I would make a rule that, every day you delay the deal, the one delaying it is penalised. If it is the outgoing club, every day delay means you get less and less. If it is the incoming club, every day they have to pay more and more. Do this and most deals will be done day 1.

You have to pay the market rate and clubs that have players under contract set that rate.

How is Barrass worth a first round pick? He is 30. With a bad back. Never plays 22 games a year. He is leaving a sinking ship. Statistically he loses more one-on-one contests than almost any other key defender. He isn't Brian Lake, who came to Hawks for much much less. No thanks.

@seanlynch1185 he's 29 and will be 29 all of next season. He's also not injured. Passed his medical, didn't he? When the hawks thing was confirmed, he was put on ice and games put into his replacement. It's not what he's worth based on age but based on supply and demand. There are no KPP defender options and this one is contracted. You don't get him for what a 29 year old is worth. You have to pay the market rate and clubs that have players under contract set that rate.
