my marriage, especially when we first were married. I have about 9 of them. 3 large and rest different sizes for smaller meals or dips and such. On at least 2 Thanksgivings I cooked everything in crockpots just because I could, lol. Actually made serving a breeze when I set up my buffet.

Hello Beautiful Christine! I couldn’t even begin to THANK YOU SO MUCH for making all these amazing videos of yours that truly truly changed my life for the better! I love love love all your videos! But videos like this are my top favorites and this week I have all the ingredients to try ALL OF THEM. I made the Italian sausage yesterday, and it was Da-Bomb! My husband kept saying it’s so good while he was eating it! I took a picture but I don’t know how to send it here. This weekend I am making the chicken and the rest on upcoming week! So THANK YOU SO SO SO MUCH! For bringing the excitement of new recipes and joy of cooking to me and a blessing to served my family yummy food! God bless you and your family❤️
Wish I could make these, I guess I can for my husband son when he’s home from college. I can’t eat a lot of the ingredients. I guess somethings I can cut out or replace. Nice for quick and easy meals. Thank you for sharing.
Would you like a super simple curry recipe? Works great in a slow cooker and it's great, healthy comfort food! It freezes well too. The base of the recipe is: -a little bit of oil -1 onion, chopped, you can also use leeks, or both -2 cloves of garlic, chopped -2 table spoons of tomato puree -2 heaping table spoons of your favourite curry paste (or how much you like) -1 fresh chili or some dried chili flakes/chili powder to taste -1 tin of chopped tomatoes or passata/pasta sauce -1 tin of beans, drained and rinsed (my kids like kidney beans most) -200 grams of dried red lentils, rinsed (which is probably about a cup) -1 zucchini/courgette, chopped -other herbs and spices to taste, I like to add some smoked paprika powder, pepper and salt as well as chives and parsley -2 stock cubes -water to cover everything (or omit the stock cubes and use ready made bouillon if you have it) --> Simply put everything in the slow cooker, mix and put on high for 5-6 hours or on low all day if you're putting it together in the morning and want to eat it that evening. We eat this curry with rice most of the time, but it's so lovey with roast potatoes as well. I like to put some cottace cheese on the edge of my plate too. This recipe fits in my slow cooker, which is nearly 1 US gallon in size I think (3,5 litre) Obviously this recipe is adaptable and easy to scale up and you can use whatever beans or vegetables you like (we did find broccoli overpowering when we used that, cauliflower works better. Peppers and peas are nice to use as well) Enjoy, and greetings from the Netherlands!
So there are very few alerts to tear me away from my StarTrek, esp in these exciting days of trek news but here I am for a slow cooker thing? woow. :-D
Beef going into my slow cooker for supper tomorrow night. You’re right about Tony’s seasoning. We love it with chicken cooked on the grill and enjoyed with our favorite people in the world near the lake. Thanks for reminding me I actually have a Crock-Pot. 😉🙂

Just want to say thank you for the sausage recipe in particular! Always looking for ways to use potatoes, and cooking sausage usually terrifies me, so this is perfect!!! :)
So i made the creole chicken tonight. I can say it was a hit. I changed it a little but not major. I added two bells instead of one, I didn't take the skin off and I put it over califlower rice. My only regret was leaving the skin on. It was such a strange texture. However, we loved the taste !!
I love creole seasoning (Uncle Tony's, of course!) but oh man it makes me sneeze and sneeze and sneeze after I measure it out. Doesn't affect me while eating it though, lol.

What a great use for the little bits of tortilla chips at the bottom of the bag! We're big fans of tortilla chips around here, and I bet in a couple weeks I'd have 2 cups, if I stored them in the freezer.

I accidentally unfroze more butternut squash than I meant to, so I pureed some to about 3 cups worth, added it and 4 cups of broth to a big pan, put in half a bag of frozen shredded hashbrowns, and wondered what I needed to add to season.
