      I really want to start needle felting, but I don't understand how this is needle felting. I mean your just putting wool on a ball of yarn, your not actually making a whole body and figurine out of the wool. Maybe this is another type of needle felting I'm not sure but I just wanted to put this out there. And if you could explain it would be really nice😊

    • @FormerDelusional
      @FormerDelusional ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The ball of yarn is merely an armature or base for the owl. The needle felting comes into play when adding the shapes and colors and elements of the face of the owl. You can spend the time and use your core wool to needle felt the inner part of the owl but this method is a quick and easy way to create something.

    I loved the felted owl video. After the intro, which was outside and windy, Shayda does a very good job of explaining felting in simple, clear instructions. She stays on task, instead of trying to entertain like so many other people do. She’s a natural teacher. Well done .

    Hi I'm legally blind but was always crafting with my children! If you wouldn't mind keep on explaining the way you do I would be your no 1 subscriber for life!! Your such an amazing teacher and I love how you describe every detail. Thank you so much this is what I've been looking for since I lost A good portion of my sight. I do have a residual sight, but it tends to be distorted, but I am learning to use it and I'm grateful that I still have it! Thank you so much for this beginners tutorial❣🇨🇦

    Thank you for your free and wonderful and complete tutorial. It is a gift that even one of my best friends, that was doing it was not willing to show me unless I would pay her, despite the reality that I suffer chronic pain and depression and despite the fact that even though I am on a very tight disability pension I paid her very well when I needed help with moving. She did not even tell me what ist was called. It took me a while till I found your very wonderful video that brought joy into my heart. 🌹🌹🌹

    Love this owl! 😍 I've never tried felting and this tutorial was really interesting. Thank you!
    PEI is one place I have always wanted to go. I read Anne Of Green Gables as a young girl and that was it! When I was flying to my honeymoon with my brand new husband the sky's were covered with clouds almost all of our journey, until we were over PEI and the clouds parted ❤️❤️❤️❤️ I saw it as a sign I was meant to go, lol. I've been married 23 years and we still haven't made it there, but one day I will ☺️ Have an amazing summer. Love from the UK

    What an excellent tutorial! I have made a few felted animals now and I used a kit for the first one, but this explains it really well, and shows that anyone can start from scratch, with no expensive kit needed. Thank you. I also have a three-headed felting needle which makes it even quicker for the less detailed areas.

    You've done an excellent job teaching this art! I find that the best instructors teach as though they're teaching to an alien. I remember a task given to me as a child in grammar school. I had to teach someone how to make a peanut butter and jelly sandwich as if they'd never heard of any it or any of the ingredients used. You've done this in a similar way and I feel like I completely get it....thanks so much!

    My daughter and I tried needle felting for the first time today and made an owl each. :-) We are vegan so we used acrylic which I think we should have 'shredded' and mixed up a bit more before we made the bodies of the owls so they took a long time to firm up and flatten and smoothout but we got there in the end. :-) We used acrylic toy stuffing for the middle of the bodies. Thanks for this video which we enjoyed and I have now subscribed. :-)

    I have sewn for over 50 years but have never tried wool felting before. I am planning a Harry Potter tree for next Christmas and owls would be perfect ( and I suggest you add Harry Potter crafting or crafts to your keywords). Anyway, before I try to invent a way to hang these owls on a tree, do you have any suggestions?

      Debra Holster - I made some little needle felted penguins for my tree the other day. You can use a regular needle to poke thread through the top of your felt and then tie it to be able to hang it on your tree :)

    I never heard about needle felting until I saw a free class being offered at my local library. So I thought I'd come to You Tube to get a feel for the craft. These seems so tedious. I can't imagine sitting and doing this to make the various projects. Maybe it's easier once you become more adept at doing it. Going to give it a shot but not feeling too positive I'll stick with it. But this tutorial is very good for true beginners.
