- Luthier reacts to this amazing acoustic guitar workshop. Jim has the tools required to make beautiful acoustic and electric guitars. With a well designed workspace Jim will be able to create guitar number 8 & 9 with no problem at all. Good equipment makes for good guitars.

I've got same toolbox bought it at Harbor freight... Very reasonable price... Looks vintage though.... You're right...
thank you Monty
Very welcome
Those tool chests are still made. You can some nice USA made ones from Kennedy manufacturing co, or some decent quality ones from Harbor Freight. My wife has the one from HF and loves it.
I need to check it out.
That tool chest looks like the one that harbor freight sells
Not from Harbor. lol
I’m sooooo jealous of all that organization!
Me too! Love that tool chest he has. Oh my goodness.
Thank you Monty for showcasing my shop! You are very kind. I would love to see other shops too. I love getting ideas from other people. I've just started a Facebook page for my guitar work. Please check it out at: facebook.com/guitarmiller
Hope your staying safe Monty!! Wishing you all the best, the good thing is you will have more time to make videos, can’t wait!!😊😊
Safe and sound. Working on the neck.
Hello from Salt lake City
Hello back from the frozen tundra of southern Ontario. lol
Man, these videos really make me want to have a wood working shop. :)
It's a great looking shop
It's nice to see a luthiers workshop and how it varies from a cabinet makers shop. I am just now starting the design of my workbench. I see somethings that I will likely include such as the StewMac repair vise. The auxiliary bench top is cool too. Thanks
Ya, the auxiliary bench is a winner for sure.
Nice to have a look around at shops of other guitar builders, would be nice to visit shops from different hobbies like fine mechanics, jewelry, electronics hobbyist etc.
I totally agree with you!
I am envious of all the lighting and working area in that workshop! Mine is a hobbit hole in comparison! I’m also envious of the table saw and jigsaw. I need those in my life!
By the way, my favorite tool is a low angle jack plane - followed closely by a card scraper. I’m very leery of power tools and I love hand tools because you can “feel” how the wood responds as opposed to how the tool just chews through it. I use mine for shooting and thickness planing - which reminds me I need to make a big mouth caliper like that!
Hey Neil, shoot me a picture of your plane and scraper. They are two of my favourites as well. shopwithmonty@gmail.com
By the way, the auxiliary bench top is my favorite thing in my shop. I'll post some plans for it on my guitarmiller Facebook page soon.
Great idea and I'll do a shout out on that. Love it.
@@MontyMcKinnon A link to the plans for the auxiliary bench top are now on my Facebook page @guitarmiller
