Had no clue that SeaWorld was involved with Magic Mountain in the beginning, and it’s really interesting to see how the park started and was before Six Flags came in. Amazing first episode and I can’t wait to see the rest of this series!
My family visited Magic Mountain several times in the 70s. Mountain express was the first roller coaster I ever rode😺 I loved the trolls and wizard, the Magic Pagoda, and Spillikin Corner. I started taking my son there in the late 90s when he was tall enough to ride some of the rides. I have so many fond memories from that park💞
This is awesome thanks for making this. MM in the 70s was the best. As a kid back then, Revolution and Colossus were a HUGE deal! I remember going shortly after Colossus opened and the people wearing pins that they'd rode Colossus. I was too little/scared to ride either when they opened (born in 71) but just being there and the buzz around these coasters was pretty insane! The vibe of the park changed when they ditched the Wizard and Trolls for the Looney Toons (Tunes?) characters. And that place was sketchy as hell in the late 80s/early 90s haha, total gangland. I think it's settled down now, haven't been there in close to 20 yrs though.
I grew up on magic mountain, and was obsessed with it as a child well into my early 20’s. This is an amazing video, looking forward to part 2. Thanks for the extensive research.
No matter how many you show in this series I must say that for what it is worth Magic Mountain had some of the best commercials back in the 20th century.
The Magic Pagoda was AMAZING! I hope that someday someone has the time and resources to explore this in great depth. The Neon and water in the central hall was a sight to behold.
I love that there are others that love this park as much as I do. Yes Disneyland will ways be Disneyland and Knotts is great but this park will always have my heart!
The theme park of my childhood and adolescence. Just recently visited there again after 15 years. So many changes but so many memories. All of them good! There was a time that getting a job at Magic Mountain was coveted! If you could work there over the summer you were awesomely popular.
This park has a really cool history. My mom used to work there back in the 70s on the Dragon Ride. We went there all the time growing up and it has a special place in my heart.
The summer of 1976 our family spent most of the summer at a campground, Travel Village, which is near Magic Mountain. We got to see fireworks every night from the park and were some of the first to ride The Revolution and Colossus. I'll always love that place.

On my most recent trip (about three years ago), I kept the park as it is now sort of overlayed on how it is now. I think my family only went once during these early years, but I remember doing once shortly after the Six Flags acquisition. I'll comment about that in part two.
