    If you can find it, roasted garlic really good instead of just dried garlic

    Another outstanding video. My granddaughter and I made a huge batch last November and she gave it away as Christmas gifts. It was a HUGE success. We added Chia seeds, lots of garlic then put it in the smoker to give it a smokey node. She already has requests for more this year. On a side note, I also use it in my cream of wheat.

    Middle eastern markets usually have the poppy seeds in bulk. Usually VERY reasonable in price too. Check out your local market if you have one in your area.

      The middle easter cultures use a LOT of spices and I've never seen better prices than what I've bought at mideast markets. There is one local to me and it's not uncommon to find 8 oz or better of any kind of spices.

    Pardon me, but you might want to double check your math. I'm pretty sure that to figure price per ounce you would divide the total price by the weight. So, 13.49 by 24 ounces. That works out to 56 cents an ounce for the store bought, and 89 cents per ounce for homemade. That said it is nice to be able to customize the mix to your preferences. I love everything bagel seasoning!

    Thanks! I love it in my eggs, esp with avacado included. Cut up tomatoes in cottage cheese( w or wo avacado) and sprinkle it on.
    The last time i bought from our local grocery, it included dill. It's ok, i like dill but think i prefer it without.

    I've never tried to make it with black sesame, which I would buy at an Asian market for a better price. If you're a caraway fan, a tablespoon in the batch is a nice accent. Or a teaspoon of dried rosemary. Smart & Final has 14 oz of poppy seeds for $9.49, for those who live in western states.

    You can make your own flaky sea salt.
    12.9 oz is A little bit over three quarters of a pound, so you made about half as much per batch, but I Forgot how much you spent in total so I don't know what your savings is.

  • @bhorv67
    @bhorv67 ปีที่แล้ว

    I’d make this myself only because I don’t care for the proportions of each of the ingredients in the combined mix. To me, there’s way to much sesame seeds and not enough garlic and onion. The other thing is the salt used on real everything bagels is rock salt, which doesn’t dissolve as easily. Thanks for the video.

  • @trish237

    Hi Leisa, you said you used 2 half gallon jars to fill, which is 128 ozs and not the 64 ounces that you said you made. Did you do your math based on 64 or 128 ounces ? Just wondering if the math is wrong.

    I mean this in the nicest way but 12.9 ounces is 3/4 of a pound not a pound and one half. If you have never tried them before San Francisco Herb Company has all these items for a total cost of $33.40, each item weighs 1 pound, the poppy seeds are $4.95 for 1 pound. I have been ordering from there for years, the quality and freshness is excellent and they have a lot of hard to find items. They do charge freight so I get together with other people and we put in a big order and share in the cost but you can't eat those prices anywhere.
