So apparently according to the authorities, you're not allowed to do top speed runs on the autobahn. Meanwhile there's a TH-cam channel called Autotopnl that posts videos every week of them doing top speed runs in BMWs and other sports cars all the way upto 370kmh.
2:33 First: You forgot the "Sichtfahrgebot" Which states that you always has to be able to come to a stop within your visibility, that btw is not a Guideline but a direct limit of what you can drive (that's why the speed record would be illegal at night or on not perfectly straight Autobahnen cause you couldn't see far enough to stop within your visibility at 400) And second: He didn't endanger others due to very good sight, very low traffic and the car being safe for that speeds, that's why he was not punished, I think it's necessary to check that by court in order to prevent Anarchy on the roads, it is important to be safe even without a speedlimit in order to prevent it (there is a huge discussion since years to get a speedlimit of 130 and Crashs due to high speeds are a big argument)
germany is a land of cognitive dissonance. lets be super strict, but allow no speed limit on autobahn, and when someone actually takes advantage of this "rule" they get pissy.
Dumb comment. Check the law or at least watch the video. There was nothing illegal about this. The prosecutors just did their jobs and checked if it was illegal.
- He did the test at 5am on Sunday so there are no truck - The visibility is good - The section he tested has 3 lanes and no speed limit He didn't drive it recklessly, he definitely prepared for this test very well. I'm glad he wasn't prosecuted, because there are many youtubers doing speed test on autobahn (just with slower speed, like 300-360km/h), and tbh I don't think there are any differences between 360 and 420km/h, if you crashed at those speeds it would be 99.9% fatal anyways
The problem is in the video you dont see the estate car trying to pass him. Its usaualy the estates pushing up to 600km/h and beyond, not some weird inpractical two seaters.
I think the problem was it was a publicity stunt, and or that he made a sport of it. If he just would of done it, or even recorded it but didn't upload it, no one would of bat a eyelid but when you do stuff like this for internet clout it sends the wrong messages. I don't think Germany wants people "breaking records" on there highways even if it has no limit, its a bad precedent to set.
I am sad that our government can't seem to analyse the situation a bit better and celebrate for the fastest public road speed by one of the coolest cars on earth. If it wasn't for the big 5 car cartel maybe an Audi would have broken the speed record. But sadly you can only look and appreciate the people. And to try and fine them despite having limitless speed limits,it makes you yourself question why even care. The man made sure it was clear with spotters and not racing them.
Was hätte denn unsere Regierung besser analysieren sollen? Die hat damit doch unmittelbar gar nichts zu tun... Und die Staatsanwlatschaft hat lediglich ihren Job gemacht und erkannt, dass es nicht strafbar ist.
Every country used to have similar rules about speed. Instead of a limit, it was about driving dangerously. I wouldn’t like to defend his charge - what was his minimum stopping distance, and what was his maximum visibility for a small dangerous object? And yeah I’ve done 200 on a German Autobahn and I could barely do it for a few seconds during 1-2 hours of driving, thanks to traffic, roadwork and curves (from most to least).
you are supposed to pass on the left lane, but you are also supposed to get in the right lane as soon as possible, which he was clearly not doing he should've been driving in the rightmost lane
In my youth I made several dozen trips through Germany usually pinned at 145mph on the Autobahn. Safe to say that 20 something me and my 20 year old souped up german sheetbox were more dangerous than this guy; but neither of us caused any accidents or problems thanks to the great system they have on these roads
I can understand the government's position to a point. They don't want the autobahn to look like the wild west because they're literally the only country to have a society disciplined enough to enjoy such a responsibility. If anything they were probably looking to make an example of him even though they knew he was safe,. I'd imagine they wanted to discourage copycats who would try to beat it, similarly to how the cannon ball run in America is constantly challenged.
I'm huge car guy and occasionally watch these top speeds run myself. They are entertaining, and I don't think this guy should've been prosecuted. That said. No matter how you look at it, he is putting peoples lives at risk for our and his entertainment. During these high speed run, there will always be factors you simply can't control. Let's say a tire giving out, for example... I love the autobahn, but things like this don't have a place on public roads imo.
Damn, I'm so thrilled that they charged this guy that I'll import my car to Europe and do 300 km/h runs back and forth on an American plates and record all of that💀 Who they gonna charge then?
IDK you have you drive not just thinking about what you are able to do, but what others are able to do as well. There could be an idiot down the road and at those speeds even under braking you wouldn't be in a very good place
They allow the car to be built, they allow companies to advertise these features, they allow the car to be sold, they want you to buy the car for tax and revenue, they charge you to use the vehicle, in a public road but you not allowed to use it to the capacity it is built. Why allow it? Who are idiot's here? The police or the politicians?

Also, imagine driving your family at 130 and people flying by at 250,300, engines screaming, it scares the kids and disturbs the peace overall, also always anticipating the flyby, its scary and stupid, German people make good cars, but no car can have survivors with 250kmh into a back of the truck or a lamp post. Check out the numbers for a car stopping distance at these speeds, you basically dont care about anything if you drive that fast.
@@jaksacurepic1635 Exaggerated, but yeah, driving 200 focused is safer than 130 while distracted, hence why its illegal to do it, but my point is that the more speed rises, the stopping distance increases exponentionally, stopping from 200 is much longer than double from stopping from 100, so i dont like driving above 130.
